  • This study examined the fitness of a path model for the relationship among the perceived health status, pain, sleep pattern, and quality of life in the elderly. The data was collected by questionnaires to 276 elderly in J city. The collected data was analyzed using PASW 18.0(win) and AMOS 18.0(win) program. The model fit indices for the hypothetical model were in good agreement with the recommended levels ($x^2$/DF=1.393, p=.077, GFI=.971, TLI=.983, CFI=.989, RMSEA=.038). Based on the constructed model, the quality of life was influenced directly by the perceived health status, pain and sleep pattern, indirectly by the perceived health status and pain. Pain was influenced directly by the perceived health status, and sleep pattern was influenced directly by pain. These results highlight the need for the development of intervention strategies for the promotion of perceived health status in the elderly to improve the quality of life.

  • The aim of this study was to examine whether health promoting behavior was dependent on perceived health status and health attitude in adults, and whether health concern mediated the relationships among these variables. Structural equation modeling was applied to test a model in which perceived health status and health attitude were considered as exogenous variables while health concern as a mediating variable. The participants were 292 adults aged from 20 to 59 and completed the self-report measures. The results of the structural equation model showed that perceived health status and health attitude were positively associated with health concern and health promoting behavior. Health concern mediated the relationships between perceived health status and health promoting behavior, and also health attitude and health promoting behavior. The findings suggest that enhancing health attitude may play important roles to promote health promoting behavior in adults, and the development of various health education for adults in schools, work place, and health and medical organization might promote positive health attitude and health concern. Health education program in connection with preventive health examination also might contribute to activate health promoting behavior.

This study collected data from June 1 to June 15, 2018 for 135 nurses working in five hospitals in the city of B. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 program with technical statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. As a result of the study, it was found that the health promoting behavior of the nurses according to general characteristics were significantly different according to the exercise status. Nurses' fatigue was 4.50 point out of seven point, perceived health status were 2.76 out of five, and health promoting behavior was 2.09 out of four. Perceived health status and health promoting behavior (r=.408, p<.001) has a static correlation, fatigue and health promoting behavior (r=-.301, p<.001) and fatigue and perceived health status (r=-.416, p<.001) were negatively correlated. A significant factor affecting health promoting behavior is the perceived health status (${\beta}=.355$, p<.001) and exercise status (${\beta}=-.328$, p<.001). Therefore, in order to improve nurse health promoting behavior, strategic programs are needed for correct perception of health and exercise.

The subjects consisted of 231 older adults (91 male, 140 female) by convenience sampling residing in city D. The collected dates were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, Tukey HSD, and simple regression analysis by SPSS WIN 21.0 program. Moreover, all statistical significance level was set at a=.05. The study results were as follows: Analysis of variance showed that exercise self-efficacy showed significant differences according to the stage of change for exercise behaviors, and as a result of the posthoc analysis, it was found that as the stage became higher, their exercise self-efficacy became higher as well. Perceived health status showed significant differences according to the stage of change for exercise behaviors, and as a result of the posthoc analysis, it was found that as the stage became higher, their perceived health status became higher as well. Analysis of variance showed that exercise self-efficacy and perceived health status were significantly associated with the stages of exercise behavior change. This study identified that exercise self-efficacy and perceived health status were significant variables to explain a possible relationship with exercise stages of older adults. This study provides new information to influence the development of the better health promotion and exercise intervention for older adults in the community.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to compare the nutritional risk, health status and depression levels of young-old (65-74 years) and old-old (75-84 years) women on low-income. Methods: A total of 624 elderly women, each over 65 years of age, participated in this study under the auspices of a community social center. Data were collected from June to August 2011 by means of personal interviews which employed questionnaires. The research tools used in this study were the nutritional risk measuring Mini Nutritional Assesment (MNA) by Kim (2000), perceived health status developed by Lawton et al. (1982), Elderly Depression Criterion developed by Sheikh & Yesavage (1985). The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 12.0 Program. Results: Nutritional risk, perceived health status and depression levels showed a significant difference between young-old and old-old. There was a positive correlation between nutritional risk and depression and a negative correlation between nutritional risk and perceived health status. A 38.2% variance in depression levels of young-old and a 29.7% variance in depression levels of old-old were explained by perceived health status, nutritional risk and the number of people living together. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate variances in depression levels among low - income women differing in age. As a result, the outcomes of this study ought to be employed in the development of future programs aimed at promoting the health of elderly women.
