A Study on the Job and Business Creation Case in the Fashion Industry through a Job Creation Support Project Customized for Local Industries

Local industry-specific job creation support projects are job support projects hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and organized under the local governments to support education, employment and start-ups in the relevant area. These projects aim to maximize effectiveness by inducing collaboration and participation between public-private industries and academia, so that current regional problems can be solved autonomously within the region. The progress of a four-year project was studied from 2019 to 2022. The project was a regional industry-specific project to solve the problems of local industries. In fashion and sewing, major industries of Seongdong and Seongbuk, small manufacturers had difficulty hiring manpower due to the imbalance between the supply and demand of work. A human and material cluster was created with government, industry, and university cooperation. Through this governance, education, production, design, and marketing were connected, and a consumer-participating integrated ecosystem of the fashion industry was established with meaningful achievements. Based on the project, a job platform was developed that supports job matching and market extension. In addition, various business models were established by co-branding, co-purchasing, and commercialization. Sungdong-gu and Seongbuk-gu have secured the fashion network infrastructure that enables education, design, production, and collaboration in the fashion industry. The project ultimately led to the contributed creation of quality jobs by cultivating professional manpower and linking them to industries, and has become an excellent case of linking work to companies participating in employment succession through work linkage, which is the largest difficulty.
