    The works of defence reliability have begun since the ILS team was organized in ROKA on March 2003. After that DAPA was opened at January 1st 2006 and those of defence reliability were reinforced. But the present of defence reliability is not enough. Many development and changes are required in the following area. The first is Master-plan making of defence reliability, and the second is making of the process of reliability. And then we have to enhance reliability of weapon system in the operation and support phase. The last is that policy is firmly executed among the defence organizations.

    In 2000, US Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) released the status of reliability requirement levels and achievements for the military equipment which evaluated through the operational tests from 1985 to 1990 and from 1996 to 2000. The rates of military equipments that do not meet reliability requirements are 59% from 1985 to 1990 and 80% from 1996 to 2000. Thus, the US Army has figured out causes, taken steps and put them into practice, This paper is about the recent reliability problems and the latest tendency about US military equipment to acquirere liability level.

    This paper deals with (s, S) spare part inventory model. Maintaining appropriate spare parts is one of the most important military affairs related to the readiness of military forces. In the problem under consideration, a military unit possesses n equipments and all the n equipments should be in operational readiness for the military purpose. The lifetime distribution of a part has been assumed to be exponential. This paper suggests the reorder point and order quantity under the assumption that the lifetime distribution of a part is weibull.

    The accelerated life tests(ALTs) and degradation characteristics of image intensifier assembly(KIT-7) under low illuminance and high temperature were investigated. The accelerated life tests were carried out at $5{\times}10^5\;fc-40^{\circ}C,\;10{\times}10^5\;fc-40^{\circ}C,\;5{\times}10^5\;fc-50^{\circ}C,\;10{\times}10^5\;fc-50^{\circ}C$ and relationship related to illuminance and temperature was used as an accelerated life test model. An ALTA program[6] was used to calculate an acceleration factor and the test of life distribution fit, and estimate three parameters of an life test model. To sum up, MTTF 10,000 h at $5{\times}10^{-5}\;fc-40^{\circ}C$ of image intensifier assembly was certificated.
