초록

This paper presents a Kalman filter-based estimation method of tracking-error of monopulse antenna for satellite communication(SATCOM) on-the-move. Basically, a line-of-sight(LOS) stabilization is important to communication terminals equipped to the moving platforms since those are continuously exposed to unexpected external disturbances. The step-tracking method, which is widely used as LOS stabilization for satellite tracking, has limitations of fast dynamics and precise tracking. The monopulse antenna can overcome the problems by directly computing the tracking-error without any scanning movement. Despite the advantage, the tracking-error signal is severely distorted when the received microwave has low signal to noise ratio such as the SATCOM. This study proposes Kalman filter-based estimation method to improve tracking-error accuracy by using the gyroscope located at the end of load. The additional use of gyroscope measurement can compensate the distorted monopulse signal. This study proves the physical relation between the monopulse tracking-error and the gyroscope angular velocity. Also, the implemented experimental set-up in laboratory verifies the performance of proposed method in practice.
