  • ASRP(Ammunition Stockpile Reliability Program) Data is stored and operated in the field of evaluating the ammunition is not only the only field data but also the ammunition performance-oriented data can determine objectively the power of the artillery. However, ASRP has been used as a yardstick to judge the status of ammunitions stockpiled in the field. On the other hand re-evaluation of the accumulated data and in-depth research have not been carried out. A Study on the Effective Management of Artillery Ammunition using ASRP data suggests how to utilize the ASRP data to analyze and manage existing artillery forces whose focus is centered on increasing the performance of artillery ammunitions through setting the test intervals of deployed stockpiled ammunitions, forecasting the shelf-life of ammunitions, and analyzing the effectiveness of the military strength through modelling and simulation.

  • Limitations on human and material resources make it is difficult to conduct Ammunition Stockpile Reliability Program (ASRP) tasks for the entire ammunition. Stockpile ammunition life prediction studies can contribute to efficient ASRP tasks. This study assess the shelf-life of ammunition, using survival analysis based on ASRP results for 60mm and 81mm mortar ammunition from 2003 to 2016. Traditional assessments often use solely storage duration as the only main independent variable; however, this assessment used other factors such as ammunition magazine shape and weather factors with the stockpile shelf-life as independent variables to conduct a Cox's proportional hazard model analysis. This was then followed by an assessment of ammunition magazine type, maximum temperature and rainfall factors influence on the shelf-life of 60mm and 81mm mortar ammunition. As a result, the type of ammunition magazine, maximum temperature and the rainfall influence the shelf-life of 60mm and 81mm mortar ammunition.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide a statistical method from the data of ASRP's results and to apply to the reliability assessment of 155mm propelling charge, KM4A2. Methods: The accumulated data through ASRP for 155mm propelling charge were analyzed using regression analysis and MINITAB reliability analysis. The analysis methods used for this study were applied to statistical data types such as continuous data, binominal data. Results: The results of this study are as follows; The failure of 155mm propelling charge is mainly due to the broken charge bag, the decline of stabilizer content. The shelf-life(B5) regarding broken charge bag is 21.1years. The stabilizer content decrease with 0.0227%/year and safety storage period of propellant is 34.6years. Conclusion: The shelf-life of 155mm propelling charge determined by charge bag is estimated 21.1years.

  • The ASRP(Ammunition Stockpile Reliability Program) is a overall evaluation system of ammunitions to improve the combat strength, having a short history. The storage lifetime of ammunitions, more than 20 years since being produced, differs according to storage circumstance and period. And it shows the different reliability for munitions. Because most ammunitions in military have been stored for a long time, these ammunitions need to be evaluated to maintain Serviceability, Reliability, Safety and Performance for the use of military. In this paper, it suggested the need to develop the techniques for ourselves, to make more laboratories for surveillance and testing and to extend research funds & concerns.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the learning speed of an ammunition stockpile reliability classification artificial neural network model by proposing a normalization method that reduces the number of input variables based on the characteristic of Ammunition Stockpile Reliability Program (ASRP) data without loss of classification performance. Ammunition's performance requirements are specified in the Korea Defense Specification (KDS) and Ammunition Stockpile reliability Test Procedure (ASTP). Based on the characteristic of the ASRP data, input variables can be normalized to estimate the lot percent nonconforming or failure rate. To maintain the unitary hypercube condition of the input variables, min-max normalization method is also used. Area Under the ROC Curve (AUC) of general min-max normalization and proposed 2-step normalization is over 0.95 and speed-up for marching learning based on ASRP field data is improved 1.74 ~ 1.99 times depending on the numbers of training data and of hidden layer's node.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to estimate shelf life of fuze MTSQ (Mechanical Time & Super Quick) KM577A1 from Ammunition Stockpile Reliability Program (ASRP) data. Methods: For many years, ammunition test data had been gathered from ASRP. In this study, lot selection criteria and reliability score of functioning time for fuze are proposed. Reliability score of functioning time and failure data are used to estimate shelf life. Results: The results of this study are as follows; The failure modes of fuze MTSQ KM577A1 are dud, inverse function and mechanical time functioning failure (not operating in intended time). Dud and inverse function are major failure modes. Fuze MTSQ KM577A1's shelf life ($B_5$) is estimated 18.2 years conservatively. Conclusion: Degradation of chemical components in fuze MTSQ KM577A1 is major factor for its reliability. And shelf life ($B_5$) of fuze MTSQ KM577A1 is estimated 18.2 years conservatively.

  • To predict the shelf-life of ammunition stockpiled in intermediate have practical meaning as a core value of combat support. This research is to Predict the shelf-life of ammunition by applying time series analysis based on report from ASRP of the 155mm, KD541 performed for 6 years. This study applied time series analysis using 'Mini-tab program' to measure the amount of stabilizer as time passes by is different from the other one that uses regression analysis. The average shelf-life of KD541 drawn by time series analysis was 43 years and the lowest shelf-life assessed on the 95% confidence level was 35 years.

  • Purpose: ASRP for the domestic development guided missiles requires not only for the reliability evaluation of the products in storage but also for the life cycle management of the products including development prototypes and initial production items. Methods: For this purpose, it should be performed to build a performance database before and after the accelerated aging test with shelf life items including development prototypes and initial production items, based on which the lifetime prediction should also be carried out. In addition, HILS must be applied for the acceptance test with the initial and follow-up production items, and also for ASRP for the long-term storage products in order to secure systematic quality assurance. Results: The results for the life cycle reliability Improving of domestic development of guided missiles are DB building of prescription Item performance, active application of HILS, Management associated with guided missiles life cycle and to Secure technology data about the introduction of foreign guided missiles. Conclusion: Furthermore, it is demanded that DTaQ, the managing agency of ASRP, actively take part in the process to maintain reliability engagement consistency over the life cycle of guided missiles.

  • The ASTP is the standard of the assessment ASRP that is monitoring the performance, reliability and safety characteristics of the ammunition items. The ASTP used in domestic now has applied to US Army's grade system and grading criteria so that it cause some problems. To resolve these problems of ASTP, we surveyed both the quality level of production and the field management of ammunition, which compared with grade system and classification criteria. As a result of study, we changed grade system from four steps to three steps and applied the Korean Military Specifications and the Malfunction Criteria to the classification criteria of grades. We are looking forward to improving the reliability and effectiveness of ASRP assessment by simplifying grade system and generalizing grading criteria of ASTP.
