서발턴에 대한 진실한 기록, 1970년대 르포

A Turly Record of Subaltern, Reportage in 1970s

이 글에서는 1970년대 노동자, 농민, 도시빈민 등 당시 사회에서 소외된 지점에 놓여 있었던 서발턴의 삶을 기록한 르포를 연구하였다. 70년대 르포는 소설이 가닿지 못한 서발턴의 삶을 생생하게 재현하고 있다. 리얼리즘 소설이 서발턴의 삶과 생활에 대해 감상주의 혹은 소재주의의 한계를 노정할 때, 그를 대신해 서발턴을 주체 혹은 매개로 내세워 그들의 삶을 진실하게 기록한 것이다. 당대 르포는 서발턴이 직접 글쓰기 주체로 나선 수기․일기와 함께 논픽션 글쓰기의 영역을 개척하여 기존의 문학장을 확장시키는 역할을 담당하였다. 문학 엘리트의 전유물이자 완강한 제도적인 틀에 갇혀 있었던 한국문학, 특히 서사텍스트가 신문과 잡지 등 담론매체의 형성에 힘입어 기존 문학질서를 뒤흔들었던 것이다. 이는 노동과 생산의 주체가 창작의 주체로 부상하여, 자기 계급에 대한 확신과 역사와 사회에 대한 주체적 역할에 대한 인식의 확대로도 전개되었다. 이 글에서 주목한 것은 전문작가가 보여주는 서발턴의 기록이다. 이것이 당시 지식인작가의 한계에서 배태된 민족문학의 위기를 대신할 한 가능성을 드러내고 있기 때문이다. 전문작가라는 동일한 위치에 존재하면서 심층취재를 통해 당대 현실과 노동 속에 가로놓인 서발턴에 대해 지식인작가와는 다른 시각과 접근을 보여주었던 것이다. 즉 노동 모순의 직접적인 이해당사자인 대기업 공장노동자부터 그 모순으로부터 파생된 가정부, 심지어는 접대부의 삶까지 취재하여 그들의 생활을 여과 없이 보여주었다. 이와 같이 70년대 전문리포터의 르포는 개별적인 서발턴에 주목하기도 하면서 서발턴의 삶을 둘러싸고 있는 어용노조나 비정규학교, 더 나아가 기존 언론매체에 의해 왜곡된 사건까지 파헤쳤다. 이와 같은 현장성과 다양성 때문에 리얼리즘문학보다 르포로 전해지는 서발턴의 삶의 이야기가 훨씬 큰 공감대를 불러일으켰던 것이다.

This article studies reportage of 1970s life of subaltern like laborer,peasants, urban lower class and so on. 70s reportage represented the lifeof subaltern lively. Instead of when the realism novel revealed the limitof sentimentalism or materialism about subaltern's life, reportagerecorded the vivid life of subaltern as a subject. The reportage of theday took charge of breaking the domain of nonfiction writing to extendliterary-field. At that time, Korean literature was limited as a positionsof literary elite and stubborn institutional structure. Especially, the formof discourses media like news and magazine helped narrative text tobreak the existing literary order. This made labor and production'ssubject rose as a subject of creation and developed extension ofrecognition about conviction of own class and subjective role for historyand society.This article focuses a record of subaltern written by professionalwriter. It is because this revealed a possibility of substitution madefrom national literature's crisis which originated from elite writer'sboundary at that time. It represented from the life of enterprise laborerwho is germane parties of labor contradiction to the life of housekeeperand also barmaid which deprived from the contradict. 70s professionalreporter's reportage observes individual subaltern. And it dug into theaffair was strained by company dominated union which surroundsubaltern's life or irregular school and existing media. Because of the practical field and the variety, subaltern's life story was encouragedempathy by reportage than realism.
