Empirical study on Business Ethics in Korea: with Emphasis on Marketing (한국기업의 윤리의식 및 행동에 관한 실증연구 -마켓팅을 중심으로-)

  • This study explores the general marketing ethics among Koreans and helps us understand bu such as bribery, unfair price increases, and so on. By examining msiness ethics in Korea. Based on a scenario approach, we focus on the ethical problems developed or identified from previous research in the western countries. We find that the people in our sample perceive the relative seriousness of ethics problemsarketing-related ethical issues, first we find the differences in how the young and old recognize business ethics. Specifically the younger generation in Korea shows less ethical reaction in general because they have not developed a long-term perspective. Moreover the older generation shows less ethical attitude towards bribery. Second, we confirm the findings in Zey-Ferrell et al (1991) that all individuals think they are more ethical than others. We also discuss other demographic variables related issues that might affect the business ethics in Korea.

A Study on the Policy Formation Process of Research Ethics System: Focusing on the United States (연구윤리제도의 형성과정에 관한 연구: 미국을 중심으로)

  • Korea is striving to establish a research ethics system, but there is still a disagreement as to the level of government involvement in research ethics. Therefore, this study analyzed the formation process of research ethics system in the United States and sought to derive implications for Korea's research ethics policy. The analysis of the present status of the research ethics policy and laws of the United States showed that i) the establishment of regulatory system is done only after the principles of the research ethics or the guideline are presented first in the academic fields; ii) the responsibility for research ethics is to be shared by the federal government and the research institute, and the primary responsibility for research is given to the research institute and the secondary responsibility to the government; iii) the government has imposed a minimum extent of strong regulation on unethical research; and iv) it is necessary to extend the responsibility of unethical research from the individual level to the structural level.

  • 윤리란 인간이면 누구나 지켜야 할 도리를 말하며, 비 윤리라 함은 정상적인 범주를 벗어나는 행위를 지칭한다. 문제는 사람에 따라서 정상의 범위가 다르다는 점이다. 사람마다 저마다의 가치관이 있고 자라온 배경이 있기에 윤리적이냐 비윤리적이냐의 기준이 때론 모호할 수가 있다고 본다. 대다수의 종교인들은 변하지 않는 윤리적기준이 있다고 믿기에 다분히 절대주의적 관점을 가지고 있으며 상황주의자들은 이 세상에 절대란 존재하지 않으며 상황에 따라 얼마든지 선악의 기준이 달라질 수 있다고 신봉하고 있다. 우리는 이러한 다양한 사람들이 함께 사는 세상에서 모두가 공감할 수 있는 윤리적 기준을 모색하여 이를 공유함으로써 적절한 윤리적 가이드라인을 만들어 내는 것이 시급한 일이라 생각된다.

  • 인터넷의 발달과 함께 고도의 정보화 시대가 도래하면서 정보통신사회에서 윤리적인 문제가 새로운 사회적 문제로 대두되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 정보통신 윤리의 정의를 살펴보고, 정보통신사회와 윤리의 관계를 통하여 컴퓨터 기술발달에 따른 정보사회의 윤리적 문제점들을 지적하고, 인터넷 도래 이후 정보통신 윤리 확립을 위한 사회적 대응 방안과 함께 바람직한 정보통신사회를 위한 변화된 정보윤리강령의 특징과 체계화된 윤리강령의 중요성과 필요성을 제시한다.

A review of research on biomedical ethics of nursing college students (간호대학생의 생명의료윤리에 관한 문헌연구)

  • This study attempted to review the research on biomedical ethics of nursing students published in Korea. Keywords included 'nursing students', and 'biomedical ethics', and a total of 26 studies were collected via databases such as KISS, NDSL, RISS. The biomedical ethics awareness was the main concept of biomedical ethics, consisted of right to life of fetus, artificial insemination, organ transplantation, and so on. There were differences in biomedical ethics awareness by ethical education experience, grade, clinical practice experience, and ethical education willingness to attend. Also, major keywords analysed with biomedical ethics were withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment, critical thinking, sexual attitude, nursing professionalism, and death perception. Study results can be used to provide basic data for preparing nursing ethics education in the future.

Current Status and Teachers' Perception About Research Ethics Education and Creating Ethical Research Environment for Gifted Students in Science (과학영재를 위한 연구윤리교육 및 윤리적 연구환경조성의 현황과 이에 대한 영재담당 교사들의 인식 조사)

  • In this study, we surveyed the 68 teachers from eight science high school and four science academy for the gifted through questionnaires about research ethics education and ethical research environment in Korea. First, we examined the current state of research ethics education. Half of the responding schools included research ethics education in their curriculum. Although only half of the schools have this in their curriculum, more than half of the total number of teachers surveyed personally taught research ethics in class, and almost 90% of the teachers said they taught the research ethics during students' research activity. However, 63.24% of teachers said that research ethics education was not enough still. Second, we investigated the ethical research environment. In terms of knowledge and experience, the teachers were competent, and they were creating an environment that enabled peers and self-verification. However, research ethics, regulations and verification systems are not well equipped in schools. Since the principals are highly interested in research ethics education, there seems to be enough improvement on the ethical research environment. Finally, teachers said that additional research ethics education, change in student attitude, development and continuous maintenance of the verification system, encouragement to develop ethical environment, and clear guidelines were needed for ethical research of students. The result of this research will be able to provide the following. First, it will help set up a direction for research ethics education at every gifted school. Second, it will provide insights on how schools and teachers can create an ethical research environment for the students of science-gifted students.

A New Model for Codes of Ethics for Librarians of South Korea (한국의 사서직 윤리규정 방향 제안)

  • In this knowledge-based society of this age, librarianship takes a professional position and requires essential principles of ethics that has to be observed. Therefore, library associations and professional communities all over the world have released criteria and code of ethics to make their professional positions to keep. This research investigated and analyzed the codes of ethics for librarians in United States, Great Britain, Japan, and South Korea which are based on the mission of each library of each country. Based on these analysis and comparison, this research proposed more advanced codes of ethics for South Korea. The proposed model of codes of ethics consists of two parts: ethics for information and ethics for professional positions. The ethics for information contains six essential elements: equal access and services for information, denial of inspection, protection of privacy, neutralization of librarian, and security of intellectual freedom. The ethics for professional positions consists of 8 essential aspects: exclusion of personal benefit, continuous efforts for developing knowledge, keep the professional position, conflicts between professional task and organization, relationship with co-workers, ensure the conditions of rights and welfare for employees, cooperations among libraries, and contribution for creation of new culture.

A study of the effect analysis and development of informatics ethics education program based on subject integrations (교과융합 정보윤리교육 프로그램의 개발과 효과 분석)

  • As the science and technology advances, the side effects of information and communications technology use become a social issue and the social demands to strengthen the informatics ethics in the curriculum of elementary and secondary schools becomes great. The contents of informatics ethics education is included in the current curriculum for elementary and secondary school, but they are embedded in multiple subjects without the holistic guidelines for the informatics ethics curriculum. Therefore it can have duplications of the contents or missing among subjects as those subjects are elective in the secondary school. In this study, we proposed a holistic curriculum for informatics ethics education and developed the education program based on subject integrated curriculum model and the cyber internet ethics education model to solve problems of informatics ethics education. The program was practised for 291 students of $10^{th}$ graders for 5 months and effectiveness was proven by the high attainment of ethics understanding. This subject integrated education program is proposed to solve the structural problems of informatics ethics education in 2015 curriculum.

An Ethical Dilemma and Unethical Behavior of Information Sharing by Information Asymmetry Level (정보비대칭 수준에 따른 정보공유의 윤리적 딜레마와 비윤리적 행동에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the unethical information sharing by information asymmetry. I will confirm the effect of ethical dilemma, unethical intention and behavior by the information asymmetry. A research method used the structural equations. The analysis showed causal relationship that ethical dilemma and unethical intention and behaviors by the information sharing. In particular, The ethical dilemma by position level showed different from the factor between dilemma and intention. As a result, the organization should manage differently ethical issue according to position level. The contribution in this study has expended an interpretation scope of broken windows theory from social science and explained a discriminative management of the ethical dilemma by position level from the practical view. A Future study should investigate an unethical behavior reduce by information security systems.

  • 천문학회에서는 천문학의 발전을 위해 학회원들이 지켜야할 책무를 준수하고 서로를 신뢰하고 존중하여 자유로운 연구환경을 마련하는데 노력하는 것을 목적으로 연구윤리, 성희롱, 각종 차별 등 도덕윤리를 포함한 새로운 윤리강령을 제정할 계획으로 있으며 현재 윤리 TF 팀이 구성되어 일하고 있다. 전반적 윤리강령이 필요하게 된 배경, 취지, 그리고 필요성에 대해 간략하게 설명하고 참가자들의 의견을 청취하려 한다.
