Abstract

The assessment of water vapor permeability of woven fabrics is reviewed from the points of view both of its importance and its measurement. An experimental approach for evaluating the water vapor transfer resistance of woven fabrics based on Fourt's and Whelan's equations, is described. We made a tester measuring the weight of water vapor transfered through specimen by Fick's law. With this tester some experiments have been carried out for ring-spun worsted fabrics under the environmental conditions. and the following conclusion is derived, The relationship between water vapor transfer resistance (Rp) and intrinsic resistance(Rw) calculated from the specifications of woven cloth construction is well fitted into the regression equation of RF=CO+CIRW (where, Co=7.8864×10-2. Cl=5.424×10-2).
