도서관 역할 변화에 따른 사서역량 인식 연구

A Study on Librarians’ Perceptions of Competencies amid Changing Library Roles

초록

본 연구는 도서관의 역할 변화를 체계적으로 검토하고 현직 사서들의 인식을 실증적으로 분석하여 사서역량 인식에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 도서관의 주요 영역을 장서, 서비스, 공간, 문화프로그램, 사서역량의 다섯 가지 영역으로 범주화하고, 문헌분석, 설문조사, 전문가 인터뷰를 결합한 혼합연구 설계를 적용하였다. 설문 결과, 사서역량 영역에서 가장 높은 공감대가 형성되었으며, 의사소통 능력과 콘텐츠 접근 지식이 최상위 역량으로 나타났다. 위계적 회귀분석 결과, 도서관 역할 변화 인식이 사서역량 인식에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, 문화프로그램과 서비스 영역의 변화 인식이 사서역량 인식과 가장 강하게 연결되는 것으로 나타났다. 전문가 인터뷰 분석에서는 사서역량이 데이터 분석 및 기술 활용 능력과 이용자 중심의 소통․매개 능력이라는 두 방향을 중심으로 논의되었으며, 변화하는 도서관 환경에 대응하기 위해 두 역량이 상호 보완적으로 기능해야 한다는 인식이 공통적으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 도서관 역할 재정립과 사서역량 개발 방향 수립을 위한 실증적 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study aims to systematically examine changes in library roles and empirically analyze librarians' perceptions to identify factors influencing perceptions of librarian competencies. Using a mixed-methods design combining literature review, survey research, and expert interviews, the study examined five domains: collections, services, space, cultural programs, and librarian competencies. Survey results showed that the librarian competency domain received the highest level of consensus, with communication skills and knowledge of content access identified as the most important competencies. Hierarchical regression analysis revealed that perceptions of changes in library roles had a significant positive effect on perceptions of librarian competencies, particularly in the areas of cultural programs and services. Interview findings indicated that librarian competencies were discussed primarily in relation to technology-related competencies and user-centered communication and mediation competencies. Participants emphasized that these competencies should complement one another in responding to changing library environments. The findings provide an empirical foundation for redefining library roles and developing librarian competencies.
