Development of EMS Mask Prototype for Improving Aging Skin

Abstract

The home beauty device market is experiencing rapid growth, propelled by an aging population and advancements in beauty technology. This study developed a wearable EMS mask prototype using a flexible MWCNT-coating pad with low-frequency currents. To address the inconveniences associated with traditional handheld devices, a flexible EMS mask utilizing MWCNT coating technology was designed. A flexible surface conductive pad coated with MWCNT conductive paste was created and tailored to fit facial contours. The research methodology included the fabrication of the conductive pad using MWCNT paste, evaluation of its conductivity and durability, and design adjustments to match facial muscle shapes. Spandex fabric was selected for optimal wearability and TPU film was determined to be suitable to allow for stable MWCNT printing. The MWCNT-based conductive pad demonstrated superior conductivity compared to existing pads. This research lays the foundation for the development of beauty devices featuring effective muscle stimulation and lifting effects through an EMS mask prototype, highlighting the need for further product development and user evaluation studies in the future.
