Application of Highly Charged PAC and Polyamine admixture in Neutral Papermaking

  • Studied that the relationship between the charge density of PAC and its alkalinity, as well as the influences of PAC in paper sizing. Study results showed that PAC with higher charge density brought higher sizing degree when the same amount of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ content was dosed. However, there was no direct relationship between PAC charge density and its alkalinity, and higher PAC alkalinity can't improve its charge density. It was also found that the admixture (PPAC) of polyamine and PAC had higher charge density than PAC. The effects of PPAC on DRS and RAKD sizing were better than PAC sizing, when dosage and other sizing condition were the same.

Assessment of Acoustic Iterative Inverse Method for Bubble Sizing to Experimental Data

  • Comparative study was carried out for an acoustic iterative inverse method to estimate bubble size distributions in water. Conventional bubble sizing methods consider only sound attenuation for sizing. Choi and Yoon [IEEE, 26(1), 125-130 (2001)] reported an acoustic iterative inverse method, which extracts the sound speed component from the measured sound attenuation. It can more accurately estimate the bubble size distributions in water than do the conventional methods. The estimation results of acoustic iterative inverse method were compared with other experimental data. The experimental data show good agreement with the estimation from the acoustic iterative inverse method. This iterative technique can be utilized for bubble sizing in the ocean.

An Analysis of the Sizing System of Silver Apparel Brands as Compared with the KS Standards (실버의류브랜드 치수체계와 KS 규격간의 비교 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to comparison on the sizing system in silver apparel brands with the KS standards. For the comparison research, 3 women's wear brands(suit style, knitted suit style, casual style) which were different apparel style on occasion in madame-zone of department stores were selected. The subject of investigation of sizing system of these brands were the label. The results of the sizing system of silver apparel brands as compared with the KS standards were as follows: 1) For the upper wear of suit style, it is larger than KS standards that size of height is $5{\sim}15$ cm. 2) For the lower wear of suit style, suitability of size of hip circumference is lower than KS standards. 3) For the casual style, it is larger than KS standards that size of height is $10{\sim}20$ cm.

  • Conventional methodologies (empirical, analytical, numerical, hybrid, etc.) for sizing photovoltaic (PV) systems cannot be used when the relevant meteorological data are not available. To overcome this situation, modern methods based on artificial intelligence techniques have been developed for sizing the PV systems. In the present study, the optimum PV/inverter sizing ratio for grid-connected PV systems with orientation due south and inclination angles of $45^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ in selected Algerian locations was determined in terms of total system output using type-2 fuzzy logic. Because measured data for the locations chosen were not available, a year of synthetic hourly meteorological data for each location generated by the PVSYST software was used in the simulation.

  • A statistical method was developed to examine the US navy women's sizing system. Subjects including 906 navy female personnels were classified into seven groups based on the body type. Regression analyses were performed within seven groups to determine the sizing system maximizing the fitness of clothing in each group. New parameters were developed and used to statistically investigate the fitness level based upon boty navy sizing system and regression based system in this study. A customizef SAS program was used to compute the fitness levels. Results indicated that the navy sizing system showed lower fitness level in most groups except Juniour than the regression based system. It was concluded that the current method with new parameters could be used as an objective tool to evaluate the existing or new sizing system. This method can be further validated in other sample populations.

  • This paper presents a microfluidic cell sizing method using hydrophoretic size-based separation. By exploiting slanted obstacles in a microchannel, we can generate a lateral pressure gradient so that microparticles can be deflected and arranged along lateral flows induced by the gradient. Using such movement of particles, we discriminated 8 to 15 μm-sized beads. We measured the size of U937 cells by comparing the hydrophoretic response of the cells to those of the size-standard beads whose diameters are known. Due to its simple design and fabrication, the sizing method can be easily integrated with other microfluidic components such as cell culture chambers conducting on-chip sizing and sorting.

  • Interest about information infrastructure construction is decayed socially according to arrival of information age, and various information systems is constructed for efficient business processing, customer service improvement in public sector. According to subjective method of performance improvement for information system of public sector and engine that propel information system construction bemuse it is no definite hardware sizing guidelines for introduction or system caterer, is calculating resources scale of information system. Is situation that problem of excess of scale or reduction sizing is happening, and is causing various kinds problem that is waste of information budget and service decline thereby. So, We proposed hardware sizing framework for information system that is applied to information programs.

  • Extensive width reduction of slabs is an important technology for achieving continuous production between the steelmaking and hot rolling processes. However, the vertical horizontal rolling process has many disadvantages, e.g., large width deviations and less efficient width reduction. This study was carried out to investigate the deformation of slab by sizing press with two steps die. To do it, dog-bone and camber are discussed in width sizing process considering the deformation behavior according to the deviation of anvil velocity and the deviation of initial slab temperature. In this paper, the various causes of the sizing press phenomena are mentioned for the purpose of understanding of rolling conditions. As a result, the optimal anvil shape having a minimum-forming load is obtained by FE-simulation and ANN.

  • Reaction drive rotor system is capable of providing hover and low speed capabilities to different aircraft concepts such as stopped rotor wing, canard rotor wing, compound gyroplane etc. Existing sizing and analysis tools for shaft drive rotor system cannot be applied directly to this system. The available methodologies to size this system were reviewed. Power available calculation procedure and factors affects it were addressed prior to sizing process. Various design issues of this system due to interrelationship of internal gas flow dynamics and rotor external aerodynamics was discussed. Finally, a modification that is required in existing sizing methodologies was identified and combined approach in sizing process to consider the interrelationship among engine, rotor and blade duct was introduced.

  • The pricing/lot-sizing problem of determining the robust optimal order quantity and selling price is discussed. The uncertainty of parameters characterized by an ellipsoid is explicitly incorporated into the problem. An approximation scheme is proposed to transform the problem into a geometric program, which can be efficiently and reliably solved using interior-point methods.
