  • Problem of compatibility, content protection, contents circulation ok. was caused between contents offerer and consumers by indiscreet right technical development about digital contents. The MPEG committee proposed MPEG-21 framework for these problem solution and for right managing in MPEG-21 inside XML(eXtensible Markup Language)'s structure REL(Right Expression Language) that is a right expression language propose. Contents protection, circulation, standard right information representation for administration that is reasonable and is the transposition enemy mutually by REL's use doing based on this MPEG-21 were available. Fast correspondence about new technology is necessary circumstance because present MPEG-21 is in study step and REL edit solution as infra technology is required. Also, development of REL document edit system is required mere because this REL document edit has difficulty in edit except expert with MPEG-21 Framework. In this paper, designed and embody about REL document mastication system that right creation and edit are available efficiently about contents easily without comprehension of MPEG-21 framework and client system that present consumption method of REL right document.

  • 본 고에서는 MPEG에서 현재까지 진행되어 온 MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, MPEG-7 표준에 대해 간단히 소개하고, 새롭게 표준화가 진행되고 있는 MPEG-21에 대하여 자세히 살펴보기로 하겠다. 현재 MPEG-21의 표준화를 위하여 기술보고서 초안이 작성되고 있으며 전체적인 요구사항과 그와 관련된 기술들이 조사되고 있다. 따라서 본 고에서는 MPEG-21의 요구사항을 중심으로 MPEG-21의 표준화 동향에 대하여 살펴보기로 하겠다.

  • MPEG-21 표준화는 다양한 비즈니스 모델과 수시로 변화하는 소비자의 요구를 만족시킬 수 있는 멀티미디어 프레임워크 구성을 목적으로 만들어졌다. ISO/IEC JTC1 SC29에서 현재까지 진행한 MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-3, MPEG-4, MPEG-7 표준에 이어 MPEG-21이 등장하게 된 배경과 함께 본 고에서는 사용자 요구사항을 기반으로 총 7개의 프레임워크 요소로 구성되어 있는 MPEG-21의 표준화 동향에 대하여 살펴보았다.

  • Since MPEG-21 IPMP has been working on International Standardization activity such as one of DRM systems from 1997, the standardization is recently re-started even though the activity was interrupted. According to the MPEG Brisbane meeting, the CfR of MPEG-21 IPMP will be determined on the next Hawaii meeting, therefore they will announce the CfP. However the CfP announced in MPEG Hawaii meeting but the CfR didn't announce because of unfinished requirement document job. Finally. the proposed techniques will be submitted till June 2004. In this paper, we explained the requirement of standardization based on a broadcasting circumstance and implemented the system of MPEG-21 including the architecture and IPMP systems, then we showed all functionality within the other MPEG-21 elements engines. In case of multimedia stream broadcasting system, it is a real-time processing system, the implemented MEPG-21 Architecture can be shown the use of Digital Item In the MPEG-21 terminal and additional MPEG-21 element engines.

  • MPEG-21 defines a digital item as an atomic unit lot creation, delivery and consumption in order to provide an integrated multimedia framework in networked environments. It is expected that MPEG-21 standardization makes it Possible for users to universally access user's preferred contents in their own way they want. In order to achieve this goal, MPEG-21 has standardized the specifications for the Digital Item Declaration (DID). Digital Identification (DII), Rights Expression Language (REL), Right Data Dictionary (RDD) and Digital Item Adaptation (DIA), and is standardizing the specifications for the Digital Item Processing (DIP), Persistent Association Technology (PAT) and Intellectual Property Management and Protection (IPMP) tot transparent and secured usage of multimedia. In this paper, we design an MPEG-21 terminal architecture based one the MPEG-21 standard with DID, DIA and DIP, and implement with the MPEG-21 terminal. We make a video summarization service scenario in order to validate ow proposed MPEG-21 terminal for the feasibility to of DID, DIA and DIP. Then we present a series of experimental results that digital items are processed as a specific form after adaptation fit for the characteristics of MPEG-21 terminal and are consumed with interoperability based on a PC and a PDA platform. It is believed that this paper has n important significance in the sense that we, for the first time, implement an MPEG-21 terminal which allows for a video summarization service application in an interoperable way for digital item adaptation and processing nth experimental results.

  • MPEG-21 is an on-progress project of the Moving Picture Expert Group (MPEG) that has been started in many independent parts such as part for standardizing the declaration of a digital item (MPEG-21 Part 2: Digital Item Declaration), right expression language (MPEG-21 Part S: Rights Expression Language), way to process the digital item (MPEG-21 Part 10: Digital Item Processing), etc. All this part is intended to form a framework to enable transparent and augmented use of multimedia resources across a wide range of networks and devices (1). In this paper, we show our research initiative to develop a web-based application that utilized many parts of MPEG-21 technology. The implemented concept uses a digital item and license providers in the server side while the MPEG-21 Conformant application is implemented as a plug-in application that will be downloaded to the user terminal when user accesses the webpage for the frist time. The result of this research shows that with some combination of MPEG-21 parts, we can develop an authorized multimedia delivery and consumption application.

  • 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 저작, 생성, 전달을 통해 최종 소비에 이르기까지 콘텐츠를 보호하고 안전하게 다루기 위해 MPEG-21 IPMP(Intellectual Property Management and Protection)가 표준을 정의하고 있으며 현재 FCD(Final Committee Draft) 단계까지 표준화가 이루어졌다. 우리는 MPEG-21 IPMP에서 규정한 FCD규격에 따라 멀티미디어 콘텐츠와 그에 대한 저작권을 보호 관리하는 시스템을 개발하였다. 제안한 MPEG-21 기반 REL및 IPMP 보호 관리 시스템은 크게 보호 관리 메타데이터 생성부, 통합 제어 관리부, 디지털 아이템 암호화부, 네트워크 인터페이스부의 4부분으로 구성된다. 이 시스템은 먼저 라이센스 서버를 통해 MPEG-21 REL(Rights Expression Language) 규격에 맞는 라이센스 정보가 담긴 문서를 파싱하는 기능을 가지며 오디오 또는 비디오 워터마크가 적용된 멀티미디어콘텐츠에 대해 MPEG-21 IPMP 기반의 메타데이터를 생성하고 보호 관련 REL및 IPMP 메타데이터와 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 Remuxing 하여 전송되며 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 및 하나의 패키징된 DID는 암호화하여 최종 소비자에게 전송한다.

Focusing on DRM technologies, this paper covers with concept and ongoing activities of MPEG-21's parts - Digital Item Declaration which is the base unit of trade and delivery, Digital Item Identification, Intellectual Property Management & Protection, Rights Data Dictionary, Rights Expression Language, Persistent Association Technology, Event Reporting, and so on.

  • Today, thanks to the spread of Internet and the development of various multimedia technologies, broadcasting environment is changing in a way to merging broadcasting and communication environment. In such a new environment, transparent delivery and interoperability between different technologies become an important issue. In ISO/IEC MPEG meeting, MPEG-21 has been established. In MPEG-21, it is discussed actively about big picture to build an infrastructure for the delivery and consumption of multimedia contents. In this paper, we have applied Digital Item in MPEG-21 to broadcasting contents. Broadcasting Digital Item is generated using MPEG-7 MDS for the description of resources as well as Digital Item Declaration, and Digital Item Identification. Furthermore, we develop Digital Item generation system and parsing system. In experiment, we verify the usefulness of Broadcasting Digital Item by generating an education video contents and consuming it at different user environments.

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG-21 프레임 워크상에서 이용되는 기본 단위인 디지털 아이템을 생성하는 디지털 아이템 생성기의 구현에 대하여 논하였다. 디지털 아이템은 MPEG-21 표준에 정의된 디지털 아이템 선언에 기반하여 생성하였으며, 제작된 디지털 아이템 생성기의 유효성을 확인하기 위해 방송용 컨텐츠에 대해 적용하였다. 이 생성기는 MPEG-21 프레임워크 기반 시스템에 적용이 가능하다.
