  • In this paper, we study the efficiency of the stratified estimator in related with the variance lower bound of Horvitz-Thompson estimator subject to the superpopulation model. Especially, we compare the variance lower bound of optimum allocation with that of power allocation subject to Dalenius-Hedges stratification.

  • The Library and Information Policy Committee announced the national comprehensive plan for all library on August, 2008. The plan includes reestablishing of a subject-based national library system as one of the major policy challenges. The aim of this paper is to analyse and compare the subject-based national library system and relative gap in major countries(U.S.A, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, and Korea). And the result of the research will be used as a logical basis for subsequent research.

  • Purpose: This study was designed to compare direct cost and indirect cost between home care and hospital care according to subject's characteristics. Method: The subjects of this study were patients with cerebrovascular disease. They were 50 patients in six university hospitals and 49 in four home care centers. Data were collected by using two type of questionnaires and reviewing medical records, home care service records and medical-fee claims from April 4th to September 13th, 2001. Result: The results were as follows; First, there was a statistically significant difference of direct cost between home care and hospital care, however, there was not a statistically significant difference of indirect cost. Second, according to subject's characteristics, six variables had statistically significant differences; sex, age, marital status, economy, job and diagnosis. Conclusion: It was found that cost-saving effect of home care was affected by subject's characteristic factors. More study needs to be done to develop a more detailed selection criteria for home care subjects.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze subject matters opened on Dept of Home Economics Education in Korea and U.S.A. For this study, 17 undergraduate catalog and college course guidelines of Korea and the 15 undergraduate catalog and course guidelines of U.S.A. were collected. Collected materials were compared and analyzed. For this comparision and analysis, classified the subject matters as three steps based on these data. Collected data were analyzed by arithmetic mean, percentage, frequency. The conclusions are as followings ; 1. The number of the Home Economics Education relative subject matters opened in Korea is 10% below, and U.S.A.'s is 20~30%. The ratio of U.S.A. is higher than that of Korea. 2. The domain of clothes & textiles and foods and nutrition is 50% in Korea, So, There is unbalance in Korea. 3. U.S.A. oftened various names of subject matters by characteristics more than in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce the math-clinic programs which offer to engineering students and to compare the subject satisfaction between participants and non-participants. Five math-clinic programs are operated and 1397 students took part in this study. As a result, the Likert-type scales of satisfaction with three programs; the exercise problems solving class, the tutoring program and the achievement tests, were 4.07, 4.05 and 3.95, respectively(5-point Likert-type scale). And we found that the participants expressed higher subject satisfactions than nonparticipations did.

  • A system subject to random shocks is considered. The shocks arrive according to a Poisson process and the amount of each shock is exponentially distributed. In this paper, a periodic inspection policy for the system is compared with a random inspection policy. After assigning several maintenance costs to the system, we calculate and compare the long-run average costs per unit time under two policies.

  • Purpose: Identifying microbial communities with 16S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene sequencing is a popular approach in microbiome studies, and various software tools and data resources have been developed for microbial analysis. Our aim in this study is investigating various available software tools and reference sequence databases to compare their performance in differentiating subject samples and negative controls. Methods: We collected 4 negative control samples using various acquisition protocols, and 2 respiratory samples were acquired from a healthy subject also with different acquisition protocols. Quantitative methods were used to compare the results of taxonomy compositions of these 6 samples by varying the configuration of analysis software tools and reference databases. Results: The results of taxonomy assignments showed relatively little difference, regardless of pipeline configurations and reference databases. Nevertheless, the effect on the discrepancy was larger using different software configurations than using different reference databases. In recognizing different samples, the 4 negative controls were clearly separable from the 2 subject samples. Additionally, there is a tendency to differentiate samples from different acquisition protocols. Conclusion: Our results suggest little difference in microbial compositions between different software tools and reference databases, but certain configurations can improve the separability of samples. Changing software tools shows a greater impact on results than changing reference databases; thus, it is necessary to utilize appropriate configurations based on the objectives of studies.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyse the subject organization and teaching units of middle school science curriculums and science textbooks, by studying the organization of subject matter and content scope and level of middle school science subject in South and North Korea. As a result of this study, the composition, scope, and level of content between middle school science textbooks in South and North Korea were similar. However, the study found that science education objectives, separated science curriculum subject organization, economical efficiency weighted format and organization of science subject matter, result-centered experiments, the enlightenment of Kim Ilsung and his son in North Korea science education were very far from the desirable direction of science education. Therefore, the view on level-based curriculum and organization of the science curriculum should be integrated, and preparation of student-centered organization of textbooks and expansion of science-technology-society content is needed before unification. And also, the united Korea science curriculum shouldn't simply compromise or neutralize between middle school science curriculum in South and North Korea. They should make a future-oriented plan for information and globalism society.

  • In this paper, we propose a plural subject account of group beliefs using grounding concept, which bridges the gap between the two main approaches of ACLs, the mentalistic accounts and the social commitment accounts. The key idea of this Gilbert's plural subject account of group beliefs is to extend the grounding logic into the common ground framework for the semantics of ACLs which is fully verifiable, fully formalized and easily applicable. Thus, we formalize the proper group belief concept using common ground framework and we define the semantics of the primitive speech acts of FIPA-ACL such as inform, request and confirm as case studies. Also, we illustrate our framework on an e-commerce agent purchase negotiation and compare this proposed framework with two traditional semantics for ACLs.
