Development of Mock Control Devices and Data Acquisition Apparatus for Power Tiller Training Simulator

  • Training power tiller operators in safe farming is necessary to avoid farming accidents. With the continuing progress in computational technology, driving simulators have become increasingly popular for conducting such training. Purpose: The objective of this study is to develop mock control devices and data acquisition apparatus for a tiller simulator. Methods: Except for the stand and tail wheel adjusting levers, the mock control devices were developed using a tiller handle assay. The data acquisition apparatus was realized using an embedded data-logging device and LabVIEW, the system design software. Results: The control devices of a real handle assay were successfully mimicked by the mock operator control devices, which used sensors for the relevant measurements. The data from the mock devices were acquired and transmitted to the main computer at intervals of 10 ms via Wi-Fi. Conclusions: The developed mock control devices operate similar to real power tillers and can be utilized in power tiller training simulators.

  • This paper describes a fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) system developed for the heat source apparatus in building air-conditioning system. As HVAC&R systems in building become complex and instrumented with highly automated controllers, the processes and systems get more difficult for the operator to understand and detect the mal-functions. Poorly maintained, degraded, and improperly controlled equipment wastes an estimated 15% to 30% of energy used in commercial building. When operating a complex facility, FDD system is beneficial in equipment management to provide the operator with tools which can help in decision making for recovery from a failure of the system. Automated FDD for HVAC&R system has the potential to reduce energy and maintenance costs and improves comfort and reliability. Over the last decade there has been considerable research for developing FDD system for HVAC&R equipment. However, they are being made too much of a theoretical study, so only a small of FDD methods are deployed in the field. This study deduced an actual defect source for the heat source apparatus and suggested a low price FDD method which is ready to be deployed in the field.

  • This paper analyzed the process of text generation of the fan-made works in Korean idol. The subjects of the study adopted the fan-made works of 'BTS' and 'EXO'. This is applied the concepts of 'Apparatus-Operator' and 'Technical form' in Vilém Flusser. Idol contents build a database of fan-made works and create the storyworld through separation and integration of fan's interpretations. By decontextualizing and recontextualizing the idol contents, fans reinforce and extend the original texts.

  • Among many tests to verify the characteristics of power system apparatus, the short circuit test is performed to verify the performance characteristics of the apparatus under the short-circuited power system. The verification of the short-circuit performance is inevitable for the reliability of power system and the safety of the operator around. The short circuit performance test requires the suitable power source and Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute has 4000 MVA, 500 MVA short circuit generators for the short circuit performance test. This paper will study on the parameters of short-circuit generator and the estimation of them.

  • Human Adaptive Mechatronics(HAM) is a new concept which was proposed in our university's research project sponsored by Japanese Ministry of Education, Sports, Culture, Science and Technology(MEXT), and is defined as "intelligent mechanical systems that adapt themselves to the user's skill under various environments, assist to improve the user's skill, and assist the human-machine system to achieve best performance". In this paper, the concept and key-items of HAM are mentioned. And the control strategy to realize a HAM human-machine system is explained in the case of physical-interface system, i.e. haptic system. The proposed assist-control of a force-feedback type haptic system includes online estimation of a operator's control characteristics, and a `force assist' function implemented as a change in the support ratio according to the identified skill level. We developed a HAM-haptic device test system, executed evaluation experiments with this apparatus, and analyzed the measured data. It was confirmed that the operator's skill could be estimated and that operator's performance was enhanced by the assist-control.

  • Until now, the electrical monitoring system had been used of the Graphic-Mosaic panel, which is located to the cellar at the apartment complex. it was inappropriated to man-power and system-organization at apartment complex. for that reason, in this paper IMS is presented. An Intelligent Monitoring System can provide and explanation of real-time opera- state of an electric power apparatus to its operators in apartment complex. IMS is proposed as a model for integration supervisory system whose primary tasks are to communicate line data with host-computer and slave-controller it is based on a generalized version of use-career and a trouble shoot knowledge base for diagnostic problem solving. to operate it, both of controller and its operator-view is deigned by the real-tune O.S TREND 940.

  • Rapid prototyping (RP) technologies are mainly performed by layered manufacturing (LM) process which manufactures 3D physical objects by depositing 2D sections in a direction. Thus, deformations are apt to occur in overhanging area of the RP processed part. Also, excessive adhesion between part and platform of the RP apparatus is generated. In order to prevent these problems, most of the RP technologies adopt support structure. Main element to support a part in the support structure is strand. In actual field, however, the number of strand is determined by the software operating reference guide or RP system operator's experience. In this paper, a methodology to determine the optimal strand spacing is presented through experiments and measurements for the SL part deformation by change of strand spacing and part weight in the support structure of the stereolithography.

  • To apply induction hardening method to a press die having 3-D free surface, the induction hardening tool moves on a press die above 1~2mm gap with constant velocity. Since the induction hardening process requires its own hardening path for each die, a direct teaching method which generates working path directly guided by operators is more suitable than an offline method using CAD/CAM data.   • The existing remote control system have some inherent disadvantage of direct control in the limit range. In some special cases, for example, a power apparatus, an unmanned factory, a nuclear factory, a security management system, the tele-operation is needed to control remote robot without limit space. This field is based on the Internet communication. Because the Internet is constructed all over the world. And it is possible that we control remote mobile robot in the long distance. In this paper, we developed a remote control system. This system is divided into two primary parts. These are local site and remote site. There are the moving robot and web server in the remote site and there is the robot control device in local site. The moving robot is moved by two stepper motors and the robot control device consists of SA-1100 micro controller and embedded Linux. And this controller is an embedded system. Public personal computer which is connected the Internet is used for the web server. The web server provides the mobile robot control interface program to the remote controller and captures the image for feedback information. In the whole system, a robot control device is connected with moving robot and web server through the Internet. So the operator can control the moving robot in the distance through the Internet.

  • The objective of this study is to determine the dominance effects of environmental factors such as Illuminance, humidity and Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) on the operators' productivity at Malaysian electronic industry. A case study was carried out at an electronic components assembly factory. The environmental factors examined were the Illuminance (lux), humidity and WBGT of the surrounding workstation area. Two sets of representative data including the illuminance, humidity and WBGT level and production rate were collected during the study. The production rate data were collected through observations and survey questionnaires while the illuminance level was measured using photometer model RS 180-7133, the humidity and WBGT level were measured by using Quest Temp apparatus and humidity. Taguchi Method was utilized to find the sequence of dominant factors that contributed to the productivity of operator at that specified production workstation. The study reveals that the dominant factor contributed to the productivity was WBGT, followed by illuminance and humidity.
