Abstract
This study analyzes the performance of the "Step-by-step Master-key Convergence Education Model," designed to enhance the competitiveness of regional private engineering colleges facing declining school-age populations and basic academic skills. Implemented at D University over two years (2024-2025), the model offers a progressive path: Phase I (Preparatory Foundation), Phase II (Introductory Convergence), Phase III (Nano-degree), and Phase IV (Convergence Major). Empirical analysis confirmed that preparatory engineering education serves as a critical driver for restoring academic confidence and ensuring major stability, particularly for freshmen and returning students. Notably, 68.1% of engineering students opted for non-engineering courses, demonstrating a high demand for multidisciplinary learning. Furthermore, the study verified that a specialized platform, the "College of Creative Convergence," maximized operational efficiency through flexible academic administration. This research suggests that integrating basic capacity building with flexible convergence pathways is a practical strategy to broaden career paths and ensure future success for regional engineering students.
