Analysis Of AT Feeding Systems Considering The Voltage Constraint Conditions Of The Pantagraph (팬타그래프 전압제약조건을 고려한 AT급전계통 해석)

  • Constant load model is widely used for an electric train to perform the static analysis of AT (Auto Transformer) feeding systems. In this model, the train will be considered as a constant load model when it drives or as a constant source model when it applies regenerative brake. However there must be some constraints imposed on the pantagraph voltage in actual operations. These constraints are established for the reason of protecting the feeding facilities from excessive rise of regenerative braking voltage or guaranteeing the minimum traction power of train. In normal operating situation, the pantagraph voltage of the train should be maintained within these limits. Keeping these facts in minds, we suggest new methods or analyzing AT feeding systems using the constant power models with the conditions of voltage constraints. The simulation results from a sample system using the proposed method illustrate both the states of system variables and the supply-demand relation of power among the trains and the systems very clearly, so it is believed that the proposed method yields more accurate results than conventional methods do. The proposed methods are believed to contribute to the assessment of TCR-TSC for compensating reactive powers too.

  • The safe operation of electro railways is greatly dependant on its protective systems. The system so-called Fault Protection Wire(FW) is now widely adapted to protect in AT feeding systems. It is connected between the feeder and trolley circuit to return the fault current to autotransfonmers at substation. This paper computed the distribution of fault currents at FW in the system and also evaluated the safety from electric shock when ground fault or flashover occur in the feeding system. The results show FW is useful to protect power supply network from fault in electric railways

Effect of Different Feeding Systems on Carcass and Non-Carcass Parameters of Black Bengal Goat

  • The experiment was conducted to find out the effect of four feeding systems namely; stall feeding, tethering, restricted grazing and grazing on carcass characteristics of Black Bengal goat. Twenty four does of approximately 1 year of age were randomly selected for four treatments of feeding systems having 6 replications in each. Stall fed goats were kept into house all time and adequate amount of natural grass were supplied for ad libitum feeding. Goats of tethering group were tethered for eating natural grass from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and were transferred after one hour interval for changing the grazing place. Goats of restricted grazing group were allowed for grazing from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Goats of grazing group were grazed for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Concentrate supplement was given at the rate of 150 g per day per goat for all of the treatment groups. Goats were slaughtered after the experiment of 219 days. Body length and height at wither were significantly higher in stall feeding group than others. Average dressing percentage were 42.18, 39.0, 36.79 and 34.0 for stall feeding, tethering, restricted grazing and grazing groups, respectively. Dressing percentage varied significantly (p<0.05) among feeding groups. Caul fat and empty gut weight differed significantly (p<0.05) in all of the feeding systems but others non-carcass parameters did not differ significantly. Percentage of dry matter and ether extract were also significantly (p<0.05) higher in stall fed groups. In conclusion, among four treatment groups, performance of stall fed goats were most satisfactory and then tethering showed better performance than any other groups.

  • There are some previous studies that utilize constant impedance models or constant current models for electric trains to perform the static analysis of AT feeding systems. These mentioned models have some merits of linear systems but yield erroneous results because of the innate restraints of the models since linear models cannot represent the features of constant power in inverter-driven trains. From these reasons, it is suitable that the train be considered as a constant load model when it drives or as a constant source model when it applies regenerative brake. However, excessive rise of regenerative voltage during the braking may damage the vehicle itself and the feeding systems so the voltage must be restricted below a certain value. Keeping these facts in minds, we suggest new methods of analyzing AT feeding systems using the constant power models with the conditions of voltage constraints. The simulation results from a sample system using the proposed method illustrate both the states of system variables and the supply-demand relation of power among the trains and the systems very clearly, so it is believed that the proposed method yields more accurate results than conventional methods do.

  • This study introduces cases of individual feeding systems for sow and the sow sorters which are the subparts of an eco-friendly feeding and management system based on a u-IT program using the hog feeding and management information system. The purpose of this study is to conduct an analysis of economic feasibility on cases of the improvement of the system using the u-IT and to provide information on the positive effects of an introduction of an eco-friendly pigsty and hog feeding and management system to hog raisers and government officials. The literature review and background section examine the effects of the introduction of u-IT technology into the field of livestock raising, hog feeding and management information system, and the eco-friendly feeding and management system based on the u-IT. This paper will present the results of the analysis on the effects and the economic feasibility of the individual feeding system for sow and the sow sorter utilizing the u-IT technology and information systems. The results of this study will contribute to the sustainable development of the hog raising industry by showing that the new feeding and management system utilizing the u-IT can not only increase the efficiency and productivity of farm management but also contribute to efficient, eco-friendly hog feeding and management.

  • From the observations of dietary self-selection by growing pullets, step-up protein or reverse protein and single-stage low protein pullet feeding systems were developed. They offered another pullet feeding concept that appears to control the body weight effectively and to reduce the consumption of feed and nutrients without impairment of subsequent laying performance. It is obvious from the feed and nutrient consumption pattern of layers fed diets for self-selection of energy, protein and calcium that they have a daily cyclic requirement rather than a constant requirement for nutrients. It seems that a practical self-selective feeding system is needed to meet the daily cyclic requirement for nutrients without consuming an excess of energy and protein at certain times of the day as compared to the complete or single diet where layers have to consume extra energy and protein in the afternoon when they have a specific appetite mainly for calcium.

The Impact of Crossbred Cows in Mixed Farming Systems in Gujarat, India : Milk Production and Feeding Practices

  • Holstein Friesian and Jersey crossbreds are being widely introduced in the state of Gujarat in India. This paper evaluates feeding practices at farm level and examines whether the crossbreds fit into the existing mixed farm systems. Over a period of four years milk-offtake and feeds offered were recorded for 1331 cows at fortnightly intervals. The breed and the amount of concentrates fed contributed most to the variation in milk offtake. The introduction of crossbred cattle has a major impact on smallholder mixed farming systems. Crossbreds produced, on average, 1.8 times more milk than Desi, Gir, and Kankrej cows. They were fed 1.4 times more concentrates, and about 1.2 times more green and dry feeds than local cows. The major limiting constraint is the quality of the roughages offered. Farmers with crossbreds try to adjust their feeding of concentrates according to the needs of their cows. On tribal farms, local cows produced less milk than on non-tribal farms, whereas crossbreds produced the same amount of milk on both tribal and non-tribal farms. Crossbreds fit into the farming systems of both tribal and non-tribal farmers. The differences in agro-climatic characteristics between different areas in Gujarat were not reflected in differences in milk offtakes.

Effect of Feeding Systems on Feed Intake, Eating Behavior, Growth, Reproductive Performance and Parasitic Infestation of Black Bengal Goat

  • The experiment was conducted to find out the effect of 4 feeding systems on growth, feed intake, eating behavior, lactation performance, gestation period, post-partum heat period, conception rate and parasitic infestation of Black Bengal goat. Twenty four does of approximately 1 year of age were randomly selected for 4 treatment (feeding systems) groups having 6 replications in each. Treatments were stall feeding ($T_1$), tethering ($T_2$), restricted grazing ($T_3$) and grazing ($T_4$). $T_1$ group was housed continuously and adequate amounts of natural grass were supplied for ad libitum feeding. $T_2$ group was tethered for grazing natural grass from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. being moved at one hour intervals. Goats of $T_3$ group were allowed grazing from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. $T_4$ group was grazed from 8 a. m. to 4 p.m. Concentrate supplement was given at the rate of 150 g per day per goat for all of the treatment groups. Duration of experiment was 219 days. Daily live weight gain was significantly (p<0.05) higher in case of stall fed goats than that of others. DM intake also significantly (p<0.05) differed among the treatment groups and was 3.40 3.95, 3.76 and 4.05 per cent of their live weight for stall feeding, tethering, restricted grazing and grazing groups, respectively. Rate of rumination was significantly (p<0.05) higher in case of tethering group of goats than that of others. Birth weight of kids, milk yield, lactation period and post-partum heat period were significantly higher in case of stall fed goats than others. Tethering group showed significantly (p<0.05) higher litter size than others. Infestation rate of Fasciola was significantly (p<0.05) higher in the grazing group. In conclusion, it may be stated that among these feeding groups overall performance of stall fed goats was more satisfactory, and that the tethering group showed better performance than the others.

A Study on the Application of State Estimation Method to the Electric Railway Feeding Systems (전철 급전계통에서 상태추정기법 적용에 관한 연구)

  • State estimation is to estimate the values of the states that minimize the error between the real states and the measured states, which are usually hampered by noise. It exploits the redundant data and the equality constraints achieved from the power systems. In the electric railway feeding systems, especially, the measured states may have significant level of noise in comparison with the commercial power systems. Since the meters - the sources of the data that include vehicles - are distributed in the long distance along the railroad, they are vulnerable to the signal interference. In this paper we have studied the application of state estimation method to the AT feeding systems and shown that this method can increase the reliability of the measured data.
