초록

Objectives This study aimed to analyze domestic research trends on Korean medicine treatments for foot drop patients with lumbar herniated intervertebral disc. Methods We utilized five Korean online databases and identified a total of 57 papers. From these, we excluded studies that were duplicates, did not include full text, and were unrelated to Korean medicine treatments for foot drop patients with lumbar herniated intervertebral disc. Results Twelve case studies were selected. Eight Korean medicine treatments were identified in these studies, including acupuncture, electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine, chuna manual therapy, cupping therapy, moxibustion therapy, and physical therapy. Acupuncture was the most commonly used treatment, followed by herbal medicine and chuna manual therapy. Conclusions Our study showed that Korean medicine treatments for foot drop patients with lumbar herniated intervertebral disc were effective. However, most of the studies had limitations due to the low level of evidence. Further research, such as randomized controlled clinical trials, is required to provide more robust evidence on the effectiveness of Korean medicine treatments.
