문헌정보학의 현상(現狀)과 발전방향

The Status quo and Perspectives of the Library and Information Science

본 연구는 문헌정보학이 어떠한 상황에 처해 있으며, 어떠한 문제를 안고 있으며, 무엇이 요구되는가에 대해 검토하고 이를 토대로 현실에 적합한 문헌정보학의 발전방향에 대해 논의하였다. 이를 위해 첫째, 문헌정보학이 하나의 독립된 학문으로서 어떠한 발전 단계를 거쳐왔는가를 여러 학자들이 제시한 문헌정보학의 발전단계를 조사하여 제시하였다. 둘째, 문헌정보학의 이론적 근거를 확보하기 위한 다양한 접근양상들 -기능주의적 접근, 환원주의적 접근 및 형이상학적 접근 등- 을 검토해 보았다. 셋째, 문헌정보학이 지니고 있는 현상들을 점검하였다. 제시된 문헌정보학의 현상으로는 토착성의 결여, 전문용어의 혼란 이론적 토대의 결여 및 문헌정보학 이론에 대한 인식의 다양성 등을 제시하였다. 넷째, 문헌정보학의 발전방향을 모색해 보고, 특히 문헌정보학 교육프로그램 포함되어야 할 영역들을 제시하였다.

The primary objectives of this paper has been to survey the present status quo and problems of the library and information science and to pursuit the perspectives of library and information science. For these, this paper has discussed (1) historical development of the library and information science, (2) the library and information science researcher's approach methods to the library and information science theory, (3) the present status quo and problems that are confronting in the area of the library and information science and (4) the perspectives of the library and information science and especially the library and information science education programs.
