Abstract

Thermoplastic composite is stronger and lighter than thermosetting composite, and it has great compression strength and high processability. However, the thermoplastic resin is difficult to be impregnated into the reinforced fiber because the resin is a ploymer and its melt viscosity is high. Unidirectional composites were fabricated by using commingled yarn that consisted of glass fiber as reinforcing fiber and PP, nylons and PET as matrix fibers. Longiludinal(0$^{\circ}$), 30$^{\circ}$, 45$^{\circ}$, 60$^{\circ}$, and transverse(90$^{\circ}$) bending strength were investigated by three point bending text. The results were as follows : Bending strength of commingled yarn composites were higher than that of uncommingled yarn composites in each direction.
