건설구조재료의 70-80% 이상을 차지하고 있는 콘크리트는 지금까지 강재와 더불어 중요한 건설재료의 지위를 점하고 있으며 지구온난화 방지, 자연환경파괴 방지 등의 지구환경문제와 깊은 관련이 있는 재료이기도 하다. 앞으로 21세기에 있어서도 이러한 콘크리트가 많이 사용되기 위해서는 자원의 고갈이나 에너지의 유한성, 지구환경과의 조화나 환경부하의 저감 등을 고려한 설계, 시공 및 제조기술이 더욱 요구되는 실정이다.(중략)

우리나라의 고속도로는 1968년 2월 1일 경부고속도로를 착공한 이래 꾸준히 증가하였으며 2002년 현재 2,637km가 건설되었다. 이는 전체 도로 연장(91,396km)의 약 2.9%에 해당한다(표 1 참조). 고속도로는 그림 1에 나타낸 바와 같이 1990년 이후 급격히 증가하였으며, 앞으로도 계속 증가하여 2004년까지 약 3400km, 2020년까지 남북방향으로 7개축(3,291km), 동서방향으로 9개축(2,869km)의 7
$\times$ 9 간선도로망을 목표로 총 6,000km 이상이 건설될 예정이다.(중략) -
This paper reports the performance results of hydration heat control of mass concrete walls with pipe cooling system. The thickness of walls ranged from 0.9 to 2.2m. In order to investigate the effect of pipe cooling on the thermal and thermal crack characteristics, the pipe cooling was conducted for 42 walls, and the investigation of thermal cracks was conducted for 14 walls. Based on the investigation, the pipe cooling method decreased the peak temperature of about 13-2
$0^{\circ}C$ and the thermal crack width of about 30% for mass concrete walls. -
The heat of hydration of cement causes the internal temperature rise at early age, paticular in massive concrete structures. As the results of the temperature rise and restraint condition, the thermal stress may induce cracks in concrete. The prediction of the thermal stress is important in design and construction stages in order to control the cracks in mass concrete. It is poor economy to analysis for prediction of the thermal stress on each design or construction. In this study, the hydration heat and thermal stress analysis is performed by ABAQUS program, as a results of thermal analysis, the formula of size-placing depth relationship is proposed.

This paper presents a numerical study on the heat of hydration of reinforced concrete with different steel ratio. And this study intends to determine the effect of the steel on the variation of temperatures during hydration. In order to do this, the thermal analyses of the pier-foundation models were carried out using the finite element analysis program, ADINA. As the steel rate increased, the maximum temperature and the internal-external temperature difference decreased.

Recently, the design and construction of massive concrete structures are increased, But, the temperature rise within a large concrete mass makes the construction of massive concrete structures be very difficult. Therefore, various techniques of the thermal stress control of the mass concrete have been widely used. One of them is pipe-cooling which reduces the temperature of concrete with flowing water. It was shown to be possible to construct the massive concrete foundation of urban bridge successfully by application of pipe-cooling system with steel pipe and water circulation. It was also found to expected to make it possible to reduce the probability of thermal crack development in a massive concrete foundation of urban bridge by pipe-cooling system.

Recently, the underground reinforced concrete(RC) box structures have been increasingly built in Korea. In such structures, the heat of hydration may cause serious cracking problems. The RC box structures are classified in this category that needs much attention to control the hydration heat during construction. The purpose of the present study is to analyse the parameters which are related to the thermal crackings of the box structures. In this study, the quantitative studies of thermal stresses according to construction conditions in the RC box structures are thoroughly analysed. Major influencing variables are studied through the finite element analysis which affect the thermal cracking of RC box structures.

The columns and The belt wall of Tower Palace III were desined as 800kg/c
$m^2$ ultra-high strength concrete. The concrete should meet or exceed the requirements of slump of 23cm,$\sigma$ $_{18H}$ of 100kg/c$m^2$ ,$\sigma$ $_{91th}$ of, 800kg/c$m^2$ . The concrete mixings with 4 different domestic Silica fumes were investigated. Laboratory tests, the pilot productions of batcher plant and the full-scale mock up tests were performed. As results of site application, all test results are satisfied with the requirements of columns and belt wall.l. -
The autogenous shrinkage is a important phenomenon of high performance concrete since it may decrease the concrete member's durability by induce crack at early age. So the autogenous shrinkage behavior of high strength concrete was studied according to different replacement ratio of silica fume and fly ash. A linear measurement technique which was introduced by the JCI autogenous commitee was used.

The purpose of this study is to investigate on the measurement of stress due to autogenous shrinkage of high strength concrete according to the W/C ratio at early age. The main parameters are as follows W/C ratio is 25, 30, 40%. The size of specimen is 10
$\times$ 10$\times$ 150cm and the autogenous shrinkage strain is measured by the bonded strain gauge at the inside of the specimens. From the test, it is suggested that the autogenous shrinkage stress increased as W/C ratio decreased. -
This study examines self-compacting of concrete using Ground Calcium Carbonate(GCC) gathering in limestone mine of Banyans district in order to make self-compacting concrete in the range of design strength 300kgf/cm
$^2$ and the optimal mix proportion of self-compacting concrete that can use in field structure. The result shows that the optimal GCC replacement ratio is 45$\pm$ 5% in the normal strength of design strength 300kgf/cm$^2$ and that the volume ratio of the optimal fine aggregate used as the way satisfying both viscosity and compacting ability without separating materials is 46%. The optimal volume ratio of the coarse aggregate considering the economical aspect of concrete is 50%. It is desirable that the optimal mix proportion satisfying self-compacting for replacement of GCC is decided through mix design according to each replacement ratio. -
We carried out the feasibility study of super early self compacting concrete having the characteristics of 1 day demoulding without steam curing, high flowable concrete with self compacting, high strength and high durability etc. Here, We test and selected by several methods using high early cement with and without admixtures for the condition of super early strength self compacting concrete's manufacture (SSCC). we sucessed to meet at the goal of SSCC with 20-35N/mm
$^2$ at 1 day, without steam curing and with slump flow about 60-65cm. We continue to search the effectual conditions of SSCC's manufacture by changing mix designs, several of admixture (superplasticizer, stabilising agent), slag, fly ash, high early cement and apply the products for practical use. -
At present, the polymer-modified mortars are used as high-performance as well as multi-functional materials in the construction industry. The purpose of this study is to synthesize polymer to modify in cement mortars and make test samples to understand pore size distribution. This paper deals with the effect of monomer ratio on the typical properties of polymer-modified mortars using Methylmethacrylate-Butyl Acrylate(MMA/BA) latexes synthesized through emulsion polymerization. From the results, we knew that the pore volume of polymer-modified mortars using Methylmethacrylate-Butyl Acrylate latexes at bound MMA contents of 70 and 60 percent is 7.5-75cm
$^3$ /g and the fine pore volume is increased with an increase in the polymer-cement ratio. The total pore volume of polymer-modified mortars using MMA/BA latexes is linearly reduced with an increase in the bound MMA content and increased in the polymer-cement ratio. -
The effects of polymer-cement ratio, antifoamer content and shrinkage-reducing agent content on the air content, setting time and drying shrinkage of polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder are examined. As a result the air content of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and antifoamer agent content. Regardless of the antifoamer content, the setting time of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to delayed with increasing polymer-cement ratio. Irrespective of the antifoamer content, the drying shrinkage of the polymer-modified mortars using redispersible polymer powder tend to decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content.

In this paper the influence or specimen length on flexural compressive strength and parameter or equivalent rectangular stress block of polymer concrete was evaluated. For this purpose, a series of C-shaped specimens subjected to eccentric compression were tested using four different length-to-depth ratios(from 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0) of specimens with compressive strength of 1,020kgf/cm
$^2$ . Results indicate that for the region of h/c$\leq$ 3.0 the reduction in equivalent rectangular stress block depth and flexural compressive strength with increase of length-to-depth ratios was apparent but for the region of h/c$\geq$ 3.0 they were nearly constant. It means that for the region of h/c$\geq$ 3.0 effect of specimen length on equivalent rectangular stress block depth and flexural compressive strength was negligible. It was also founded that the effect of specimen length on v, a coefficient of strength, that was from 0.84 to 0.86 regardless of h/c was petty. Finally, predictive equation is, suggested by using modified law of effect of specimen length and results. -
In this study, a MMA modified polymer mortal sandwich panels was developed : Core was made with the MMA modified polymer mortar whose compressive strength was about 1020 kgf/cm
$^2$ , and both facings were made with the glass fiber reinforced plastics (GFRP). The results showed that the strain energies increased 20-33 times, respectively, as the thicknesses of facings increased from 1.50 to 2.76 mm with fixing the core thickness to constants (30-50 mm). On the other hand, these values showed a tendency of decrease as the core thickness increased regardless of thickness of facings. A set of basic data for the structural analysis could be provided by investigating the correlations, within the scope of this research, between the resisting moment and the thicknesses of core and facings. -
Permeable polymer concrete has a lot of internal voids, which has more excellent performance in permeability and durability than asphalt and cement concrete. Therefore, in this paper, influences of grading distribution of aggregates on the permeable polymer concrete are presented using polyester resin as binders. According to test results, it shows that compressive strength and unit weight increase with continuous grading distribution and increase of binder content, while void and permeability coefficient shows decline tendency.

Generally, Portland cement concrete(PCC) pavements have the advantage of durability and superior surface friction when compared to most dense-graded asphalt. However, It is known that PCC pavements create more noise than asphaltic surfaces due to the noise from interaction of tire and pavement surface. Recently exposed aggregate concrete(EAC) pavement was sugested to reduce traffic noise. So in this paper, we considered several materials and mixture proportions for proper depth of exposed aggregate which was measured by the sand patching test, and then according to those relationships, we tried to find out dosage of retarding agents and optimum mixture proportions for expecting good effects to noise reduction. It were also evaluated sound level at every conditions of surface texture as like depth of aggregate exposed, profile peak, distance of aggregate and types of aggregate.

The most important material parameters are fracture energy and the stress-crack opening displacement(
$\sigma$ -w) curve to determine the behavior of concrete. Especially, the relationship between the$\sigma$ -w curve is strongly important to determine the load-displacement curve of concrete that has a major influence on the fracture behavior of a concrete. In this paper, notched plain concrete beams with different strength level were tested under three-point bending and fracture energy, the load-deflection curve, and the load-crack mouth opening displacement(CMOD) curve were obtained from the experimental data. Also, the fictitious crack model(FCM) was applied to determine the load-deflection curve of notched plain concrete beams using various types of$\sigma$ -w curve model proposed by Petersson and we compared experimental results with numerical ones carried out by Finite Element Method(FEM). -
In recent year, it has been investigated on the reduction of mass of structures for the purpose of the larger space and the economy with the industry developing very fast and qualitatively. So the purpose of this study is to investigate the manufacture of light weight concrete panel using the artificial light-weight aggregate as a part of the substitution of foamed styrene and polyurethane because of narrow allocable temperature zone in use. The compressive strength, flexural strength, unit weight, absorption test and thermal conductivity were practised at 3, 7 and 28 days after manufacturing the light-weight concrete lot the panel core: the filling ratio of continuous void was defied as 40%, 50%, and 60% and water-cement rate was 35, 40 and 45%. As a result of this, it was revealed that the mixture derived from filling ration of void of 50% and water-cement ratio 40% were developing the best properties of the others.

The purpose of this study is to develop of recycling cement using the waste concrete powder. For presentation possible of practical use as cement powder, we activated waste-powder at temperatures between 600 and 100
$0^{\circ}C$ . And we made recycling cement hardening as being added Ca(OH)$_2$ and the others in recycling cement. The result of this study are as follow; 1)According to compressive strength result, it is found setting and hardened. 2)Active waste powder is positive to the pozzolan reaction and is enable to be used as cement. -
Recently, to consider economical and constructive aspect, Usage of Admixture, like Blast-Furnace Slag and Fly-Ash, are increased. Blast-Furnace Slag, a by-product of steel industry, have many advantage, to reduce the heat of hydration, increase in ultimate strength and etc. But it also reduces early-age strength, it is prevented from using of Blast-Furnace Slag at cold-weather-concrete. In this study, for the purpose of increasing usage of Blast-Furnace Slag at cold-weather-concrete, it is investigated the strength properties of concrete subjected to time and period of frost damage for early age curing. According to this study, if early age curing is carried out before having frost damage, the strength of concrete, subjected to frost damage, is recovered. And that properties is not connected with the frost cause.

Drying shrinkage cracking which may be caused by the relatively large specific surface is a matter of grave concern for latex modified concrete(LMC) overlay and rapid-setting cement latex modified concrete(RSLMC) overlay. LMC and RSLMC were studied for field applications very actively in terms of strength and durability in Korea. However, there were no considerations in drying shrinkage. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the drying shrinkage properties of LMC and RSLMC with the main experimental variables such as cement types(ordinary portland cement, rapid setting cement), latex contents(0, 5, 10, 15, 20%), W-C ratios, and curing days at a controlled environment of 60% of relative humidity and 2
$0^{\circ}C$ of temperature. The drying shrinkage for specimens was measured with a digital dial gauge of Demec. The test results showed that the drying shrinkage of LMC and RSLMC were considerably lower than that of OPC and RSC, respectively. This might be attributed to the interlocking of hydrated cement and aggregates by a film of latex particles, water retention due to hydrophobic, and colloidal properties of the latexes resulting in reduced water evaporation. -
This study is intended to present a reference data for effective quality control of concrete through comparing the rebound value of P type schmidt hammer with the compressive strength with variation of mix proportion and curing condition. According to the results, the air-curing specimen shows the higher rebound value than standard specimen except high strength in the whole. Also the vertical stroke shows higher rebound value than horizontal stroke in standard specimen, however, the rebound value of the two does not show prominent difference in air-curing specimen. The estimation equation of compressive strength derived from this experiment estimates the compressive strength more largely than the estimation equation in P type schmidt hammer manual. Therefore it is thought that the new estimation equation that fits our condition will have to be presented.

Through the developing measuring system of gas diffusivity, the experiments on carbon dioxide diffusivity in concrete carry out. From this, some important results was achieved. First, the times of reaching the steady state condition don't depend on the water/cement ratio with linearity. But, for the 0.42 w/c ratio the duration of the non-steady state condition is long. Second, in constant relative humidity, the diffusion coefficient shows linearity for the w/c ratio. Third, for the same w/c ratio, the influence of relative humidity on the diffusivity is very large. This shows the importance of the environmental condition for the carbonation. This study on
$CO_2$ diffusivity in concrete is the first attempt within a country and will be important data. -
We can consider that the study on early evaluation of compressive strength and durability of concrete is useful to raise safety of quality control of concrete. In this paper, was proposed to method early to predict strength and durability of concrete with parameter, such as Water/cement(W/C) ratio and steam curing conditions. Through analyzing the relationship between the compressive strength and the amount of chloride penetration into concrete specimens, a new formula early estimating durability of the concrete structure was suggested.

Regardless of the carbonation of concrete is one of the importants causes of corrosion of reinforing steel in concrete with the cloride attack and the frost damage, the investigacion about the carbonation of concrete is limited and each investigator experiments under different condition. In this paper, the effect of temperature, relative humidity, concentration of
$CO_2$ , type of specimen, etc., were investigated according to the accelerated carbonation test. The principal conclusions from this research were as follows: 1) The carbonation of concrete is higher in olden of, under environmental condition(temperature-relative humidity, concentration of$CO_2$ , ) of 40-40-10>40-50-10>40-60-5>20-60-5. 2) Under same environmental condition, the carbonation of concrete in$\Phi$ 10$\times$ 20cm cylinder specimen is 2-8% higher then 10$\times$ 10$\times$ 40cm specimen. -
When Concrete work during winter is placed, it has anxiety that concrete freeze at low temperature. As concrete's freezing cause reduction of durability, it is necessary for mixing to pay attention to Air content and W/C ratios. Accordingly, in this study, we set up three series and evaluate a frost-resistance of concrete with admixture, like fly-ash and blast-furnace slag, for early curing method and types of chemical admixture..The study is composed as; I series : Analysis for early curing method and types of chemical admixture in laboratory II series : Analysis for early curing method and types of chemical admixture in batcher plant and measured concrete' temperature. The result of this study, it was more effective the use of super-plasticizers than air entraining agent.

Many researches in the past have shown that a majority initial cracking in concrete are caused during early age period. Therefore, the close examination of early age concrete behavior under various stress conditions is necessary to fully understand the cracking mechanism of concrete. In this study early age cement paste specimen is axially strained up to 20% of its original length by laterally reinforcing it. This type of test is called "Tube Squash Test" and has been previously used to apply up to 50% axial strain on concrete. Microscopic analyses (XRD, FESEM, EDS and DSE/TG) are performed on 20% axially strained early age cement paste specimen. The analysis results show that the microscopic structures and material characteristics of 20% axially strained cement paste remained same as the unstrained cement paste.

In this paper, the effects of type and content of antifreezer on the frost resistance of concrete at early age were investigated. For this purpose, 4 types of antifreezer and 2 types of superplasticizer were selected, and based on the strength recovery ratio, the frost resistance of concrete was estimated. The optimum concrete mixes were also produced when the curing temperatures were -5 and -10
$\{circ}{c}$ . -
The purpose of this study is to improve the anti-corrosive properties of coated reinforcing bar using polymer cement slurry. Poymer cement slurry are prepared with three types of polymer dispersions and corrosion inhibiting admixture. And tested for corrosion accelerating tests such as immersion in NaCl 10% solution NaCl 10% solution spray, high temperature and pressure steam in condition of 8cycles, carbonation before and after, penetration of NaCl solution. From the test results, it is concluded that the anti-corrosive properties are considerably improved by coating using polymer cement slurry at surface of reinforcing bar. And this trend is marked by adding of corrosion inhibiting admixture. The difference of the anti-corrosive properties is hardly recognized according to types of polymer dispersions. The anti-corrosive properties of coated reinforcing bar using polymer foment slurry are improved to a great extent compared to those of plain reinforcing bar accordiy to increasing content of chloride ion in cement concrete.

Reportedly, the use of mineral admixtures make concrete more durable and tighten against water. But, it is needed to study more about the relationship between the admixtures and the chloride ion diffusion. When concrete is mixed with fly-ash, pozzolanic reaction occur to time. So we should consider the factors that can evaluate inner structure of concrete in order to evaluate the chloride diffusion of the concrete more accurately. Therefore, in this study, we analyzed the correlation between chloride ion diffusion and physical properties such as compressive strength, void ratio, air permeability of the concrete, and tried to use them as fundamental data for analyzing chloride ion diffusion mechanism of the concrete mixed with fly-ash.

Epoxy-coated re-bar was partly used to the structures and put to practical use, but were not economical and appeared to have defects such as the diminishing of long term bond strength between concrete. The study of polymer cement slurry coated re-bar was started in order to complement the defect of epoxy coated re-bar, and ever since the basic properties appeared to be excellent. But, study of bond properties embedded in concrete specimens was insufficient until now. This study attempts to examine the possibility of improving the bond strength of polymer cement slurry coated re-bar between concrete specimens in accordance with ACI Code and KS Code through pull-out test of 150mm
$\times$ 150mm$\times$ 150mm substrates with polymer cement slurry coated re-bar having polymer cement ratios of 50%, 75% and 100%, coating thickness 250${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ , 450${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and with curing ages of 3, 7 and 28 days. High strength concrete was designed having a compressive strength of 500kgf/cm2 as specified. Practical bond length ranges of 55 and 85mm were applied to each of specimen. The bond strength of polymer cement slurry coated re-bar using St/BA-1 and St/BA-2 was compared to that of plain re-bar. The results of this study showed that the bond strength of 55mm bond length was much higher than that of 85mm bond length. -
This paper deals with the estimation of the bond stress based on experimental data that were tensed by axial force on both sides. It is certificated that the concrete stress condition clearly affects the bond-slip relationship. The proposed method utilizes the conventional bond-slip theories as well as the characteristics of deformed reinforcement and concrete cross-sectional area. An analytical equation for the estimation of the bond stress is formulated as the function of non-dimensional factors (e.g. bond stress, relative slip, etc.). The validity, accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are established by comparing the analytical results with the experimental data of Ikki (1996, 1999) and the representative bond stress equations of Shima (1987). The analytical results presented in this paper indicate that the proposed method can be effectively estimated the bond stress-relative slip relationship.

This paper describes a calculation of an average crack spacing and the maximum crack width for the high-strength concrete tensile and flexural members. Based on the uniform bond stress distribution of the average steel and concrete strains over the transfer length, the crack spacing and the crack width are proposed to utilize influence of the concrete strength and the cover thickness. This analytical results presented in this paper indicate that the proposed equations can be more effectively estimated the maximum crack width and the average crack spacing of the reinforced concrete flexural and tensile members.

This study presents failure mechanisms for the pull-out strength of headed reinforcement for upper bound solution based on the limit theorem. The failure mechanisms to be presented follow the failure surface pattern of punching shear failure found in the joints of slab with a column. Several failure surfaces of the mechanisms have different characteristics for dissipation works and these mechanisms are able to interpret the role of bar details surrounding headed reinforcement.

The reinforcing bar computation have to be reflected stress distribution and geometrical condition of a comer joint when the closing moment acted at comer joint. This study analyzes stress distribution of a corner joint with statically determinate truss model. Compared with FEM analysis and result of truss model suggested design method consider strengthening efficiency of main reinforcement.

The evaluation equation of torsional moment for reinforced concrete members in ACI 318-99 ignores the contribution of concrete, T
$_{c}$ . Several research indicates that the torsional moment of concrete is in effect, specially for the members in which the longitudinal and transverse reinforcement content is small. This paper proposes an evaluation equation of torsional moment taking into account the contribution of concrete. According to the comparison with the 66 test results, the torsion equation in ACI code underestimated or overestimated the real torsional moment of reinforced concrete beams. On the other hand, the proposed torsional equation is shown to be in a good agreement with experimental results.s. -
An evaluation equation of the minimum shear reinforcement content for reinforced concrete beams was theoretically proposed. The proposed equation takes into account the effects of compressive strength of concrete, longitudinal reinforcement content and shear span ratio. The proposed equation was compared with the current ACI 318-99 and CSA A23.3-94 codes.

This paper describes an attempt to develop a unified design approach for reinforced concrete short beam failing in shear based on a Arch Factor. Designing for short beam in shear is not as straightforward as designing for flexure due to the complicated interdependency of the variables involved and to the nonexistence of a rational theory tn current design code. Shear failure of reinforced concrete beams with stirrups is influenced greatly because of the actual geometrical shape(a/d) of the concrete and flexural reinforcement steel ratio, stirrup reinforcement ratio and concrete compression strength, size effect etc. The objective of this paper is to present a pilot study to develop a simplified physical model for estimating shear behavior of reinforced concrete short beams. The Key idea incorporated with this model is the Arch factor, introduced by Kim and White.

In this paper, structural behaviors of anchor systems subjected to shear loads are analyzed by using fracture analysis and experiments. Two dimensional finite element analyses of concrete anchor systems to predict breakout failure of concrete through progressive fracture are carried out by utilizing the so-called embedded crack model. Three dimensional finite element analyses are also carried out to investigate the fracture behavior of anchor systems having different effective lengths, edge distances, spacings between anchors, and direction of loads. Results of analyses are compared with both experimental results and design values of ACI code on anchor, and then applicability of finite element method for predicting fracture behavior of concrete anchor systems is verified.

Existing design equations generally overestimate the shear strength of the circular transverse reinforcement. This is due to the simplification of the discrete distribution of the reinforcement to the continuous one and the inappropriate application of the classical truss model to the circular section, which is different in shear-resisting component from the rectangular section. The present study introduces a new model considering the starting point of the diagonal crack, the number of transverse reinforcing bars crossing the crack and the effective strength component of the transverse resistance. This model leads to a simple design equation which is derived using the linear regression method and is in agreement with the lower bound of exact strength curve.

Prestressed concrete(PSC) bridge structures with a number of continuous spans has been segmentally built in many countries. These methods include incremental launching method, movable scaffolding method, full staging method and balanced cantilever method. In these segmentally constructed prestressed concrete bridges, many construction joints exist and these construction joints are weak points in PSC bridges. The prestress force can be introduced prestress force continuously through the construction joints of PSC bridge superstructure using tendon couplers. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the structural behavior and ultimate flexural strength of construction joints in PSC girder bridge members. To this end, a comprehensive experimental program has been set up and a series of full-scale tests have been performed. Ultimate flexural strength of construction joint in PSC members with tendon couplers is decreased by approximately 10% for non-coupled members.

The double composite box girder is a structural system filled with concrete at the bottom of the steel box in the negative moment region increasing the flexural strengths. Flexural strengths of the double composite steel box girders are investigated through a series of the experimental tests and the numerical analysis. The experimental tests are performed on the three kinds of steel box girders with the different concrete depths including loom, 15cm, and 20cm. Moment-curvature relations are calculated based on the sectional analysis method describing the nonlinear natures of concrete and steel. In the finite element analysis the nonlinear nature of concrete is described based on the three dimensional four-parameter constitutive model recently developed and that of steel is described based on von Mises failure criterion. The ultimate flexural capacities of the box girders predicted using sectional analysis and finite element analysis show good agreement with those of the experiments.

In order to apply precast decks to the continuous composite bridges, several experiments and analytical studies were performed. For the continuous composite bridges, special attention should be paid to the transverse joints in negative moment region. Judging from the results, combination of longitudinal internal prestressing tendon and the external tendon can be effectively used for the prevention of cracking in the negative moment region of precast decks.

This paper investigated the properties of flexural behavior of composite beams (end-Reinforced concrete, center-Steel concrete) according to attaching length of main bars to flange, shear reinforcing length for different types of structure. In the preceding study, structural properties of composite beams were investigated according to shear span to depth ratio, attaching method of main bars and shear reinforcing method. Based on these results, a series of experiments was carried out according to attaching length of main bar & reinforcing length for different types of structure. Consequently, as attaching length of main bar and shear reinforcing length increased, composite beams represented higher strength, ductility index and stress mechanism distributed in connection zone of different types of structure.

A governing differential equation (GDE) of PSC flexural member with constant eccentricity considering the long-term losses including concrete creep, shrinkage, and PS steel relaxation is derived based on the two approaches. The first approach utilizes the force and moment equilibrium equations derived based on the geometry of strains of the uniform and curvature strains while the second one utilizes the principle of minimum total potential energy formulation. The identity of the two GDE's is verified by comparing the coefficients consisting of the GDE's. The boundary conditions resulting from the functional analysis of the variational calculus are investigated. Rayleigh-Ritz method provides a way to get the explicit form of the continuous deflection function in which the total potential energy is minimized with respect to the unknown coefficients consisting of the trial functions. As a closure, the analytically calculated results are compared with the experiments and show good agreements.

The following results are achieved from a mortar flow test depending on stainless steel slag fineness, rate of replacement, and a research on material age compressive strength, strength activity index. 1. Flow is proportional to the stainless steel slag fineness. 2. Mixing stainless steel slag decreases compressive strength 3. Material age compressive strength has the maximum value when stainless steel slag fineness is 6000
$cm^2$ /g. 4. Material age 7day strength activity index satisfies KSCE 95-01 at all conditions except the case of fineness 8000$cm^2$ /gㆍstainless steel slag rate of replacement 30%. 5. Material age 28day strength activity index satisfies KSCE 95-01 in case of stainless steel slag fineness 4000$cm^2$ /gㆍrate of replacement 10%, fineness 6000$cm^2$ /gㆍ10%, or 20%. -
In modern times, the environment preservation is global tendency and self social awareness is arise. Measures to the environment preservation and pollution is going on study. One measure is recycling and reuse of by product and it is already developed in some advanced country. There is 7 hundred thousand tons of copper slag production from copper refining process in domestic. The purpose of this study is reusing copper slag -by product which produced L cooperation in domestic-as fine aggregate for producing high strength concrete and investigating the fundamental characteristics.

Rapid set accelerators are widely used in tunnel construction, however quality criteria of and dosage are not well established. The density and solid content of admixtures, setting time and compressive strength of paste and mortar with admixtures were investigated to establish the quality criteria. While the early strength of mortar with sodium-silicate, sodium-aluminate and calcium aluminate type admixtures that have high alkali content are very high, but long-term strength are low. Aggregates of shotcrete has to be carefully selected. Sodium-silicate type admixture need longer setting time than the others.

The present age, it has been often reported that recycling of wasted glasses should he a great topic in related business circles. For the enviromental reasons, a public institution are looking for the ways of recycling these waste glasses. First of all, the purpose of this research is to recycle crushed and powdered waste glasses by substituting for the cement in mortar and concrete. the optimum replacement ratio of Powdered Waste Glasses(PWG) can be obtained from the pilot test results. Secondary, we made advances in recycling of waste glasses as recycled to make secondary concrete products. so, we manufactured concrete brick, block and interlocking block for side walk contained powdered waste glasses. finally, we compare properties among of concrete products to slove the economical and environmental problems.

By the recently, Environmental pollution is serious by the highly economic growth and expansion of lively country basic industry. Especially, in case of industrial waste and life waste leaped into a pollution source. Also, research for processing of waste and recycling countermeasure is a pressing question on national dimension because it is prohibited an ocean disposal and reclamation. In this study, it looked for fracture characteristic value of recycling a coal ash to decrease environmental pollution by picky and exhaustion of natural resources and to reduce self-weight to prepare for a tall building and earthquake. So a coal ash examined to be possible to do as construction material. It achieved compressive strength test and three points bending test with initial notch depth rate and age for variables to show a basic research data. From the basis of the three points bending test, the fracture parameters - notch sensitivity, fracture energy, initial compliance were experimentally proposed. From the results of the compressive strength test, the elastic modulus was experimentally proposed. Also on the basis of the three points bending test, the fracture parameters - notch sensitivity, fracture energy, initial compliance were experimentally proposed. The results that the strength and fracture energy value are lower than concrete or mortar is described in this paper. Also, it shows that the deflection at fracture decreases as the age increases and the notch sensitivity decrease. However, it is judged to be available to construction material if research is continuously gone forward.

This study is intended to check the possibility to estimate water content by heat-drying method with variation of W/C and slump. According to the results, in case of electric range method, when water content is less than 165kg/m
$^3$ in mixture, it is estimated more and in more than 165kg/m$^3$ , it is estimated less. It shows that water content in gas burner method is estimated less by about 2kg/m$^3$ . Also, estimated water content shows difference by less than 12kg/m$^3$ in electric range method and by less than 12kg/m$^3$ in gas burner method. Therefore, it is thinked that if tested without error from preparing a sample to calculating amount of water, water content will be estimated exactly in the construction field. -
Significant improvements in bond strength between new and existing concrete can be achieved through the modification of the new concrete by latex modification. But, no test method has been adopted as a standard to measure the bond strength between the concrete used to repair and the substrate being repaired. The performance of old and the new concrete construction depends upon bond strength between old and the new concrete. Current adhesion strength measurement method ignores the effect of stress concentration by shape of specimens. Therefore, this research calculates stress concentration coefficient using finite element analysis and direction tensile strength test (pull-off test). The result shows that the required core depth is 2.5cm. Elastic modulus and overlay thickness do not influence in stress concentration.

The purpose of this study was to remove the excessive air foaming which was produced in mixing the RSLMC(latex-modified concrete with rapid- setting cement) by choosing the best antifoam agent type and the optimized quantity for performance improved RSLMC. A series of RSLMM(latex-modified mortar with rapid-setting cement) experiments were carried out as the basic for RSLMC with the main experimental variables such as antifiamer types(A, B, C, D), antifoamer contents(0, 1, 2, 3%). Air content test and compressive, flexural tests were carried out to measure the improved properties of RSLMM and RSLMC. Chloride ion permeability test was carried out to estimate water permeability resistance. The results of RSLMM showed that the decrease of 50% air content was obtained by admixturing a antifoam agent by 1%. The compressive strength and flexural strength at 3 hours after RSLMC placement were 235kgf/cm
$^2$ and 49kgf/cm$^2$ , respectively, which exceeded the flexural strength criterion of 45kgf/cm$^2$ in order to open the RSLMC placed to traffic. The chloride permeability using A and C antifoamer at 28 days were below 100 coulombs, which was the permeability rating of negligible according to ASTM. -
The deterioration of concrete structure due to corrosion of the reinforcement has created big financial losses on the overall industries. The volume expansion of the corrosion products causes internal pressure to concrete wall around reinforcing bar. If the maximum principal stress induced by internal pressure exceeds the tensile strength of the concrete at any point of time, a crack forms at any point of material. Therefore, in terms of life assessment of concrete structure, it is very important to predict the amount of corrosion products which induces initial concrete cracking. With this objective, this paper proposes the critical amount of corrosion products at interface between reinforcement and concrete using finite element analysis. If an actual survey of corrosion rates could be made, the model might supply information for condition assessment of existing concrete structure. As the mechanical properties of corrosion product and instantaneous geometry of corroded steel are considered in the analysis, the value obtained will be more realistic.

The waterproofing systems of concrete bridge deck are installed under the complex circumstances, such as traffic loading, weather, and the condition of the deck concrete. For assuring the effectiveness of waterproofing system, the materials and the construction method and timing ought to be suitably selected with the procedures of waterproofing and the system has to ensure the economical performances. First of all, we discussed whether the quality and performance criteria for highway bridge deck are resonable or not through the investigation of domestic and foreign criteria. The basic properties of waterproofing membranes on market and the performance of waterproofing systems of concrete bridge deck have also been investigated in the view of the damages frequently reported from job site. In this way, the causes and measures of damages, the guidelines of design, construction, quality control, and maintenance, the test methods and criteria of membranes and waterproofing system, are proposed.

The waterproofing system's performance is known to show a determining by complex interaction of material factors, design details, and the qualify of construction, and the waterproofing integrity of waterproofing membranes is determined by the bond to the deck and the amount of damage to the waterproofing membrane. In this research, the basic properties of waterproofing membranes on market and the tensile adhesive characteristics of waterproofing systems of concrete bridge deck have also been investigated in the view of the damages frequently reported from job site. As a results of tensile adhesive strength of waterproofing system, tensile strength is decrease with surface moisture contents except for inorganic-elastomeric liquid waterproofing membrane, and increase with strength of deck slab. Also tensile adhesive strength is generally increase in case of moisture curing of specimen because of pore structure and surface leveling. The after asphalt concrete paving tends to increase more than before those. The results of the liquid waterproofing membranes are upside-down, and the more concrete has strength, the more strength of tensile adhesive increase. The ambient temperature and the rolling temperature of asphalt concrete when application of the waterproofing membrane has considerable influence on the performance of waterproofing system.

The deterioration of concrete due to sulfate ions in various sulfate environments such as groundwater, soil and seawater is one of important factors degrading the durability of concrete structure. The aim of this paper is to evaluate on the magnesium sulfate alttack resistance of mortars with silica fume. In this study, compressive strength loss and length change of prismatic mortars, containing silica fume, immersed in 5% magnesium sulfate solution for 270 days were investigated. Additionally, paste powders with same binder were used to observe reactants of cement matrices through the instrumental analysis such as XRD, SEM and MIP. Results obtained from this study indicate that the greater damaging effects of the magnesium soulution are due to the decomposition of the C-S-H gel to M-C-S-H.

In many years, post-tensioning method has been used for structural reinforcement of RC structures due to easy installation and good quality control. This study presents practical application results for the effectiveness of structural post-tensioning reinforcement of the FCM bridge girders, cement silos and building girders. For the FCM bridges deflected excessively at the end of girders, for cement silos cracked vertically at silo surface and for building girders deflected due to heavy load from roof, the external post-tensioning method was used for uplifting deflected girders and closing cracks with increasing resisting capacity of the structures. It was demonstrated that all the items were rehabilitated nearly to the initial construction status according to the field test results.

This study shows the fatigue test results of experiment on the strengthened slabs, the probability analysis of the fatigue behavior is also presented. Static und fatigue tests were performed on bridge decks strengthened with fiber plastics(Carbon Fiber Sheet, Glass Fiber Sheet, Grid Type Carbon Fiber). In this study, to analyze the probabilistic distribution of the fatigue life, the Weibull distribution was adopted. The Weibull distribution coefficient is inferred from the S-N diagram and the number of repeated load. As the result analysis, as the stress level is higher, the fatigue limit of the strengthened bridge deck are similarly discovered but in the range of the fatigue limit, CG specimen that was strengthened with Grid Type Carbon was proved most effective of reinforcement.

This paper presents the results cf research on improved flexural performance cf reinforced concrete beams strengthened with bonded carbon fiber reinforced polymer plate. Recently, strengthening technique with CFRP plate were almost carried out by external bonding. But current external bonding technique cf CFRP plates may result in debonding CFRP plate. Therefore, this study proposes a strengthening method that prevents or delays debonding between CFRP plates and concrete and at the same time improves the strength. For this test, there were only 14 test beams manufactured and failure load, deflection, strains and modes cf failure have been examined Test variables included the type cf strengthening, steel ratio and strengthening length, and the effects according to each test variables were analyzed. The experimental results show that the strength and stiffness cf the beam significantly increased between 34.55 and 116.51% and the increase cf the more lead-carrying capacity than the control beams.

This paper deals with the flexural behavior of RC hems strengthened with CFRP plate and the estimation on anchorage length of CFRP Plate. Experimental variables included concrete strength, reinforcement ratio, cover thickness of concrete and length ratio of CFRP plate for a pure span. A failure load, failure mode, deflection and strain response at different distances from a cut-off point of CFRP plate were observed and anchorage length was determined through strain distribution of CFRP plate. Herein, anchorage length is defined the length between CFRP plate end and the beginning point of full composite behavior. Also, the anchorage length observed from the experiment was compared with Nguyen's equation and BS specification.

With a rapid industrialization, repair and strengthening methods for a damaged bridges are raised a head in face of safety and reduction of physical distribution costs of bridges. Above all, external prestressing method has the high adaptability for concrete structures and the reliable effect of strengthening. Innovative ideas for bridges strengthening were considered along with established methods. That methods are identified, described. However there is not a systematic and categorized manual for external prestressing method. This study will provide a systematic and reliable manual with investigating the arrangement shape of cable and characteristics of brackets. And the key result of this study is an extensive compilation, which can be used by practicing engineers, of the most effective techniques for strengthening existing bridges.

Strength and Durability of reinforced concrete exposed at deteriorated environment are decreased by cover spatting and corrosion of reinforcement. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate capacity of strengthening axial member using admixture-modified mortar. To investigate the capacity of strengthened axial member, behavior and strength of strengthening specimens were compared with a monolithic basic specimen. Admixture-modified mortar was prepared with silica fume, zeolite, polymer as cement modifier. From the result of this experiment, strengthening specimens using polymer-modified mortar have apparrent strengthening capacity because of good flexural strength and tensile strength.

This thesis is a study on behavior for anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam using strut-tie model. Stress conditions of Anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam are very disturbed because large concentrated forces act on relatively small areas. Hence, anchorage zone must be considered in Design of prestressed double T beam. If irrational design or irrational construction be conducted, that may lose stability in capacity as structure. In current design practice, certain parts of structure are designed with extreme accuracy, while anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam is designed using common sense, and experience. Therefore, it is generally very conservative. For that reason, logical, reasonable concept and accuracies are desired at design of anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam. Strut-tie method satisfies those desires. In this thesis, anchorage zone in prestressed double T beam is analyzed by considering prestressing forces. Strut-tie model is constructed based on principle stress trajectory obtained from 3D-finite element analysis in anchorage zone, and amounts of reinforcement be obtained. Results of analysis are compared with the way used in current design practice, and this thesis presents that strut-tie model can be an economical design than current design methods without losing the degree of safety.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate resistance capacity of the damaged wall structural system against earthquake ground accelerations. Two lumped damage models(5 story, 12 story) are investigated by nonlinear time history analysis. As a result of analyses, the effect of stiffness degradation due to structural damages might change the interstorydrift of the structure. Therefore the increasing interstorydrift of damaged structures might be applied to evaluate the seismic performance of damaged structures.

The purpose of this study is to investigate nonlinear behavior and estimate ultimate resistance of the wall structure against seismic loading. Experimental data for RC coupling elements are used for specifying the strength deterioration and stiffness degradation factor of hysteretic model. Modified coupling element models are used in the push over analysis and time history analysis. In the time history analysis, three earthquake waves are used in the analysis and their peak ground accelerations are changed to be 0.2g. The conclusions of this study are as follows : (1) In the push over analysis, yielding of coupling elements occurred at lower story with small story drift ratio as 0.3%. (2) In the time history analysis, the story drift ratio is sufficient for the requirement of Korean Code, But coupling elements at most stories of the buildings occurred yielding. i. e. the earthquake resistant capacity of shear wall structures is not sufficient at 0.2g.

The cross sections of structural walls have various shapes such as T, L, and H-shaped. The L-shaped walls frequently appear in the comer of the structural plans. There are a little researches on the structural performance of L-shaped walls subjected to hi-directional loads. L-shaped wall subjected to hi-directional loads might be failed due to high compressive stress in the corner of the wall. L-shaped wall subjected to bi-directional(45
$^{\circ}$ direction) loads was failed by the compressive failure more possible than that of one-directional(0$^{\circ}$ direction) loads. Therefore, in this paper, Two L-shaped wall specimens are chosen and presented. One is LCU specimen subjected to the bi-directional loads, the other is LCX specimen subjected to the one-directional loads. Also, the experimental results compared with the analytical results from nonlinear FEM analysis. -
For finite analysis of concrete columns strengthened with glass fiber sheets, an effective concrete model which considers the confining effects by lateral reinforcement and glass fiber sheets is necessary. In this paper, the so-called elasto-plasticity and continuum fracture model (EPF model) is modified to consider high confining effects of strengthened reinforced concrete columns by introducing a simple correction factor (
$\alpha$ ) which relates maximum lateral confining stress of the column to the evolution of deviatoric plasticity. Then, a finite element analysis is carried out for the strengthened reinforced concrete columns using the modified EPF model and equally spaced truss elements. It is shown that the, analysis predicts well the failure behavior of reinforced concrete columns strengthened with glass fiber sheets. -
In this study, a numerical analysis that can effectively predict the effect of strengthening of cracked flexural members is developed using axial deformation link elements. Concrete and interface between concrete and repair material are considered as quasi-brittle material. Reinforcing bars and reinforcing steel plates are assumed to perform as elasto-plastic materials. Unloading behavior of axial deformation link element is implemented. In the developed numerical model, a flexural member is intentionally cracked by pre-loading, then, the cracked member is repaired using extra elements, and reloaded. The results from analysis of repaired flexural members agrees well with available experiment results. Also, it was shown that the effect of strengthening and the change of failure mode with respect to the time for strengthening and thickness of repair materials. Based on the results, it was determined that the developed numerical model has a good agreement for determining failure modes and effect of strengthening in cracked flexural members. By utilizing the developed numerical analysis, the time and dimension of external strengthening in an existing cracked flexural member with predition of failure mechanism can be determined.

Transverse prestressing of bridge decks is an attractive concept with substantial benefits in both economy and crack control in slabs. To evaluate the necessary information for the prestressed long span bridge slab design, a series of static and fatigue tests were peformed. It is shown that the minimum thickness recommendation in Korean Highway Bridge Design Code is too conservative.

This study was to define the strengthening effect of steel fibers in high strength RC columns. For this, ten specimens of columns were tested under cyclic lateral load and constant axial load. The testing parameters are steel fiber volume fraction of concrete and shear reinforcement ratio of hoop bars. Finally, the optimal content of steel fibers was evaluated as 1.0 - 1.5 % volume fraction of concrete.

Tension tests of six half-thickness concrete containment wall elements were conducted as part of a Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KARRI) program. The aim of the KAERI test program is providing a test-verified analytical method for estimating capacities of concrete reactor containment buildings under internal overpressurization from postulated degraded core accidents. The data from the tests reported herein should be useful for benchmarking method that requires modeling of material behavior including concrete cracking and reinforcement/concrete interaction exhibited by the test. Major test variable is the compressive strength of concrete and its effect on the behavior of prestressed concrete panel subjected to biaxial tension.

A precast concrete beam which is larger than the limits of domestic transportation regulation in weight, length, and volume is divided into three parts, transported separately, and erected with a composite beam by post-tensioning in site. Shear tests are performed on the post-tensioned composite segmental beam models with 1/2 scale. The jacking force and the ratio of area of shear key to beam section are major experimental variables. Nine shear strength are resulted from the tests with two variables. Rational equation for estimation of shear strength are obtained from the regression analysis on test results.

The interior portion of Gerber's beam are constructed with post-tensioned segmental composite beams in this study. A precast concrete member which is larger than the limits of domestic transportation regulation in weight, length, and volume is divided into three parts, transported separately, and erected with a composite member by post-tensioning in site. Static flexural loading tests are performed on Gerber's type frames which are consisted with 2.5m overhangs and 5m interior beams composited from three pieces. The connection of overhang to interior composite beam and beam to beam, and flexural performance of interior portion of Gerber's beam are examined thoroughly. All of the tests are ended with a compression failure of the interior composite beams over the design strength of homogeneous beams. The brittle connection failures or tensile failures with the failure of lower strand was not observed in any test frames.

An experimental investigation was conducted to study the behavior of high-strength RC wide beam-column joints with slab subjected to reversed cyclic loads under constant axial load. Six half scale interior wide beam-column assemblies representing a portion of a frame subjected to simulated seismic loading were tested, including three specimens without slab and three specimens with slab. The primary variables were compressive strength of concrete(
$f_{ck}$ =240, 500kgf/c$m^2$ ), the ratio of the column-to-beam flexural capacity($M_{r}$ =2$\Sigma$ $M_{c}$ $\Sigma$ $M_{b}$ ; 0.77-2.26), extended length of the column concrete($\ell$ $_{d}$ ; 0, 9.6, 30cm), ratio of the column-to-beam width(b/H ; 1.54, 1.67). Test results are shown that (1) the behavior of specimen using high-strength concrete satisfied the required minimum ductile capacity according to increase the compressive strength, (2). In the design of the wide beam-column joints, one should be consider the effects of slab stiffness which is ignored in the current design code and practice.ice.e.e. -
The unbonded prestressed concrete(PSC) members exhibit very different structural behavior from that of bonded PSC members because of having different tendon stress increment. Recently, AASHTO changed the provision of ultimate tendon stress with unbonded tendons, because some researches tried to improve the provision of ultimate tendon stress with unbonded tendons. The purpose of the present study is to compare various Codes with the ultimate failure stresses of prestressing(PS) steels for the unbonded PSC members. To this end, Some national Codes have been collected and analyzed. A series of major influencing variables have been included in the analysis. It was found that the span-depth ratio, neutral axis depth-effective depth ratio, concrete compressive strength, effective prestress, and prestressing steel ratio have great influence on the ultimate failure stress of PS steel in unbonded PSC members. The Comparison indicates that existing formulas including ACI and domestic Code's equations shows some unwarranties. The present study allows more realistic analysis and design of prestressed concrete structures with internal unbonded tendons.

Prestressed concrete I-girders were used in the bridge applications in the early 1950s. During the last four decades, the most widely used girder length of bridges have been below 30 meters. The main objective of this study is to develope the alternative section for widely spaced girder of 30 meters span bridge. Girder spacing, the number of strands and compressive strength of concrete are major parameters for widely spaced girders. The optimal girder spacing is determined through the parameter studies of design using widely spaced girders. 30m span bridges of widely girder spacing must use high-strength concrete. Although the basic unit cost of concrete is higher for high-strength concrete, it may be partially or even fully offset by reduced quantities of concrete as result of the smaller number of girders used. High-strength concrete girders have more prestressing strands per girder, but the total number of strands for all of the girders is less than that required for the larger number of normal-strength concrete girders. It could design PSC-I Birdge with widely spaced girder owing to high-strength concrete.

Prestressing tendons in the wall of circular storage tank were investigated from the viewpoint of equivalent load method. Special attention was paid to the effectiveness of eccentricities of the circumferential and vertical tendons. Some aspects which are frequently overlooked or misinterpreted in the analysis of vertical tendons are discussed. It is expected that the equivalent load method can be effectively used to simplify the analysis of tendons in the circular wall thus to minimize the errors.

The long span PSC deck of composite girder bridge should be needed in order to improve the endurance and to simplify the structure of the steel bridge. However, there have been few domestic research activities about long-span PSC decks for the steel bridges with a small number of girders. In this study, a literature survey is performed to develop a new deck system for the steel bridge with a small number of girders. By considering the characteristics of a small number of girders bridge system, a cast-in-place long span PSC deck is proposed for a small number of girders bridges. To examine structural behavior and safety of the proposed PSC deck, the real scale partial models of the deck(12m

This study is peformed to propose the slab deck for the composite bridge with two girders. Considering the characteristics of the long span and the construction conditions in korea, a cast-in-place PSC deck was proposed for that bridge. Generally, the failure of concrete bridge deck is caused by the local punching shear stress resulting from the moving wheel load. Even though its ultimate flexural capacity is sufficiently larger than the demand, it could be failed by the punching shear fatigue. Therefore, the fatigue safety of the proposed PSC deck should be checked. -
The design of anchorage zone in prestressed concrete cable stayed bridges is very important area due to the more accurate analysis is needed to estimate the behavior. In the study, since the cable anchorage zone in the prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge is subject to a large amount of concentrated tendon forces, it shows very complicated stress distributions and causes a serious local cracks. Accordingly, It is necessary to investigate the parameters of affecting the stress distribution, such as the cable inclination, the position of anchor plate, the modeling method and the three dimensional effect. The tensile stress distribution of anchorage zone is compared to the actual design condition by varing the stiffness of spring element in the local modeling and an appropriate position of anchor plate is determined. These results would be elementary data to the stress state of anchorage zone and more efficient design.

The properties of mortar and concrete including metakaolin as a partial cement replacement were investigated in terms of fluidity and compressive strength. The results show that mortar and concrete in which 10 % of cement is replaced with metakaolin exhibit much higher compressive strength after 3 days of hydration than ordinary Portland cement, indicating that metakaolin can be used in the production of high strength concrete replacing silica fume. The type of superplasticizer largely affected on the fluidity and compressive strength of mortar and concrete including metakaolin. It was concluded that when metakaolin is used for the purpose of manufacturing high strength concrete, it is desirable to use PNS based blends rather than PNS, PMS and polycarboxylate based superplasticizer.

Concrete is one of the essential structural materials in the construction. But, concrete consists of many materials and is affected by many factors such as properties of materials, site environmental situations, and skill of constructor. Therefore, concrete mixes depend on experiences of experts. However, it is more and more difficult to determine concrete mixes design by empirical means because more ingredients like mineral and chemical admixtures are included. Artificial Neural Networks(ANN) are a mimic models of human brain to solve a complex nonlinear problem. They are powerful pattern recognizers and classifiers, also their computing abilities have been proven in the fields of prediction, estimation and pattern recognition. Here, among them, the back propagation network and radial basis function network are used. Compositions of high-performance concrete mixes are eight components(water, cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, fly ash, silica fume, superplasticizer and air-entrainer). Compressive strength and slump are measured. The results show that neural networks are proper tools to minimize the uncertainties of the design of concrete mixtures.

High-performance concrete is defined as concrete that meets special combinations of performance and uniformity requirements that cannot always be achieved routinely using conventional constituents and normal mixing, placing, and curing practices. Ever since the term high-performance concrete was introduced into the industry, it had widely used in large-scale concrete construction that demands high-strength, high-flowability, and high-durability. To obtain such performances that cannot be obtained from conventional concrete and by the current method, a large number of trial mixes are required to select the desired combination of materials that meets special performance. In this paper, therefore, using genetic algorithm which is a global optimization technique modeled on biological evolutionary process-natural selection and natural genetics-and can be used to find a near optimal solution to a problem that may have many solutions, the new design method for high-performance concrete mixtures is suggested to reduce the number of trial mixtures with desired properties in the field test. Experimental and analytic investigations were carried out to develop the design method for high-performance concrete mixtures and to verify the proposed mix design.

This paper describes the results of spalling by fire prevention of high performance concrete confining with metal-lath and containing PP fiber. According to test results, all the specimens without PP fiber shows entire failure after exposed to fire, while the other specimens confined with metal-lath has somewhat better spatting prevention performance than plain concrete specimens, which only show surface scale spatting combination of PP fiber with confinement of metal-lath leads to favorable spatting resistance. As PP fiber contents and thickness of metal-lath which is confined at concrete specimens increase, residual strength after exposed to fire shows to be increased.

This paper is a fundamental study on the mechanical properties of the high performance concrete confined with metal lath, glass and carbon fiber laterally. According to the results, it shows that the compressive strength increases by 9%, 8% and 6% in metal lath carbon fiber and glass fiber in case of W/B 30% respectively. In case of W/B 30% and 40%, flecxural strength shows largely in order of carbon fiber, metal lath, glass fiber. In strain-stress curve with the kinds of material for lateral confinement, while brittleness failure occurs in plain concrete just after maximum load, it is improved in some degree in confined concrete due to increase of the strain by increase of toughness. But, elastic modulus shows the similar tendency between confined concrete and plain concrete. Length change ratio by drying shrinkage shows little a bit in order of carbon fiber, glass fiber and metal lath due to confinement.

Generally, the limestone powder is known to have some advantages in rheology of fresh concrete, resistance of material separation, and enhancement of strength at early ages. Recently, great attention is being paid to limestone blended cements in the manufacture of concrete, especially in the countries of Europe. The purpose of the present study is to establish the mechanical and durable properties of concrete containing slag and limestone powder. In this paper, the chloride ion penetration test, rapid carbonation test and rapid freezing-thawing test is carried out to study durability of concrete with various content of limestone powder. Futhermore, the strength of concrete is evaluated with various ages.

The most recent, like any other field we have requested that the concrete would increase more a performance. So, in this research we are intended to study on the property of Photocatalytic Concrete which is one of the High Performance Concrete. The fundamental phenomena of the Photocatalytic Concrete were observed by the NOx Analyzer, Bonding strength, SEM, Flow and Surface hardness(Pencil tester). As a result of this study, the Photocatalytic Concrete used Photocatalytic powder, admixture and other materials can obtain its properties, also photocatalytic efficiency(NOx reduction). Also, we have convinced of the Photocatalytic Concrete possibility and put on a spurt to improve its properties added a various experiment.

Addition of steel fiber to shotcrete is to improve the brittleness of concrete. Quality of steel fiber reinforced shotcrete can be evaluated by quantitive analysis of toughness characteristics after cracking. The toughness characteristics can be expressed by absolute value of energy absorption capacity, non-dimensional toughness index related to the energy absorption capacity, and equivalent flexural strength at arbitrary deflection. In this study, merits and demerits of flexural toughness by RTA round panel of Australia and other specifications have been analyzed.

Fiber reinforced concrete has been used for tunnel lining and rehabilitation of old structures. Recently, structural synthetic fiber was developed to overcome the corrosive properties of steel fibers. Fibers play a role to increase the tensile and cracking resistance of concrete structures. The Post cracking behavior must be clarified to predict cracking resistance of fiber reinforced concrete. The purpose of the present study is to develop a realistic analysis method for post cracking behavior of synthetic fiber reinforced concrete members.

Recently, as industrialization is rapidly growing and the standard of life is rising, the quantities of waste glasses have been hastily increased and most of them are not recycled but abandoned. It causes some problems such as the waste of natural resources and environmental pollution. Therefore, in this study freeze-thaw resistance test was conducted to analyze the properties of concrete containing waste glasses as fine aggregates and containing industrial by-products (fly ashes, silica fumes). As a results, it was found that freeze-thaw resistance decreases as the content of waste glasses increases. Also, the content of fly ash doesn't affect to the freeze-thaw resistance, and freeze-thaw resistance decreases with tile increase of silica fume contents.

This study explored physical properties of a hardened cement and a concrete specimen using a high performance cement type solidification consisting of a weathered granite soil and a yellow soil mainly. Also the development of high performance cement type solidification was purposed for an intensity improvement and a long-term durability. As the experimental results, a mortar used by the weathered granite soil shows positive result, however using the yellow soil as a mortar Shows less positive result at the compressive strength. Also the dynamic modulus of elasticity measurement result, the concrete specimens used by the weathered granite and the yellow soil reached above 90%, so it seems to have the durability of freezing and thawing.

In road pavements, it is known that cement concrete pavement has superior durability, safety compared. But in repairing pavement, cement concrete pavement is not usually applied because of the length of time while the road is interrupted when using Ordinary and Rapid-hardening Portland Cement. And Super High Early Strength Cement and Ultra Super High Early Strength Cement are not favorable for ready mixed concrete because of rapid setting time, high slump loss and other restrictions. We developed special cement developing 1 day strength of over 30.0N/mm
$^2$ to open the road within 1 day and workable time is maintained over 1 hour so that it can be used as ready mixed concrete. We performed experimental overlay construction with the cement and evaluated the mechanical property and the durability. At curing temperature of 8-l8$^{\circ}C$ ,the flexural strength was 6.4N/mm$^2$ at 1 day, so that the road can be open to traffic within 1 day. In durability test, the hardened concrete showed higher durability than Portland cement concrete. -
Steel slag produced in steel making process is divided with electric arc furnace slag and converter slag. Compared with the blast furnace slag, converter slag has the expansibility due to the reaction with water and free CaO. Therefore it is specified in Standard Specification for Concrete in Korea that steel slag aggregate must not be used in concrete. In this study, we treat electric arc furnace slag aggregate(EAFSA) for concrete before and after several aging process to reduce expansibility. The fundamental properties are measured, which are specific gravity, unit weight, abrasion value and immersion expansion ratio, as concrete aggregate. To understand the suitability of EAFSA for concrete, we made the concrete with EAFSA and then determined the strength and the volume change in EAFSA concrete. From the results EAFSA treated with steam aging process has potentiality for concrete aggregate.

The purpose of this study is to manufacture sintered lightweight aggregate for non-structural concrete using sewage sludge, organic waste matter is produced to a sewage treatment plant. It is tested for basic property and strength of artificial aggregate according to addition ratio of sewage sludge, and the results are compared with imported aggregate from Spain. As the results of experiment, the manufactured lightweight aggregate could be used for non-structural concrete. Also, it was favorably comparable to those of the imported aggregate. When it is manufactured with aggregate, it is safe environmentally because of protecting elution of harmful heavy metals.

The availability of natural aggregates has decreased in recent years due to depleting reserves. From the viewpoint of energy and resources saving, it may be advantageous to use the waste concrete as construction aggregates. This study shows basic data for using as the structural lightweight aggregate. This will be the procedural method of recycling environmental close waste PET bottle lightweight aggregate(PBLA) that is rapidly increased the amount of production of waste PET bottle recently, the quality of developed PBLA and the fundamental properties by analyzing of mortar containing with PBLA. After experiment, the result shows the PBLA quality that have oven dry specific gravity of 1.39, unit volume weight of 844 kg/m
$^3$ and absorption rate of 0% is satisfied with qualify regulation of lightweight aggregate. The flowability of mortar containing PBLA is increased maximum 16% with increasing mixing ratio of PBLA, however the compressive strength of mortar is decreased maximum 35% with increasing mixing ratio of PBLA. -
In this study, the experiments of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and special blended slag powder or diatom calcined at 650
$\circ$ were performed on compressive strength, shrinkage and creep. The compressive strength of concrete with recycled aggregate and pozzolanic materials were higher than that of concrete with crushed stone and OPC. On the other hand, the shrinkage and creep of concrete with recycled aggregate and pozzolanic materials was smaller than that of concrete with crushed stone and OPC. Futhermore, the shrinkage and creep of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and special blended slag powder was a little decreased that of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and diatom. Relationship between compressive strength and creep coefficient was shown to the linear relation like as$\sigma$ $_{c}$ = -30CF+404.4. -
A research for recycling the demolished-concrete as concrete aggregate has been concerned in all over the world. There, however, are some problems that qualities of recycled aggregates are not only largely different, but also mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete decrease a little in comparison with that of natural aggregate concrete. In this study, the resistance of freezing and thawing of concrete using source-concrete recycled aggregate(SRN) and demolished-concrete recycled aggregate(DRA) was investigated. Futhermore a research for improvement of freeze and thaw durability of recycled aggregate concrete was performed. Relative dynamic modulus of elasticity of SRN and DRA recycled aggregate concrete was dropped 60% before 150 of freezing and thawing cycle, and was much lower than that of control concrete. Relative dynamic modulus of elasticity of recycled aggregate concrete was increased to decrease water-cement ratio, but the freeze and thaw durability of recycled aggregate concrete was not enough improved. Futhermore, when metakaolin and silica fume were repalced, the freeze and thaw durability of recycled aggregate concrete containg metakaolin was more improved than that of silica fume.

In order to suggest recyling and handling method of a tailing, observe it's physical and chemical properties, make an quality test of aggregates which are used a tailing and then examine a applied possibility in architectural materials. Tailing has a ununiform and many-side shape and it is organized quartz, muscovite, calcite, montmorillonite. pH is 6.86-7.28 and the result of leaching test is that Hg and Pb exceed of a standard. The specific gravity of aggregates which are used tailing is 1.95-2.23 and the absorption factor is 9-14.67%. The result of test for abrasion and crushing of aggregates which are used BFS is very excellent. The heavy metal is stabilized but a eruption property of Hg is similar to original sample.

The purpose of this study is to analyze void ratio, coefficient of water permeability, and strength characteristics when silica fume and carbon fibers were added in order to improve the strength of porous concrete, and when recycled aggregates were used. Comparing with the case that recycled aggregate was not used, as the replacement ratio of recycled aggregate increased, the differences in void ratios and strength characteristics were decreased. In the case that silica fume was used, the content of 10% silica fume was most effective in improving strength. In the case that carbon fibers were used, the content of 3% carbon fiber were good to achieve the highest flexural strength, and Pan-derived CF was much better than pitch-derived CF in improving these effects.

In this paper, insulating effects and strength development of concrete placed at mock up model structure are discussed using anti freezing agent and insulating forms. According to test results, concrete containing 8% of anti freezing agent shows lower freezing temperature, earlier setting time and higher strength development than plain concrete. As for the temperature history of mock up structures, when plain concrete is placed at euro form, the temperature drops to -4
${\circ}$ before early 24 hours, and when concrete containing anti freeze agent at euro form, it to -3${\circ}$ before early 24 hours. Nevertheless, when concrete containing anti freeze agent is placed at insulating form, it does not go below zero, and the concrete containing anti freeze agent enhances higher strength development. -
This paper describes the properties analysis of concrete using bleeding reduction agent. According to the results, the fluidity and the air content of fresh concrete with increase of bleeding reduction agent show little difference in compare with plain concrete which does not use bleeding reduction agent. The efficiency of bleeding reduction agent is confirmed because in variation of W/C and slump, the increase of bleeding reduction agent dosage reduces bleeding remarkably. And the compressive strength of hardened concrete does not show any differences with increase the dosage of bleeding reduction agent. Bleeding reduction agent does not have bad effect on the quality of concrete such as fluidity, air content and the strength of hardened concrete and so on, the dosage of it can reduce bleeding effectively.

This study was to operate a fitting production specific of concrete product for proper mixing discovery. Testing method was to operate slump, air content, compressive strength test. The standard was water-cement ratio 50% and weight substitution 0%, 10%, 20% by Fly-ash and using Silica-fume and HPMC(Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulos) by additive. The result of this study showed when add Fly-ash to Silica-Fume is better than HPMC.

In this study, a high volume fly-ash substituted concrete experiments in two curing temperature circumstances - 35

There is slump, air contents, concrete setting tests. 3, 7, As fresh concrete test items and 28 days water curing compressive strength is measured in the hardened concrete test. The purpose of this study is to submit a various fly-ash concrete data for application to field. The result of this study is that the best strength is developed at the plain concrete cured 20${\circ}$ , and Mixing F43 shows the best strength among specimens which cured at 35${\circ}$ , -
The chemical shrinkage and the autogenous shrinkage have been determined experimentally for cement pastes incorporating different W/C ratio and different amount of the following addition: silica fume, fly ash and sand. The measurement method of the chemical shrinkage and autogenous shrinkage both were the volumetric technique. The silica fume has a effect of increasing the autogenous shrinkage while have a minor effect on the chemical shrinkage. The addition of fly-ash and sand both decreased the amount of chemical shrinkage and autogenous shrinkage.

Recently, recycling aggregates could be gained from the reconstruction works using recycle process. And the study and research of recycle concretes developed concrete application methods. It could put some outcome of studies to practical use for concrete products. The methods of crushing waste concrete are going diverse. In this study, the fundamental experiments and recycling application is investigated and analyzed with use of recycling aggregate which made of mechanical crush and underwater electrical impact crush. and the difference between underwater electrical impact crush, mechanical crush and natural aggregates is studied.

Recently, the coal ash production has been increased by increase of consumption of electric power. So it is important to find a reclaimed place and treatment utility for treating coal ash. Accordingly, in this study we performed an experimental study to compare and analyze the properties of concrete according to W/C and bottom ash replacement ratio. As a result of this study, it was found that the bleeding content was decreased according to decrease of W/C and increase of bottom ash replacement ratio, and the compressive strength of concrete using bottom ash was similar to plain concrete(replacement ratio 0%).

Recently, there has been for a number of reasons growing interest in the use of porous concrete, and it is used as an ecological material. But, because the valuation methods of the quality on the fresh porous concrete aren't established up till now, it is difficult that the harden porous concrete is made sure of its required quality. This study is to present the measurement method of the void ratio on the fresh porous concrete and to analyze the influence of water-cement ratio and vibrating time on the binder content covered a coarse aggregate. Results of this study were shown as follows; The measurement methods of the void ratio and aggregate-binder weight ratio on the fresh porous concrete can be useful as data for the quality control of fresh porous concrete.

The purpose of this study is to develop a strength control model for application of variety internal condition at construction field. The results of this study were shown as follows ; 1) According to results of compressive strength of concrete by using equivalent age, new curve is applicable of construction field because there is similar relation with logistic curve. 2) It is shown that the construction period is shorten by reduction of the formwork removal time, because a predicted compressive strength of using the new curve is high than proposed compressive strength of standard.

The results of an experiment on the water purification of the porous concrete and its influence on the compressive strength are reported in this paper. Two different sizes of coarse aggregate of 5-10, and 10-20mm, and three absolute volume ratios of paste to aggregate of 30, 40 and 50 percent for a given size of aggregate were used. For the compressive strength, the concrete with the aggregate size of 5-10mm showed much higher strength than that with the aggregate size of 10-20mm. But, the compressive strength is higher when the ratio of paste to aggregate is smaller. In the water purification experiment, the amount of attached an organism on the porous concrete surface indirectly is examined by measuring the consumption of the Dissolved Oxygen (DO). The ability of the water purification is evaluated by the removal amount of the Total Phosphorus(T-P) and Total Nitrogen(T-N). The ability of the removal of the T-N and T-P in the test water is superior to a porous concrete with a smaller size of aggregate and a higher void content. These results are owing to a large specific surface area of the specimen. As a result, porous concrete using by-products has sufficient performance of water purification.

The durability of concrete involves resistance to freeze-thaw action, corrosion, permeation, carbonation, chemical attack and so on. Generally, properties of concrete have been well understood under the separate action of these deterioration mechanisms. However, in practice, the degradation of concrete usually is the result of combined action of physical and chemical attack and can be accelerated by the combined action of several deterioration mechanisms. In the present study, to evaluate the combined deterioration by freeze-thaw action and seawater attack, ground granulated blast-furnace slag or silica fume concrete with water or seawater as mixing water was exposed to 210 cycles of freeze-thaw action. Tests were conducted to determined the relative dynamic modulus of elasticity and compressive strength. Furthermore, The XRD, SEM and EDS analysis were performed on the deteriorated part of concrete due to freeze-thaw action and seawater attack.

The degradation of reinforced concrete (RC) structures due to physical and chemical attacks has been a major issue in construction engineering. Deterioration of RC structures due to chloride attack followed by reinforcement corrosion is one of the serious problems. The objective of this study is to develop a form of mathematical model of chloride ingress into concrete. In order to overcome some limits of the previous approaches, a mathematical model of chloride ingress into concrete consisting of chloride solution intrusion through the capillary pore and chloride ion diffusion through the pore water was proposed. Moreover, the variability of diffusivity of chloride ion due to degree of hydration of concrete, relative humidity in pore, exposure condition, and variation of chloride binding was considered in the chloride ingress model.

The chief factors for the penetration and diffusion of chloride ions in concrete are water-cement ratio(w/c), aging, thickness of cover concrete, chloride ions concentration of given environment, wet and dry conditions and etc. In this study, effect of w/c and aging on the characteristics of chloride ions diffusion in concrete were researched when environmental factors for the penetration and diffusion of chloride ions were constant. For this purpose, the voltages passing through the diffusion cell were measured by using accelerated test method using potential difference, and then diffusion coefficients of chloride ions by using Andrade's method were estimated for 44%, 49.5% and 55% of w/c, respectively. As a result, correlation among diffusion coefficients of chloride ions, w/c and aging were concluded through multiple regression model.

Chloride ingress into concrete followed by reinforcement corrosion and deterioration of concrete structures is a major problem for many structures under chloride attacks. Large-scale concrete structures directly exposed to seawater such as SeoHae Grand Bridge are increasingly constructed along the coast in Korea. It is necessary to investigate the environmental conditions of concrete structures exposed to chloride attacks. In this study, the air-borne chloride contents of highway bridges exposed to marine environment in Korea were measured.

The safety and serviceability of concrete structures are influenced by corrosion of steel bars in concrete. Several methods have been available to protect the reinforcing bars from corrosion. Among them, the surface coating method is one of the easiest way to apply to concrete structures. However, the realistic guideline for surface coating materials has not been established yet in this country. In this study, in order to establish a reasonable technical guidelines which include the test method, quality criteria, and construction method, the performances of surface coating materials were evaluated.

The concrete structures in marine environment has been used type V cement(sulfate-resisting Portland cement), but according to the study results reported recently, the question has been raised for effect of the resistance to salt attack of the concrete using type V cement. It is increased the demands on the use of mineral admixtures such as fly ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag instead of type V cement in order to improve the durability of concrete structures. Therefore, this study focused on the durability evaluation of concrete containing fly ash under marine environment, and the tests such as salt attack, carbonation, sulfate attack, and freezing-thawing were performed. Test results showed t]hat the resistance to salt attack, sulfate attack and freezing-thawing was improved, and the carbonation was in some disadvantage compared with normal concrete. Nevertheless, the durability of fly ash concrete would be maintained during the service life of structures.

This paper was peformed to verify the effect that granulated blast furnace slag gets in reinforcement corrosion resistance about chloride ion that invade from outside. An experiment accelerated for the reinforcement corrosion through repeat of brine digestion and dry. Reinforcement corrosion investigated half cell potential method of measurement by ASTM C876 and corrosion area ratio. If granulated blast furnace slag metathesis ratio is high generally that looked the corrosion of reinforcement decreasing as a result that evaluate reinforcement corrosion by ASTM C876 canon in this research. It showed high resistance about reinforcement corrosion that use normal portland cement and increase the metathesis rate of granulated blast furnace slag, as a result that evaluate metathesis rate effect of granulated blast furnace slag according to cement kind. when the test piece split destroying, area rate of reinforcement corrosion showed about result of half cell potential measurement.

Using the diffusion cell, a experimental study on the nitrogen permeability was performed with the various thickness of concrete. This is important with relating to the carbonation study because the study of
$CO_2$ diffusivity needs to use thin concrete specimen. Experimental results show that the nitrogen permeability is few affected by concrete specimen's thickness. But, specimens with 1cm thickness have a high permeability and deviation relatively. Also, specimens with w/c ratio 0.40 have a low permeability than 0.58. Consequently, the 3cm thickness is the better stable than others but the 1cm thickness specimens will be stable in case having a lot of specimens. -
The variance characteristics of the calcium carbonate contents along to the concrete cover depth takes the prediction method of remaining service life of concrete. Calcium carbonate contents were measured by the Thermo Gravimetric/Differential Thermal Analysis method at three point, depth of 0.25cm, 0.75cm, 1.25cm from the surface of concrete. This prediction method contain some assumption that the chemical protection conferred on steel is through a passive protective oxide film which forms on steel in an environment at or above a pH of 10.5

Porous concrete with a great deal of continuous porosity enables to contain water and to pass air freely through firmly hardened material, and allow necessary nutrients to reach roots of vegetation. Therefore, this paper deals with the voluntary properties and efficiency for planting of plant porous concrete. The results of experiment showed that void volumes were 17% to 31%, and compressive strength ranged between 80kgf/cm
$^2$ and 180kgf/cm$^2$ when the ratio of the paste to aggregate was 0.3-0.5 When the aggregate size are 20-30mm, the paste to aggregate ratio is 0.3, and the length of Paranial Ryegress came up as 32cm. Ut supra the efficiency of planting goes through Paranial Ryegrass in result the length of plant are in compliance with void volume and aggregate size. -
The voided slab have many advantages, light weight, high load-distribution capacity, low cost and beautiful appearance, etc. But they have also many cracks due to difficulties in designs and construction, analysis, shrinkage, installation and rising force of voided tube. This paper presents the retrofit effects with steel plate(SP)/carbon fiber sheet(CFS) of RC voided slab. As a results of this study, it proved that the strip pattern has to be profitable than full-face pattern in performance such as crack, ultimate loads, stiffness. Retrofit length has many influence on retrofit effects, as the length increases, performance and stability of end blocks higher. Also, it proved that the retrofit on full-section has to be profitable than voided-section in performance, and the overlay length of CFS is desirable to extent approximately and welding(V-cut) has to be efficient than anchors in SP connection. But the kinds of end block and anchor has not influence on retrofit effects.

This paper presents the analytical results on the seismic retrofit of circular bridge columns with poor lap-splice details using FRP jacket. The as-built column suffered brittle failure due to the deterioration of lap-spliced longitudinal reinforcement without developing its flexural capacity or ductility. The retrofitted columns using FRP jacket showed significant improvement in seismic performance due to FRP's confinement effect. FRP's confinement effect is predicted by the classical elasticity solution for the laminated circular tube manufactural with several layers, and induces the flexural failure instead of bondslip failure.

The compatibility of concrete repairs is proposed by D. Cusson et al. and N. K. Emberson et al. But this is the general compatibility of concrete repairs. This study is actualized the general compatibility of concrete repairs on the flexural specimen under bending load. This study is obtained following results. 1) As a results of analysis for repair effects on failure shape, debonding between concrete and repairs, yielding load and ultimate/yielding ratio, the repair effects is ascertained that the repair R3 is much excellent than the repair R7, but on the other hand R7 is very high than R3 on the viewpoint of compressive strength, where repair R7, R3 is a product. 2) Therefore the compatibility of concrete repair proposed by D. Cusson et al. and N. K. Emberson et al. must be reanalyzed for structures types of column, beam, wall, slab et al.

An experimental study was carried out to evaluate the structural performance of new retrofitting technology using high performance carbon fiber bar and strengthening metal fittings. Experimental programs were accomplished to evaluate the structural performance of test specimens, such as load-displacement relationship, crack propagation, ductility, and strain of retrofitting materials etc.. Specimens(BCR2, BCR2-AF1) designed with the new retrofitting technology using high-performance carbon fiber bar and strengthening metal fittings showed much higher load-carrying capacity and ductility compared to specimens(BC1P, BC2P, BS30) designed with the conventional retrofitting method.

An experimental work is performed to evaluate the retrofit method of damaged flexural walls. For two flexural walls damaged up to almost failure, reinforcements yielded and concrete below height of 1d are replaced with new reinforcements and steel fiber concrete, respectively. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of Aramid sheet for retrofitting walls, Aramid sheet is also, attached to longitudinal direction and rolled horizontal direction of one wall specimen. Horizontal cyclic loads are applied to the top of the specimen with constant axial load. Test result showed that retrofitting with steel fiber concrete after replacing reinforcements can not afford to recover 100% of the wall capacity before damage. However, the capacity of walls could be sufficiently strengthened by using Aramid sheet.

In this paper, the strengthening analysis by strut-tie model for strengthened shear failed RC deep beam by the so-called the Steel Clamping Unit (SCU), which is a strengthening equipment, is carried out. The analysis considers the span-to-depth ratio, the existence of prestressing and stirrup, the shape of shear crack, and the strengthening position of the SCU. Based on analytical results, optimized strengthening analysis and design are carried out by investigating the behavior of the strengthened deep beams. The comparison between analytical results and experimental results shows that optimum strengthening effect by the SCU can be obtained when compressive strut zone created by SCU is away from major shear crack of the beam as far as possible.

Lap splice in plastic hinge region of RC bridge piers is inevitable because of the constructional joint between footing and column. RC circular columns with lap-splice in plastic hinge region are widely used in Korean highway bridges. It is, however, believed that there we not many experimental research works for nonlinear behavior of these columns subjected to earthquake motions. This study has been peformed to verify the effect of lap splice and confinement steel ratio for the seismic behaviour of reinforced concrete bridge piers. Quasi-static test have been done to investigate the physical seismic performance of RC bridge piers, such as displacement ductility.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the reinforcement effect of the RC compressive member confined with carbon fiber sheets and to suggest better transverse confinement coefficient(k
$_1$ ) than one's in the existing analysis equations. Showing amounts of CPS in terms of ratio of transverse reinforcement to cross-section, it comes to be possible to calculate the objective and quantitative reinforcement amounts and to estimate the overlapping length of CFS that can influence on all its confinement effect. The previous parameters were compared using the existing experimental test data, then analyzed for the merits and demerits of existing parameters through the coefficient of correlation(R). The proposed parameters were derived in such a way that established parameters and their combination were obtained from the analytical study and then determined by regression analysis using the previous test data. -
Development on non-destructive testing methods were performed to evaluate the effectiveness of crack repair for test beams induced a crack. Cracked beams are repaired with expoxy and microcement, and then they are tested by two methods, the ultrasonic pulse velocity method and the transfer function method. It is proved that the ultrasonic pulse velocity method is very valid for the evaluation of the effectiveness on expoxy repair, and the transfer function method is very applicable to evaluate the effectiveness on microcement repair.

From the analysis results of some as-built drawings in national roadway bridges in Korea, many bridge piers are expected to show complex shear-flexural behaviour under earthquakes. But the previous research works about the seismic evaluation of bridges considered flexural behaviour RC piers only. In addition, the past bridge design specifications in Korea didn't include limitation on the amount of longitudinal lap splices in the plastic hinge zone of piers. Thus a large majority of non-seismically designed bridge piers in Korea may have lap splices in plastic hinge zone. In this study, prototype pier was selected among existent bridge piers whose failure mode is expected to be complex shear-flexural mode. And then, full scale and 1/2 reduced scale model RC piers with various longitudinal lap splice details were constructed. From the quasi static test results on these model RC piers, the effect of longitudinal lap splices on the seismic performance of bridges piers was analyzed. And the seismic capacity of the non-seismically designed shear-flexural RC piers was evaluated.

This paper is about seismic performance of the StLRB(S.T.U+PETE+LRB) system, that is among various base isolator. A rational modeling of StLRB system has been presented that used Nllink element. We get theoretical solutions of equation of motion of the system and compared with numerical solutions using a finite element program, Thus, a verified modeling can be applied bridge structure of multi-degree-of-fredoom systems.

This study is performed to investigate the behavior of multi-column piers and to evaluate the seismic performance. In this study, 3 types of scale model piers with 2-column are designed and tested by quasi-static load in both longitudinal and transverse directions. Each type of model consisting of 2 specimens has different reinforcement details in the lap splice of longitudinal bars and amount of transverse reinforcements. This paper reports that relatively large amount of ductility can be achieved by providing sufficient lap-splice length and transverse reinforcements with end hook even if longitudinal bars are lap spliced in the base of pier. But because multi-column piers have small longitudinal stiffness, careful consideration is needed in case of multi-span continuous bridges.

The objective of this study is to investigate the seismic capacity of the non-seismically detailed RC bridge piers before and after applying a seismic retrofitting method using stainless steel wire mesh. Total nine circular section RC piers were constructed. Different lap splice longitudinal reinforcement details were adapted for four specimens and various types of stainless steel wire mesh were applied for the remaining five specimens. Harmonic cyclic lateral load was applied on each specimen under a constant axial load. The test results indicated that the existing circular piers have low seismic capacity while the stainless steel wire mesh retrofitting method improves the seismic capacity considerably. In addition, test results revealed that the circular section piers could have a considerable amount of ductility if longitudinal bars are not lap-spliced in potential plastic hinge zone. Based on this experimental study it could be concluded that the seismic performance, that is ductility and energy absorption capacity, of the non-seismically detailed RC bridge piers would be increased by applying the stainless steel wire mesh seismic retrofitting method.

Pseudo dynamic test is an on-line computer control method to achieve the realism of shaking table test with the economy and versatility of the conventional quasi-static approach. Pseudo dynamic tests of four full-size RC bridge piers have been carried out to investigate their seismic performance. For the purpose of precise evaluation, the experimental investigation was conducted to study the seismic performance of the real size specimen, which is constructed for highway bridge piers in Korean peninsula. Since it is believed that Korea belongs to the moderate seismicity region, three test specimens were designed in accordance with limited ductility design concept. Another one test specimen was nonseismically designed according to a conventional code. Important test parameters were transverse reinforcement and lap splicing. Lap splicing was frequently used in the plastic hinge region of many bridge columns. Furthermore, the seismic design code is not present about lap splice in Korean Roadway Bridge Design Code. The results show that specimens designed according to the limited ductility design concept exhibit higher seismic resistance. Specimens with longitudinal steel lap splice in the plastic hinge region appeared to significantly fail at low ductility level.

Flat plate is susceptible to punching shear failure at the slab-column connection, which may cause catastrophic structural collapse. To prevent such brittle failure, strength and ductility of the connection should be ensured. However, since it is very difficult to experimentally simulate the actual load and boundary conditions of the flat plate system, it is not easy to obtain reliable information and data regarding to the strength and ductility of the flat plate-column connection. In the present study, numerical studies were performed for interior connections of continuous flat plate. The results were compared with the existing experiments, and the variations of bending moment, shear, torsional moment around the connection were investigated. Based on the findings of the numerical studies, the disadvantages of current design methods were discussed.

The failure of flat plate connection is successive failure process accompanying with stress redistribution, hence it is necessary to compute the contributions of each resistance components at ultimate state. In the present study, the interactions of resultant forces at each faces of connection, i.e. shear, bending moment and torsional moment are considered in the assessment of strength of slab. As a result the strength prediction model for connection is made up as combination of bending resistance, shear resistance and torsional resistance. The proposed method is verified by the experimental data and numerical data of continuous slabs.

The production of waste glasses has been increased with the development of industry. The utilization of waste glass for concrete can cause the concrete to be cracked and to be weakened due to an expansion by alkali-silica reaction(ASR). When used the fibers with waste glass, there is an effect on reduction of expansion and strength loss due to ASR between the alkali in the cement paste and the silica in the waste glass. In this study, we conducted basic experimental research to analyze the possibilities of recycling of amber waste glass as fine aggregates for steel fiber reinforced concrete. Test results of fresh concrete. slump is decreased because grain shape is angular and air content is increased due to involving small size particles so much in waste glasses. Also. tensile and flexural strengths increased as the content of steel fibers increased. In conclusion, the content of waste glass below 40% is reasonable and usage of pertinent admixture is necessary to obtain workability or air content.

It is important to consider the effect of depth when estimating the ultimate strength of a concrete flexural member because the strength always decreases with an increase of member size. In this study, the size effect of reinforced concrete beam was experimentally investigated. For this purpose, a series of beam specimens subjected to 2-point bending load were tested. More specifically, three different depth (d=15, 30, and 60 cm) of reinforced concrete beams were tested to investigate the size effect. The shear-span to depth ratio (a/d=3) and thickness (20 cm) of the specimens were kept constant where the size effect in out-of-plan direction is not considered. The test results are fitted using least square method (LSM) to obtain parameters for modified size effect law (MSEL). The analysis results indicate that the flexural compression strength and ultimate strain decreases as the specimen size increases. Finally, more general parameters for MSEL are suggested.

This paper deals with the estimation of the maximum crack widths considering bond-slip relationships based on experimental data that were tensed by axial force. It is certificated that the concrete stress condition clearly affects the bond-slip relationship. The proposed method utilizes the conventional crack and bond-slip theories as well as the characteristics of deformed reinforcement and size effects. An analytical equation for the estimation of the maximum flexural crack width is formulated as a function of minimum crack length and the coefficient of bond stress effect. The validity, accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are established by comparing the analytical results with the experimental data and the major specifications (e.g., ACI, CEB-FIP Model code, Turocode 2, JSCE, etc.). The analytical results presented in this paper indicate that the proposed method can be effectively estimated the maximum flexural crack width of reinforced concrete.

Experimental and analytical study were conducted to develop the confined model of reinforced high strength concrete tied columns subjected to monotonically increasing concentric axial compression. Twenty-one large-scale columns(260
$\times$ 260$\times$ 1200mm) used high strength concrete of 50 and 85MPa were fabricated to simulate an actual structural members size. Test results indicated that gains of strength and ductility of high strength concrete columns could be increased, if efficient arrangements and volumetric ratios of transverse reinforcements were provided. The proposed model satisfactorily predicted the experimental stress-strain curves for high strength concrete up to 100MPa. -
Eight full-scale columns were constructed and tested under monotonic axial compression loading to investigate the influence of headed bars on the confinement of the concrete. One column represented a column with no transverse reinforcement and another column had poor detailing and little confinement. A third column contained seismic hoops and crossties, which represented current detailing practice for significant confinement. A fourth column test is conducted to investigate the response with the seismic crossties replaced by headed bars. Two column specimens were constructed and tested with all of the transverse reinforcement provided by headed bars. These six specimens enabled an assesment of the effectiveness of headed bars in confining the concrete. It was found that the use of headed bars improved the confinement of the columns. Two additional specimens were constructed without any transverse reinforcement. These columns were later retrofitted, by drilling horizontal holes in the columns, adding special headed bars (one head fixed and the other head threaded) and then filling the drilled holes with epoxy. These retrofitted specimens with these added headed bars provided insight into the rehabilitation of older structures containing poorly detailed columns. All of the test specimens were instrumented to determine strain localization during failure and to monitor the strain in the longitudinal and transverse reinforcement.

This paper presents the failure mode on Headed Bars and prediction of tensile capacity, which is governed by concrete cone failure. 17 different plate types, three different concrete strengths and three different welding types of specimens were simulated. Static tensile load was applied Headed Bars were manufactured in different areas, and their shape and thickness are based on ASTM 970-98. Calculation of embedment length in concrete is conducted based on CSA 23.3-94, and static tensile load was applied. Tested pullout capacities were compared to the values determined using current design methods such as ACI-349 and CCD method.

Short reinforced concrete bridge piers are particularly susceptible to shear failure as a consequence of the high shear/moment ratio and conservatism in the flexural strength design of existing RC bridge pier, which were constructed before 1992. In addition, shear failure is brittle and involves rapid strength degradation. Inelastic shear deformation is thus unsuitable for ductile seismic response. It is, however, believed that there are not many experimental research works for shear failure of the existing RC bridge pier in Korean peninsula subjected to earthquake motions. The object of this research is to evaluate the seismic performance of existing circular RC bridge piers by the quasi-static test. Existing RC bridge piers were moderate seismically designed in accordance with the conventional provisions of Korea Highway Design Specification. This study has been performed to verify the effect of aspect ratio (column height-diameter ratio). Quasi-static test has been done to investigate the physical seismic performance of RC bridge piers, such as lateral force-displacement hysteric curve, envelope curve etc.

Recently, there have been increased much concerns about repair and rehabilitation works for aged concrete structures. In particular, it is known that due to repeated overburden vehicle there are significantly increasing number of aged concrete bridge slabs, which are strongly needed to construct and rehabilitate by innovative construction method. The objective of this research is to develop the new construction method of concrete slab in bridge structure, which can contribute to minimize the traffic congestion during the repair and rehabilitation works of aged concrete slab, and can also sufficiently assure the quality through the minimization of in-situ works at the site. I-beams with punch holes, which are substituted instead of main reinforcing steels in concrete slabs, will be manufactured in accordance with the specification in the factory, and will be preassembled into the panel. After erecting the preassembled panels in the site, concrete will be poured into the slab panel. This research is to investigate physical properties of I-Beam concrete slab through static test.

The finishing method of concrete floor using automatic surface finisher is one of new technologies in concrete floor construction. The development of high technologies in construction will increase in order to satisfy the demand to construct high quality building. Using this method, it is possible to increase the quality of building as well as to reduce the labor work in site. In this paper, a system which can be used to finish the concrete floor using automatic surface finisher, is presented and its structural capacities are evaluated. The system is composed of rail which guides the surface vibrator and absorbs the volume change of concrete, and a device supporting the rail. From the experimental work for these devices, it was shown that the support and rail had suitable strength to resist the automatic surface finisher. For design purpose, also, effective span of supports was tabulated.

The purpose of this study is to establish flexural behavior of high-strength concrete by means of both theoretical approach and experimental analysis of beams in which confinement stirrups have been introduced into pure bending zone. The experiment was carried out on full-scale high-strength reinforced concrete beams whose compressive strengths are 400 and 700kgf/cm
$^2$ , and confined with rectangular closed stirrups. The test results are reviewed in terms of flexural capacity and ductility. -
The strengthening of concrete structures in situ with externally bonded carbon fiber is increasingly being used for repair and rehabilitation of existing structures. Carbon fiber is attractive for this application due to its good tensile strength, resistances to corrosion, and low weight. Generally bond strength and behavior between concrete and carbon fiber mesh(CFM) is very important, because of the enhanced bond of CFM. Therefore if bond strength is sufficient, it will be expected to enhance reinforcement effect. If insufficient, reinforcement effect can not be enhanced because of bond failure between concrete and CFM. This study is to investigate the bond strength of CFM to the concrete using direct pull-out test and tensile-shear test. The key variables of the experiment are the location of clip, number of clips and thickness of cover mortar. The general results indicate that the clip anchorage technique for increasing bond strength with CFM appear to be effective to maintain the good post-failure behavior.

This study was performed to verify the effect of various testing conditions affecting measured compressive strength of concrete core and to compute the correction coefficients for it. Conditions of specimens affecting test results include size(diameter), height-diameter ratio, humidity of specimen, amount and arrangement of bar, core direction from structure and method of end preparation. In testing core strength of concrete, special cares should be taken on various testing conditions whose effects have been latent in conventional concrete.

The mat foundation of Tower Palace III is designed as a massive structure which has a 3.5m depth. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum mix design having good workability and to control the actual concrete quality in site. For this purpose, we select the Self Compacting Concrete. Recently, the Self Compacting Concrete has been applied to achieve workability improvement. As the result of actual application, we have finished placing the mass concrete of 8, 000m
$^3$ during 14hours with good success and obtain the good quality concrete. All test results are satisfied with our specifications for mat foundation and cut cost as the reduction of placing hours. -

In this study, there are kind of property experiments like fluidity, compressive strength, bleeding measurement, concrete sink for CFT use high fluidity concrete. The property difference between before transmit and after transmit concrete in the mock up test with ready mixed concrete equipment is examined. The variable factors in mock up are diaphragm existence and nonexistence, diaphragm placing hole sizes. To investigate the concrete property under diaphragm, concrete packing ability tests is peformed. High fluidity and strength concrete which satisfied with mix criteria could apply to building construction field. It it is quality managed with use of packing ability analysis.

Traditional prediction models have been developed with a fixed equation form based on the limited number of data and parameters. If new data is quite different from original data, then the model should update not only its coefficients but also its equation form. However, artificial neural network (ANN) does not need a specific equation form. Instead of that, it needs enough input-output data. Also, it can continuously re-train the new data, so that it can conveniently adapt to new data. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to develop the I-PreConS (Intelligent system for PREdiction of CONcrete Strength using ANN) that provides in-place strength information of the concrete to facilitate concrete form removal and scheduling for construction.

The purpose of this research was to obtain fatigue property of pavement concrete by split tension fatigue test. The specimens of pavement concrete were fabricated using the concrete at jop site. The fatigue tests of split tension were performed by 4 stress levels(90%, 80%, 70%, 60%) and 3 stress ratio(0.1, 0.3, 0.5). From this research, the S-N relationship, S-N-P relationship was derived and Weibull probability density functions was plotted using the distribution parameters.

In this study, developed economical and scientific Pavement Management System(PMS) that can produce suitable maintenance method through judgement and analysis of pavement condition exactly, to overcome past unscientific pavement management limitations. First, on the basis of data of the inside and outside of the country on PMS, composed logical algorithm such as pavement condition investigation and analysis, detailed naked eye investigation, whole system estimation etc., and it verified that this algorithm is suitable system through the inside and outside of the country PMS research examples and results of detailed naked eye investigation. Also, developed easily usable PMS program and PMS_GIS program with such logical algorithm.

Recycling of coal combustion by-product(Ash) are becoming more improtant in the utilization business as a result of the increased use of NOx reduction technologies at coal-fired power plants. Current disposal methods of these by-products create not only a loss of profit for the power industry, but also environmental concerns that breed negative public opinion. This research made Precast block for environment-friendly secondary product and compare strength special quality of this block with existent common use brick and analyze application possibility in situ with a reserve experiment that measure strength property and manufacture method to handle coal ash produced in Bo-ryung thermoelectric power plant.

From the early 1980s, the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) has been developed as a one of the standard tunneling method in Korea. Approximately 10 years ago, wet-mix shotcrete with sodium silicate accelerator (waterglass) was introduced and widely used to tunnel lining and underground support. However, this accelerator had some disadvantages due to the decrease of long-term strength compared to plain concrete (without accelerator) and low quality of the hardened shotcrete. In order to compensate for these disadvantages, recently developed alkali-free accelerator has been successfully demonstrated in numerous projects and applications as a new material to make tunnels more durable and safer. An experimental investigation was carried out in order to verify the strength behavior of wet-mix Steel Fiber Reinforced Shotcrete (SFRS) with alkali-free accelerator. Compressive strength, flexural strength and equivalent flexural strength were measured by testing specimens extracted from the shotcrete panels. From the results, wet-mix SFRS with alkali-free accelerator exhibited excellent strength improvement compared to the conventional shotcrete accelerator.

The erection method of starter for cable stayed bridge was changed from conventional bracket supported erection to heavy lifting supported directly by stays. There was the need to reduce the erection time drastically. The cost saving was obtained as a bonus.
