우울증의 시적 발현 연구 -최승자의 시집 『이 時代의 사랑』을 중심으로-

A study of poetic expression of Melancholia -Focusing on the poetry “Love of this age“ of Choi Seung-ja

최승자의 첫 시집 『이 시대의 사랑』에는 죽음의 이미지가 가득하다. 그리고 이 죽음의 이미지는 자살 욕구에서 비롯된다. 프로이트는 우울증의 주요 증상이 자기 처벌이고 이는 자살의 욕구로 나타난다고 주장하였다. 이러한 프로이트의 우울증에 대한 이론은, 최승자 시의 자살 욕구가 어디에서 비롯되는 가를 규명하는데 하나의 실마리가 될 수 있다. 프로이트는 슬픔과 우울증이 많은 공통점을 지니고 있다고 보았다. 슬픔과 우울증은 둘 다 사랑하는 대상을 상실하는데서 비롯된다. 그에 의하면 대개의 사람들은 리비도를 상실된 대상에서 철회하거나 다른 대상으로 방향을 전환함으로써 그 상실감을 극복한다. 그러나 대상에 대한 리비도를 철회하지 못하거나 방향 전환에도 실패한 리비도는 결국에는 자기 자신에게로 되돌아 오게 된다. 그런데 자아는 대상 상실의 책임을 대상에게 전가한다. 그러나 그 대상은 이미 자신에게 되돌아와 자아와 동일시 되어 있다. 따라서 대상에 대한 처벌은 자아를 향하는 것과 같다. 이렇게 됨으로써 대상에 대한 처벌의식은 자아 처벌로 나타나게 된다. 이것이 프로이트가 주장한 우울증의 전형적인 과정이다. 최승자의 시에서 보여주는 죽음은 바로 이러한 우울증의 과정을 충실하게 따라간다.

Choi Seungja's first poetry, Love in this age, is full of images of death. And this image of death comes from suicidal desire. Freud argued that the main symptom of melancholia is self-punishment, which appears as a desire for suicide. This theory of Freud's melancholia can be aclue to the elucidation of the suicidal desire of Choi Seung - Ja. Freudsaw sorrow and melancholia as having much in common. Both sorrowand melancholia are caused by the loss of loved objects. According to him, most people overcome the sense of loss by withdrawing the libido from the lost object or diverting it to another object. However Libido that fails to withdraw or redirect the libido to the subject eventually returns to himself. However, the self passes the responsibility of the loss of object to the object. But the object is already identified with the egoback to itself. Therefore, the punishment for the object is the same as for the self. As a result, the punishment for the object becomes self-punishment. This is the typical process of Freud's alleged melancholia. Thedeath of Choi Seungja in his poetry faithfully followed the process of melancholia.
