Electronic Publishing and Its Impact on the Library Fuctions

전통적 도서관에서 디지털도서관으로의 변화를 매체 패러다임의 변화, 또는 소유로부터 접근으로 도서관 기능의 패러다임 변화로 보고 있으나 도서관이 정보를 직접 생산하는 기관이 아니므로 출판시스템의 변화가 도서관의 변화를 선도하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 본 논문은 전자출판이 정보매체를 변화시키는 요인일 뿐 아니라 정보의 생산과 유통, 그리고 이용에 이르는 커뮤니케이션 전 과정을 변화시키는 요인이라는 점에 초점을 맞추어 디지털도서관의 가능성을 도서관을 포함한 학술커뮤니케이션 시스템의 변혁이라는 거시적 관점과 도서관 기능의 다변화라고 하는 미시적 관점에서 분석하였다.

The emergence of digital library has been recognized as the paradigm shift of medium from paper to electronic, or that of the library function from ownership to access. From the point of view that digital information is the core constituent of digital library and is produced by electronic publishing, this paper explores the relationship between electronic publishing and digital library with special attention on recent digital library projects. And investigates the possibility of the transformation of scholarly communication system through digital library function as well as the impact of electronic publishing on the library functions.
