  • One of the most difficult technical aspects of music is vocals (the voice). Unlike ordinary musical instruments, it is difficult to apply common values because the tone (that is, the color) varies greatly depending on the singer, and therefore, it is necessary to properly mix in various effects. Therefore, this study is intended to suggest concepts, the current state, and effective usage of reverberation (or reverb), which is the most typical of vocal effects, using wave renaissance reverb, which is one of the effects that are the most commonly used by students. The most important part of the mixing process in popular music is how to enhance the voice. Since the spatial impression of sound makes music more beautiful, the role of reverb as a vocal effect is absolute. Computer technology has made it easier to create music, but it has produced a side effect in which individual technique falls short, such as using predetermined presets only. Studies on the use of reverb by musicians through more detailed efforts are expected to contribute to creating good music.

  • This study examines how Latinidad can be reclaimed as a site for exploring affinities of Latinos in Latin music industry, especially from the 90s. By looking at sites where Latinidad is constituted, such as the case of Jennifer $L{\acute{o}}pez$ becoming Selena, it intends to suggest that the concept can be deployed as a political bridge to connect latinos. And by examining Cuban-American artists' self identification in Latin Grammy Awards, it reveals that the latin music business definitions of Latinidad is coded differently for them as 'Caribbean' to erase a natural resonance of Cuba. In addition, by dealing with Shakira's somewhat contradictory representation of Colombianidad, the study argues that Latinidad serves as a social construct and newly emerges as a convenient interstitial place between the Latin American and the US Latino. Shakira's case serves to show how the transnational trends of latin music contribute to create a simultaneous sense of Latinidad and Colombianidad. Focusing on the commercial significance of understanding of what latino is or should be, this paper aims to interrogate current understandings of Latinidad in the realm of latin music and popular culture.

  • Tropicália, which marked the beginning of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), is a musical genre that originated in the Brazilian cultural movement and this arose in the late 1960s. The musicians who participated in this cultural movement delivered radical innovation by embracing the international music trend of the 60s, such as the Beatles phenomenon and the experimental and creative music of the electronic age. The music derived from this era incorporated the cannibalism of the Brazilian modernism cultural movement in the 1920s, and it presented a cultural consilience while maintaining the traditional Brazilian culture. In particular, the convergence of Tropicália with rock was especially prominent. As rock grew into the culture of resistance in both Britain and the United States, the convergent characteristic of Tropicália reflected the critical sociocultural view toward Brazil at that time. This paper focuses on the element of fusion of traditional Brazilian music and the rock music present in Tropicália. To present a case study, this paper selected music pieces by Caetano Veloso, the essential pillar of Tropicália, and examined each element through specific music analysis. This study aims to establish an academic foundation for third-world music and contributes to the development and creation of fusion music.

A style that a certain stream of fashion brings is not just limited in fragmentary tendencies and fads. That can be a code to communicate and function as a medium in itself. Music has been displaying it's power to fashion while fashion has been exercising it's influence over the music. There is an inseparable relationship between music and fashion in terms of expressing our images of the world: fashion delivers them through visuality and music does it by sound. Both fashion and music are reflecting our society as well as they are influencing on sociocultural aspects generally. Whenever music has been changed new youth culture has been made and this culture has been expanded with forming some distinct fashion trends. The study focuses on identifying the relations between pop music and fashion styles which are occupying positions firmly on the bases of youth culture through analysing the relations between the fashion styles and music genres which are used in sub-culture groups to express their own identities and consciousness from a point of semiotics. In conclusion, subculture is the exit of their escaping from the compelling inconsistency cause by the condition of people's life and the way for them to solve through cultural sublimating for themselves. People come up with distinctive style of music and fashion to express their resistant signifie in their symbolic way. In addition, a particular music trend has much to do with a contemporary fashion style. • Many new technologies are studied with the arrival of the 4th industrial revolution. In particular, emotional intelligence is one of the popular issues. Researchers are focused on emotional analysis studies for music services, based on artificial intelligence and pattern recognition. However, they do not consider how we recommend proper music according to the specific emotion of the user. This is the practical issue for music-related IoT applications. Thus, in this paper, we propose an probability-based music emotion classification technique that makes it possible to classify music with high precision based on the range of emotion, when developing music related services. For user emotion recognition, one of the popular emotional model, Russell model, is referenced. For the features of music, the average amplitude, peak-average, the number of wavelength, average wavelength, and beats per minute were extracted. Multiple regressions were derived using regression analysis based on the collected data, and probability-based emotion classification was carried out. In our 2 different experiments, the emotion matching rate shows 70.94% and 86.21% by the proposed technique, and 66.83% and 76.85% by the survey participants. From the experiment, the proposed technique generates improved results for music classification.

  • The public knows the singer Shin Haechul as a musician who performs various musical activities as a producer, singer, and songwriter. However, he was also an all-encompassing entertainer who has been involved in different fields of popular media. His musical tendency is very progressive, and he pursues various attempts to create experimental fusion style music. Among his albums, 'MonoCrom' is the result of a combination of unique techno music and traditional music, and this album is known to bring the level of Korean popular music one step further in terms of musical value and meaning towards a new, unique sound. In this album, gukak holds great importance. In addition to the traditional samulnori instruments such as kkwaenggwari, janggu and jing, instruments like daegeum, taepyeongso, pumba and taryeong were used to show more progressive and expanded crossover music through the collaboration with gukak. In order for the current 'K-Pop' to continue to gain worldwide popularity, it needs a new attempt based on musical expandability. Therefore, if gukak is used as in the album MonoCrom, unique and differentiated music will be created, and will continually promote the worldwide interest in 'K-Pop'.
