  • Many improper development action were performed at subsurface environment, because there were not any definition about subsurface environment in Korea. The purpose of this study was to establich a definition on subsurface environment. Subsurface environment could be divided by subsurface natural environment and subsurface living environment. The soil, groundwater, ecosystems, landscapes, underground space (naturally occurred) were included in subsurface natural environment. And space and facilities used by human were classified as subsurface living environment.

Also, this study analyzes to see if there is moderation role of enthusiasm between work environment and burnout. Based on analyzation, the present study aims to suggest more effective measure of human resource management by reducing burnout and turnover through providing chefs with more stable and consistent work environment and through their enthusiasm. Research design, data, methodology - Surveys were distributed to chefs working in Chinese restaurant in Seoul and Kyunggi region. Total of 500 surveys were distributed between September 1, 2017 and September 20, 2017 (about 20 days), and 417 surveys were returned to be used in the analysis. Results - As a result of testing effect of chefs' work environment on burnout (1) welfare environment, personal environment, and institution environment had significant effect on loss of accomplishment. (2) welfare, personal, and institution environment had significant effect on deindividuation. (3) welfare environment and institution had significant effect on emotional deprivation while personal environment did not. Second, as a result of analysis on moderation role of obsessive enthusiasm between Chinese restaurant chefs' work environment and burnout (1) as a result of interaction between work environment and loss of accomplishment, personal environment had significant effect while welfare environment and institution environment did not. (2) As a result of interaction between work environment and deindividuation, welfare, personal, and institution environment did not have significant effect. (3) As a result of interaction between work environment and emotional deprivation, institution environment had significant effect while personal environment and welfare environment did not. Conclusions - There is manpower shortage due to poor work environment of Chinese restaurant. Studies that are not limited to work environment are needed to more efficiently utilize human resources.

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the actual condition of real certification schools of environment-friendly architecture per ecological environment elements through extracting ecological environment elements which is possible to analyze in quantity certification standards of environment friendly architecture. As the method of this study, firstly, certification as an examination on certification system of environment-friendly architecture, summary of certification system of environment-friendly architecture and eco-school pilot model project, ecological environment elements which is possible for quantitative analysis of ecological environment certification standards were extracted. Secondly, actual condition of ecological environment elements per school grade by collecting actual data of certification schools environment-friendly architecture were analyzed. As a result, total 35 environment-friendly school facilities are clarified that the average composition ratio of ecological area ratio is 23.0% in case of this certification regardless of school grade and region.

  • The environment is composed of at least two components, the natural and the human-made one. Nonetheless, the environment is being used to connote the natural environment. Moreover, even though the components of environment exist in a mutual relationship as a mechanism, it is rare to study the components of environment and their system as a mechanism. With such an implication, this paper aims to identify the components of environment and their system. The components of environment can be categorized by two criteria. One is the subject of creating environment, and the other is the visuality of environment. The former categorizes the environment into the natural and the human-made one, and the latter into physical and nonphysical one. Integrating the two criteria into a framework, the environment can be categorized into the natural, the human-made physical, and the human-made nonphysical environment. The three categories of environment exist interrelatedly in a mechanism being characterized as a mutual impact. The mechanism may be called the environmental system. The environmental system can be analyzed in terms of two dimensions. One is a human-inclusive system. The other is a human-centered system. The former is a framework that includes humans as a component of environment. The latter is a framework that humans are the subject of the environment, and the others surrounding human life are the object of the environment. The former is defined as a circular system of material and energy, while the latter is defined as a mutual subjective-objective system.

  • The objective of this study were to identify the state of re. cognition and attitude of residents in Seoul city about air environment and to identify factors affecting attitude toward air environment. Study object was residents in Seoul city sampled by multistage random proportional sampling. Sample size was 0.0067%(500 persons) of total residents in Seoul city. The results were divided into two parts: (1) descriptive results of recognition and attitude toward air environment, (2) results of factor analysis to classify categories of attitudes toward air environment and regression analysis to identify factors affecting attitude toward air environment. Most of resident in Seoul city recognized that air environment in Seoul city was highly polluted and was not satisfactory. Experience of damage of air pollution was reported in about 70% of residents in Seoul city. More than 60% of residents in Seoul city had concern about air environment. Attitude toward air environment were classified into four categories using factor analysis: Necessity of intervention of local government for air environment conservation, Participation of residents and enterprises for air environment conservation, Optimistic attitude about air pollution, Preference of economy. Factors affecting the above attitudes were knowledge about air pollution, knowledge about policies and institutions related air environment conservation, concern about air environment, educational level, subjective assessment of air environment, sex, marital status. In conclusion this study suggested providing information of air environment in Seoul city to the residents and to educating residents for making positive attitude about air environment conservation.

  • The objective of this study is to identify the research trend in the field of indoor environment in Korea. We collected 419 papers published in the Journal of the Korean Society for indoor environment between 2004 and 2018, and attempted to produce datasets using a topic modeling technique, Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA). The result of topic modeling showed that 8 topics ("VOCs investigation", "Subway environment", "Building thermal environment", "School health", "Building particulate matter", "Asbestos risk", "Radon risk", "Air cleaner and treatment") could be extracted using Gibbs sampling method. In terms of topic trends, investigation of volatile organic compounds, subway environment, school health, and building particulate matter showed a decreasing tendency, while the building thermal environment, asbestos risk, radon risk, air cleaners, and air treatment showed an increasing tendency. The results of this topic modeling could help us to understand current trends related indoor environment, and provide valuable information in developing future research and policy frameworks.
