  • 웹 서비스 자동화를 위해서는 웹 서비스 자동발견(Automatic Web Services Discovery) 기능, 자동 실행(Automatic Web Services Execution), 자동 구성과 상호운용(Automatic Web Services Composition and Interoperation)이 가능해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 웹 서비스 합성(Web Services Composition)에 중점을 둔다. 웹 서비스의 입력 및 출력 정보를 비롯하여 프리컨디션(precondition), 포스트컨디션(postcondition), 웹 서비스 제공자 정보, 웹 서비스 위치 정보 등과 같은 웹 서비스 기본 사항들과 웹 서비스 합성을 의미 기반으로 수행하기 위한 웹 서비스의 수행(action)타입, 서비스 객체(object)와 같은 의미적 요소들을 온톨로지(ontology)를 이용하여 기술한다. 그러므로 기존의 WSDL(Web Service Description Language)이 한계점을 드러냈던 서비스에 대한 의미 정보 기술이 가능하다 또한, 웹 서비스간의 의미적 상호운용을 지원함으로써 자연스럽게 내부 또는 외부의 이질적인 어플리케이션간의 통합 서비스를 제공하고 새로운 비즈니스 시스템과의 통합도 자동적으로 이루어지게 하는 웹 서비스 합성 시스템 Genie를 개발한다.

  • Web services (WS) present a new promising software technology, which provides application-to-application interaction. They are built on the top of existing web protocol and based on open XML standards. Web services are described using WSDL, and the UDDI is a integration directory provide registry of Web Services descriptions. WSDL provides information of Web Services but it is getting more and more important to know more than those provided by WSDL. From WSDL we can not get the information like usage of WS, performance of WS, complexity of WS, usability of WS with other web service. In this paper, we proposed a new method for Web Services so called Public Web Services Analyzer (PWSA). This technique is based on analyzing various public UDDI registries in order to get various kinds of statistics of web services. Those statistics will be used by both web services developers and consumers for finding them suitable services for their needs. PWSA guarantees that it can provide enough information to find right web services for both Web Services Consumers and Web Service Developers.

An Enhanced SOAP Message Processing System for Mobile Web Services

  • Web services are key applications in business­to-business, business-to-customer, and enterprise applications integration solutions. As the mobile internet becomes one of the main methods for information delivery, mobile Web Services are regarded as a critical aspect of e-business architecture. In this paper, we proposed a mobile Web Services middleware that converts conventional internet services into mobile Web services. We implemented a WSDL (Web Service Description Language) builder that converts HTML/XML into WSDL and a SAOP (Simple Object Access Protocol) message processor that performs SOAP message handling, chain and handling of server requests. The former minimizes the overhead cost of rebuilding mobile Web Services and enables seamless services between wired and wireless internet services. The latter enhances SOAP processing performance by eliminating the Servlet container (Tomcat), a required component of typical Web services implementation. Our main contributions are to overcome the latency problem of current Web Services and to provide an easy mobile Web service implementation. Our system can completely support standard Web Services protocol, minimizing communication overhead, message processing time, and server overload. Finally we compare our empirical results with those of typical Web Services.

A QoS-aware Web Services Selection for Reliable Web Service Composition

  • Web Services have been utilized in a wide variety of applications and have turned into a key technology in developing business operations on the Web. Originally, Web Services can be exploited in an isolated form, however when no single Web Service can satisfy the functionality required by a user, there should be a possibility to compose existing services together in order to fulfill the user requirement. However, since the same service may be offered by different providers with different non-functional Quality of Service (QoS), the task of service selection for Web Service composition is becoming complicated. Also, as Web Services are inherently unreliable, how to deliver reliable Web Services composition over unreliable Web Services should be considered while composing Web Services. In this paper, we propose an approach on a QoS-aware Web Service selection for reliable Web Service composition. In our approach, we select and classify Web Services using Decision Tree based on QoS attributes provided by the client. Service classifier will improve selection of relevant Web Services early in the composition process and also provide flexibility to replace a failed Web Services with a redundant alternative Web Services, resulting in high availability and reliability of Web Service composition. We will provide an implementation of our proposed approach along with efficiency measurements through performance evaluation.

  • Web services and their composition (web processes) are promising technologies to efficiently integrate disparate software components over various types of systems. As many web services are nowadays available on Internet, quality of services (QoS) and performance/cost become increasingly important to differentiating between similar service providers. In this work, we introduce sPAC (Web Services Performance Analysis Centre) and show how customers can benefit from sPAC to consider performance in composing and commercializing web services. sPAC 1) helps users to graphically describe the workflow of web services, 2) invokes web services to test out performance for light load conditions, 3) automatically converts the web services and the flow between them into a simulation model, 4) conducts extensive simulations for heavy load conditions and various usage patterns, and 5) reports analysis results and estimation data for the web services.

  • Web Services for CAD (WSC) aims at interoperation with CAD systems based on Web Services. This paper introduces one part of WSC which enables remote users to retrieve assembly model data using Web Services. However, retrieving assembly model data takes long time. To resolve this problem, this paper proposes using parallel Web Services. As assembly models comprise a set of part models, it is easy to separate the problem domain into smaller problems. In addition, Web Services inherently supports distributed computing. This characteristic makes the parallel processing of Web Services easy. Firstly, the implementation of WSC which retrieves assembly model data based parallel Web Services is shown. And then, for the comparison, the experiments on the retrieval of assembly model data based on single Web Services and parallel Web Services are shown.

  • A Web service is a software system designed to support interoperable machine-to-machine interaction over a network. These systems may then interact with the Web service in a manner prescribed by its definition, using XML based such as SOAP, WSDL, UDDI messages conveyed by Internet protocols. Especially, UDDI is the Web Services Registry enabling to register and search Web Services, that takes charge of providing infrastructure for Web Services. However, the existing UDDI has a few problems that searching process is very simple and it cannot provide information of Web Services quality and quality-based retrieval. Therefore, this study suggest the Web Services quality description model that evaluates the Web Services quality.

  • XML Web Services are a distributed computing component which enables users to use services existing in remote places by using a standardized language called XML. Web Services were developed as the cooperation and business scales between companies as businesses had been widened due to the improvement of internet services. For this reason, enterprise sized Web Services are mainly used at present. But as the number of Internet users has been increased, they became in need of more diverse services, and providing individual Web Services are also being more emphasized. Therefore, an Embedded Web Server for personal Web Services for embedded systems such as cell phones had been implemented in this paper. This paper shows the possibility of building up a small, personal sized Web Services Server not the enterprise sized one by doing real implementation.

  • DCOM, CORBA 등의 분산객체(distribute object)의 뒤를 이어 등장한 웹 서비스(Web Services) 기술은 SOAP, WSDL, UDDI 둥의 XML 기반의 공개 표준을 바탕으로 하여 웹을 통한 원격 프로시저 호출(Remote Procedure call)의 메커니즘을 제공하여, e-비즈니스에서 통합과 협업의 방법으로 최근 각광을 받고 있다. 특히, UDDI는 웹 서비스를 등록 및 검색을 가능하게 해주는 레지스트리(registry)로, 웹 서비스를 위한 인프라를 제공하는 역할을 담당하고 있다. 하지만 기존 UDDI는 검색 방법이 단순하고, 해당 웹 서비스의 품질을 평가하여 검색할 수 있는 방법을 제공하고 있지 못하다는 문제를 가지고 있다. 본 논문은 웹 서비스의 품질을 평가하여 그에 대한 검색을 가능하게 해줄 수 있는 UDDI 개선 모델을 제안하고자 한다.

  • The beginning of Web Services was understood as efficient technology for application integration in the internet, thus it was used to integrating the distributed enterprise applications or the e-business applications between partners. But, recently the usage trend of Web Services is largely spreaded out wireless network applications beyond the internet applications. The main reasons are that Web Services is the international standard of W3C, and Web Services is based on XML that is independent of the specific internal implementations such as platform, programming languages, communications networks etc. Currently Major company of Web Services such as MS, IBM, etc. focus on the research about technology for integrating various devices. In this paper, we define and explain technical issues for adapting web services to ubiquitous Environment.
