Abstract

Purpose: Preceptors and newly graduated nurses (NGNs) form close professional relationships during preceptorship, influencing each other's job satisfaction. This study examines the actor-partner effects of job stress, nursing professionalism, and burnout on job satisfaction among preceptor-NGN pairs using the actor-partner interdependence model analysis. Methods: A total of 108 preceptor-NGN dyads (216 participants) were recruited from hospitals implementing preceptorship programs. Data were collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using the actor-partner interdependence model analysis to explore both actor and partner effects. Results: Job stress and nursing professionalism have shown partner effects. Nursing professionalism played a mediating role on burnout and job satisfaction for both preceptors and NGNs. Conclusion: The findings highlight the mutual influence between preceptors and NGNs, emphasizing the importance of dyadic perspectives in improving job satisfaction. Enhancing nursing professionalism may mitigate burnout and promote job satisfaction among both preceptors and NGN during the preceptorship period.
