Effect of Brassica rapa Sprouts on Lipid Metabolism in Rats Fed High Fat Diet

순무 싹이 고지방식이를 급여한 흰쥐의 지질대사에 미치는 영향

Abstract

This study was performed to investigate the effect of Brassica rapa (BR) sprouts on weight reduction and cholesterol-lowering action in rats fed high fat diet for 4 weeks. Weight-matched male Sprague-Dawley rats were assigned to four groups according to dietary fat levels (10% or 20% of diet wt.). Experimental groups were normal diet group (N), high fat diet group (HF), high fat diet with 5% BR sprouts powder group (HF-BRL), and high fat diet with 10% BR sprouts powder group (HF-BRH). The body weight gain was increased in HF group, but gradually decreased to the corresponding level of the N group fed BR sprouts powder. The concentrations of serum LDL-cholesterol, atherogenic index and cardiac risk factor tended to decrease in the BR sprouts powder fed groups compared with the HF group. However, HDL-cholesterol concentration in serum decreased in the HF group and markedly increased in the BR sprouts powder fed groups. Concentrations of triglyceride and total cholesterol in liver were also markedly decreased in the BR sprouts powder fed groups. Triglyceride concentrations of epididymal and mesenteric adipose tissues in the BR sprouts powder fed groups were also decreased compared with the HF group. These results indicate that BR sprouts powder may reduce fat accumulation and body weight, and have cholesterol-lowering effect.

순무 싹이 in vivo에서 고지방식이로 유발된 고지혈증 흰쥐의 지질대사 개선 및 체중저하 효과를 측정한 결과는 다음과 같다. 체중증가량과 식이섭취량은 고지방식이와 순무싹분말 첨가군들(HF-BRL, HF-BRH)은 고지방식이군(HF)에 비하여 유의하게 감소하였으며, 순무 싹 분말 첨가 수준이 증가할수록 식이섭취량은 감소하였다. 체중 당 간조직의 무게는 순무 싹 분말의 첨가로 간조직의 무게에는 영향을 미치지 않았으나, 고지방식이로 증가되어진 부고환조직 및 장간막지방조직의 무게는 고지방식이와 순무 싹 분말 첨가군들(HF-BRL, HF-BRH) 모두 고지방식이군(HF)에 비하여 유의하게 감소하였다. 고지방식이로 증가되어진 혈청 중 ALT, AST 및 ALP 활성은 순무 싹 분말의 혼합식이로 감소되었다. ALT 활성은 고지방식이와 10% 순무 싹 분말 첨가군(HF-BRH)의 경우 고지방식이군(HF)과 유의차를 보이며 감소하였고, AST 및 ALP 활성은 고지방식이와 순무 싹분말 첨가군들(HF-BRL, HF-BRH) 모두 고지방식이군(HF)과 유의차를 보이며 감소하였다. 고지방식이와 순무 싹 분말첨가군들(HF-BRL, HF-BRH)은 고지방식이군(HF)에 비하여 혈청 중 중성지방 함량은 유의하게 감소되었고, 혈청 중 총콜레스테롤 함량은 고지방식이와 순무 싹 분말 첨가군들(HF-BRL, HF-BRH) 모두 고지방식이군(HF)에 비하여 약간 감소하였으나 유의성은 없었다. 순무 싹 분말의 급여로 인하여 고지방식이로 감소된 혈청 HDL-콜레스테롤 함량은 증가되었고, 고지방식이로 증가된 혈청 LDL-콜레스테롤 함량과 동맥경화지수 및 심혈관위험지수는 유의하게 감소되었다. 간조직 중 총콜레스테롤 함량은 고지방식이와 순무싹 분말 첨가군들(HF-BRL, HF-BRH) 모두 고지방식이군(HF)에 비하여 유의하게 감소하였고, 간조직 중 중성지방함량은 고지방식이군(HF)에 비하여 고지방식이와 10% 순무싹 분말 첨가군(HF-BRH)에서 유의한 감소 효과를 보였다. 부고환지방조직과 장간막지방조직의 총콜레스테롤 함량은 순무 싹 분말 첨가로 유의적인 감소 효과는 없었다. 부고환지방조직과 장간막지방조직 중 중성지방 함량은 고지방식이와 순무 싹 분말 첨가군들(HF-BRL, HF-BRH)은 고지방식이군(HF)에 비하여 유의적인 감소 효과를 보였다. 이상의 결과 순무 싹이 흰쥐의 고지방식이에 의한 체중 및 지방조직의 무게 감소 효과와 체내 중성지방 및 총콜레스테롤 상승을 억제시키는 등 지질대사 개선에 효과가 있다고 사료되나 이와 관련된 기능성분 및 작용기전에 대해서는 더욱 구체적이고 체계적인 연구가 요구된다.
