This paper proposes a defect cell extraction algorithm for TFT-LCD auto-repair system. Auto defect search algorithm and automatic defect cell extraction method are very important for TFT-LCD auto repair system. In the previous literature[1], we proposed an automatic visual inspection algorithm of TFT-LCD. Based on the inspected information(defect size and defect axis, if defect exists) by the automatic search algorithm, defect cells should be extracted from the input image for the auto repair system. For automatic extraction of defect cells, we used a novel block matching algorithm and a simple filtering process in order to find a given reference point in the LCD cell. The proposed defect cell extraction algorithm can be used in all kinds of TFT-LCD devices by changing a stored template which includes a given reference point. Various experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This study aims to develop algorithms for automatic extraction landmarks from the lower body of women aged 20-54 using the Grasshopper programming language, based on 3D scan data in the 8th SizeKorea dataset. First, 11 landmarks were defined using the morphological features of 3D body surfaces and clothing applications, from which automatic landmark extraction algorithms were developed. To verify the accuracy of the algorithm, this study developed an additional algorithm that could automatically measure 16 items, and algorithm-derived measurements and SizeKorea measurements were compared using paired t-test analysis. The statistical differences between the scan-derived measurements and the SizeKorea measurements were compared, with an allowable tolerance of ISO 20685-1:2018. This study found that the algorithm successfully identified most items except for the crotch point and gluteal fold point. In the case of landmarks with significant differences, the algorithms were modified. This study was significant because scan editing, landmark search, and measurement extraction were successfully performed in one interface, and the developed algorithm has a high efficiency and strong adaptability.
We present an effective algorithm for automatic tracing of retinal vessel structure and vascular landmark extraction of bifurcations and ending points. In this paper we deal with vascular patterns from RGB images for personal identification. Vessel tracing algorithms are of interest in a variety of biometric and medical application such as personal identification, biometrics, and ophthalmic disorders like vessel change detection. However eye surface vasculature tracing in RGB images has many problems which are subject to improper illumination, glare, fade-out, shadow and artifacts arising from reflection, refraction, and dispersion. The proposed algorithm on vascular tracing employs multi-stage processing of ten-layers as followings: Image Acquisition, Image Enhancement by gray scale retinal image enhancement, reducing background artifact and illuminations and removing interlacing minute characteristics of vessels, Vascular Structure Extraction by connecting broken vessels, extracting vascular structure using eight directional information, and extracting retinal vascular structure, and Vascular Landmark Extraction by extracting bifurcations and ending points. The results of automatic retinal vessel extraction using jive different thresholds applied 34 eye images are presented. The results of vasculature tracing algorithm shows that the suggested algorithm can obtain not only robust and accurate vessel tracing but also vascular landmarks according to thresholds.

In this study, we propose an automatic melody extraction algorithm using deep learning. In this algorithm, feature images, generated using the energy of frequency band, are extracted from polyphonic audio files and a deep learning technique, a convolutional neural network (CNN), is applied on the feature images. In the training data, a short frame of polyphonic music is labeled as a musical note and a classifier based on CNN is learned in order to determine a pitch value of a short frame of audio signal. We want to build a novel structure of melody extraction, thus the proposed algorithm has a simple structure and instead of using various signal processing techniques for melody extraction, we use only a CNN to find a melody from a polyphonic audio. Despite of simple structure, the promising results are obtained in the experiments. Compared with state-of-the-art algorithms, the proposed algorithm did not give the best result, but comparable results were obtained and we believe they could be improved with the appropriate training data. In this paper, melody extraction and the proposed algorithm are introduced first, and the proposed algorithm is then further explained in detail. Finally, we present our experiment and the comparison of results follows.
This paper describes an implementation of linear feature extraction algorithms for satellite images and a method of automatic GCP(Ground Control Point) filing using the extracted linear feature. We propose a new linear feature extraction algorithm which uses magnitude and direction information of edges. The result of applying the proposed algorithm to satellite images are presented and compared with those of the other algorithms. By using the proposed algorithm, automatic GCP filing was successfully performed.

We describe in this paper a hardware-based improvement scheme of a real-time automatic speech recognition (ASR) system with respect to speed by designing a parallel feature extraction algorithm on a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). A computationally intensive block in the algorithm is identified implemented in hardware logic on the FPGA. One such block is mel-frequency cepstrum coefficient (MFCC) algorithm used for feature extraction process. We demonstrate that the FPGA platform may perform efficient feature extraction computation in the speech recognition system as compared to the generalpurpose CPU including the ARM processor. The Xilinx Zynq-7000 System on Chip (SoC) platform is used for the MFCC implementation. From this implementation described in this paper, we confirmed that the FPGA platform is approximately 500× faster than a sequential CPU implementation and 60× faster than a sequential ARM implementation. We thus verified that a parallelized and optimized MFCC architecture on the FPGA platform may significantly improve the execution time of an ASR system, compared to the CPU and ARM platforms.
Steel slabs are marked with slab management numbers (SMNs). To increase efficiency, automated identification of SMNs from digital images is desirable. Automatic extraction of SMNs is a prerequisite for automatic character segmentation and recognition. The images include complex background, and the position of the text region of the slabs is variable. This paper describes an pre-processing algorithm for detection of slab information using robust feature points extraction. Using SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm, we can reduce the search region for extraction of SMNs from the slab image.
An automatic grading algorithm was developed to replace the manual trading of white ginseng. The algorithm consists of three consecutive stages, (a) image acquisition and preprocessing, (b) mathematical feature extraction, and (c) grade decision using artificial neural network. Mathematical features such as area ratio, mean and standard deviation of graylevel, skewness of graylevel histogram, and the number of run segment are extracted from five equally divided parts of ginseng. An artificial neural network model was used to classify white ginsengs into three categories. The performance of the algorithm was evaluated using 120 ginseng samples and the rate of successful classification was 74%.
Extraction of building is one of essential issues for the 3D city models generation. In recent years, high-resolution satellite imagery has become widely available, and this shows an opportunity for the urban mapping. In this paper, we have developed a semi-automatic algorithm to extract 3D buildings in urban settlements areas from high-spatial resolution panchromatic imagery. The proposed algorithm determines building height interactively by projecting shadow regions for a given building height onto image space and by adjusting the building height until the shadow region and actual shadow in the image match. Proposed algorithm is tested with IKONOS images over Deajeon city and the algorithm showed promising results. ┌阀 䭏佈䉌ᔀ鳪떭臬隑駭验耀

In a case of mushroom (Lentinus Edodes L.) , visual features are crucial for grading and the quantitative evaluation of the growth state. The extracted quantitative visual features can be used as a performance index for the drying process control or used for the automatic sorting and grading task. First, primary external features of the front and back sides of mushroom were analyzed. And computer vision based algorithm were developed for the extraction and measurement of those features. An automatic thresholding algorithm , which is the combined type of the window extension and maximum depth finding was developed. Freeman's chain coding was modified by gradually expanding the mask size from 3X3 to 9X9 to preserve the boundary connectivity. According to the side of mushroom determined from the automatic recognition algorithm size thickness, overall shape, and skin texture such as pattern, color (lightness) ,membrane state, and crack were quantified and measured. A portion of t e stalk was also identified and automatically removed , while reconstructing a new boundary using the Overhauser curve formulation . Algorithms applied and developed were coded using MS_C language Ver, 6.0, PC VISION Plus library functions, and VGA graphic function as a menu driven way.
