The Mediating Effects of Self-esteem on the Relationship between Parenting Behaviors and Peer Relations Among Adolescents

부모의 양육행동과 청소년의 또래관계 간 관련성에서 자아존중감의 매개효과

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of self-esteem on the relationship between parenting behaviors and peer relations among adolescents. The subjects of this study were middle school students who reside in Seoul. 425 self reported questionnaires were used for final analysis. Findings of this study from structural equation modeling analysis indicated that parenting behaviors affected self-esteem. Self-esteem of adolescents influenced peer relations. This study showed that self-esteem mediated the relationship between parenting behaviors and peer relations.

본 연구는 청소년을 대상으로 하여 부모의 양육행동과 또래관계 간 관련성에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 자료 수집을 위하여 서울시에 있는 중학교 3학년 남녀 학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 425부의 자료를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 본 연구의 자료 분석 결과, 부모의 양육행동은 청소년의 자아존중감에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 자아존중감은 또래관계에 높은 수준의 영향을 미쳤다. 구조모형 분석 결과를 살펴보면, 부모의 양육행동은 청소년의 자아존중감에 직접적으로 영향을 미치고 또 자아존중감은 또래관계에 영향을 미쳐, 부모의 양육행동은 자아존중감을 매개로 하여 청소년 자녀의 또래관계에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 부모의 양육행동이 자아존중감을 통해 또래관계에 영향을 미친다는 것을 밝힘으로써 부모의 양육행동과 또래관계 간의 관련성에서 자아존중감의 매개효과를 확인하였다.
