초록

Objectives This study aimed to analyze the trends of clinical research on traditional Korean medicine (TKM) treatment for plantar fasciitis published in domestic and foreign papers from 2015 to 2024. Methods A comprehensive search of six electronic databases including Research Information Sharing Service, Korean studies Information Service System, Korean Medical Database, Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and PubMed was conducted using keywords related to plantar fasciitis and TKM treatments. Results Twenty nine clinical studies were finally selected. These studies included various TKM interventions including acupuncture, fumigation, extracorporeal shock wave therapy, manual therapy, moxibustion, electroacupuncture, cupping, transcutaneous infrared therapy, bee venom therapy and herbal medicine. Most studies were randomized control trials. Although interventions and evaluations were diverse, the reported outcomes were mostly positive. Conclusions The use of TKM for plantar fasciitis is considered effective according to this studies. However, more robust research is required to confirm the effectiveness of TKM treatment for plantar fasciitis. Future studies should prioritize larger sample sizes, randomized controlled trial designs, and standardized outcome measures.
