In 1961, the Republic of Korea's first newly-constructed government building was completed. The government building, as ROK office, was erected as a twin with the USOM office in Sejong-ro. The reason why the ROK office and the USOM office were erected as a twin building is that the two offices were part of Foreign Operation Administration's Seoul Buildings Project in 1954. Within the project, the FOA office and the ROK office were rarely separated, and naturally, the ROK office was built according to the US standards. The planning, design, and construction phases which led by the US government were involved in the US architecture, engineering-construction companies. Because those AEC companies were familiar with the US technology and standards. In the phase of construction, Korean companies took part in the process under the supervise of Vinnell Corporation. The US expected to transfer its 'modern' and 'developed' technology through this process. The completed ROK office was widely known as the 'modern style (hyundae-sik)' building, which was body forth as glasses and new facilities. These factors were what the US emphasized for exporting architecture. The modifier, 'modern style (hyundae-sik)', given to the ROK office in the 1950s was a synonym for any new feeling that had never been seen hitherto. The newness of the ROK office, the 'modern style (hyundae-sik)' building, was specified as materials and facilities that indicates modern technology while in the absence of adequate knowledge.
Early 20th century Singapore was faced with the problem of overcrowding. The attendant problems of a rapid increase in population density, namely the lack of proper housing and sanitation, resulted in the issue of an appropriate residential environment emerging as an important task in urban planning. It was necessary to construct housing estates in order to solve this issue. At that time, the British colonial government attempted to transplant modern technology into the construction process of a residential complex system. However, Singapore's climate and traditional lifestyle made it impossible to apply the British modern system in a straightforward manner, and in the process, a number of transformations emerged. With a specific focus on the Tiong Bahru estate, one of Singapore's representative public housing projects, from the 1930s through the 1950s, this study intends to look at the way in which such residential estates were assimilated into local surroundings, and the effect of the transplantation of British concepts of modern housing theory. Therefore, the study is divided into an examination of the estate both before and after the turning point of World War II. This study confirms that the difference between the pre-war and post-war planning strategies for the Tiong Bahru estate were made according to the concept of 'open space.'
For the proper preservation and utilisation of Regional Modern Heritage Buildings, it is necessary to study the history of local modern architecture based on a broad understanding of the region and also to architectural history. The aim of this study is expand the awareness and multi-faceted interpretation of modern architecture in Kwangju in the 1940's to 1950's, by exploring the origin of regional modern architecture from new perspectives. As a part of the discussions of the perspectives, this study will be therefore explained with the regional correlations between the architect Kim Han-seop's works and activity, influential politicians, strong enthusiasm of education, architectural characteristics of the main building of Chosun University, architecture schools and association in Kwangju. Then, it will be finalised that Kim Han-seop and the main building of Chosun University are directly and indirectly correlated and affected each other strongly.
Since its introduction in"Jeungbosallimgyeongje" in the mid-1700s, Chogyetang has continuously changed as a cooked food while still reflecting the era as in the following four phases. In the first phase from 1766 to 1920, Chogyetang was served as a hot pot dish consisting of boiled chicken with spring onions, vinegar, soy sauce, oil, and egg. The second phase from 1930 to 1950 involved the removal of vinegar, an important seasoning. Instead, a wider variety of materials such as beef, sea cucumber, abalone, cucumber, and mushroom were added. Third, from the late-1950s to 1980s, there were significant changes both in the materials and recipe. Chogyetang was changed into a cold food for consumption in the summer in which sesame, a new material, was added to make soup. The prepared soup was then poured over the chicken and vegetables. Fourth, from the late-1980s to the present, sesame, the main ingredient added in the third phase, was removed. Instead, vinegar, mustard, and sugar were added in order to increase taste. Therefore, Chogyetang has been changed into an a la carte menu item in which vegetables and noodles are added to boiled chicken, and it has become a popular summer food consumed when eating-out.

The field of information science has been documented in several ways during its existence and in some ways has mirrored that of other scientific disciplines during the same period. This article examines variables related to author gender of information science articles in American Documentation (AD) during its entire run, 1950 through 1969. Published by the American Documentation Institute, AD was a primary information science journal of its time, changing its name in 1970 to the Journal of the American Society for Information Science (JASIS), corresponding with the change of the parent organization's name to the American Society for Information Science (1968). AD was preceded by an earlier "information science" publication, the Journal of Documentary Reproduction (JDR), 1938-1942, issued by the American Library Association. Studies indicate that females contributed about 8% for the entire run of articles in JDR (1938-1942) and about 22% for the first twenty-seven years of JASIS (1970-1996). The present study explores the nature of female contributions to AD for the middle period (1950-1969). It has been determined that for the entire run of the journal under the name AD, female authors comprised about 17% of the contributors, which places their publishing percentage for this period between the earlier and later periods, thus expectedly filling the gap.

In the beginning of the 1930's. Le Corbusier's new attention turned toward the local conditions of construction, which can be associated with the prevailing sprit of regionalism and vernaculaire culture. What especially concerns us here is the reference that Le Corbusier makes to vernacular architecture, which we have seen to be the soure of his late houses. During the 1950's, with the United' habitation and the Jaoul houses, Le Corbusier ushered in a new housing trend onto the scene. noteworthy for its use of raw materials and for its opposition to the international style.
This research was undertaken to examine Masan's regional food service industry, which experienced drastic changes due to liberation and the Korean war. Analysis of restaurant advertisements in 'Masanilbo' revealed a total of 92 restaurants during this period. The numbers of restaurants classified by the time periods are 18 (1946 to 1950), 27 (1951 to 1955), 17 (1956 to 1960), and 30 (1961 to 1966). 'Gomguk' gained popularity in the early 1900s and became a speciality of Masan, resulting in the appearance of numerous Gomguk restaurant advertisements. After independence, Japanese foods were predominant in Masan since the population was used to eating Japanese dishes during the colonial era. Moreover, there was a major influence of the people who returned to the homeland. Masan was the place for refugees during the 6.25 war, resulting in the popularity of 'Naengmyeon'; advertisements largely displayed 'Pyeongyangnaengmyeon' during the early 1950s, and 'Hamheungnaengmyeon' during the early 1960s. Western food advertisements usually introduced 'Dongaseu' and 'Kareraiseu', which were deeply influenced by Japanese culture. These various contributions resulted in alterations in the food menu, such as the rise of fusion food which is not bound to any nation, spread of Japanese food culture, and popularity of 'Naengmyeon'.
During the 1950s, the North Koreans rebuilt their capital-Pyongyang-as a modern city under the principle of Soviet urban design. One North Korean architect, Kim Jung-hee, has been widely credited since the late 1980s as the master architect of the General Plan of the city's reconstruction. While Kim Jung-hee played a crucial role in its reconstruction, his heroic image as the founding architect of Pyongyang is considerably attributed to North Korea's mythical narratives rather than his historical activities. This paper argues that Pyongyang's postwar urban design was not a work made by a single actor, Kim Jung-hee; rather, it was a long-term collaborative project in which a team of North Korean architects and Soviet technical advisors took their respective roles. Beginning in the late 1980s, North Korea, which had been struggling with economic decline and an increasing sense of lagging behind in its rivalry with its Southern counterpart, used heroic narratives during the 1950s' postwar reconstruction period as an important propaganda tool for their regime. In this mythical narrative of Pyongyang's reconstruction, massive economic and technical aid from other communist countries has often disappeared, and the memory of the architects who contributed greatly to the reconstruction but later purged in North Korea have also completely vanished. Kim Jung-hee, meanwhile, remained in this epic as the founding architect who rebuilt the city in faithful accordance with the leadership of Kim Il Sung.
Our vision is to see the North and there is a large visual target that the two exchanges and cooperation and unity that put the main enemy of enemies in mind in need. North Korea is the main enemy was illegal invasion June 25, 1950 July 27, 1953 has continued after the armistice join the illegal provocations and cease fire violations so far. August 4, 2015, North Korea was operating by the power differential that operate on an all-out war and declared the initial state after the exhibition gave another provocative DMZ wood box mines. US-ROK military was in the process of real-time detection of the North Korean power operation and the results were broadcast live through the media. Looking at these military provocations on the threat of asymmetrical power of North Korea's military threat, we would like to present how to respond.
