Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of the lower-body shape of middle aged adult males. The lower-body data of 752 middle aged adult males age 50 to 69 were obtained from the 8th Human Body Direct Measurement data of Size Korea. Thirty one direct measurements related to the lower body were chosen; four ratio indicies and two basic measurements were used. The analysis of data was done using SPSS 29.0. Factor and cluster analysis were used to classify lower body types. Factor analysis revealed four factors accounting for the middle aged adult male's lower body twenty four measurements. Factor 1 was the shape of obesity abdomen, Factor 2 was the shape of thickness of the leg, Factor 3 was the vertical dimension of the leg, Factor 4 was the hip length. Based on the scores from four factors the lower body shape of middle aged adult male was classified into four types. Type 1 had a thin waist circumstance, short hip length, Type 2 was the biggest abdomen and thin legs, Type 3 had a thick legs, the longest hip length, Type 4 was the longest leg length, a thick leg circumstance. Distribution of body type by age was, 50s were distributed the most type 4 and 60s were distributed the most type 1. Therefore, the lower body aging of middle aged adult male becomes noticeable in the 60s.
