델파이 방법을 이용한 비즈니스 프로세스 관리 시스템의 기능 평가에 관한 연구 (A study on evaluation of functions of business process management systems using delphi method)

  • 최근 들어 많은 기업들이 비즈니스 프로세스 관리시스템(BPMS)에 큰 관심을 나타내고 있다. 본 연구에서는 델파이 방법을 이용하여 BPMS를 도입하고자 하는 기업들이 원하는 BPMS의 기능에 관하여 조사, 분석을 수행하였다. 델파이 설문 조사를 통해 기업의 BPMS도입 목적별 기능의 중요성에 관한 가중치를 설정하였다. 이를 토대로 각 기업이 효율적인 BPMS 솔루션을 선정하기 위한 평가모형을 제시하였다.

  • Recently, there is a substantial interest in implementing Business Process Management System(BPMS) among enterprises with the purpose of business process innovation. BPMS redesigns and coordinates business processes in terms of both automated steps and human involvement in order to maximize the value of both involved people and systems. The reason why BPMS is getting attention from top managers is that it has the possibility to optimize the business processes by cycling the process of modeling, execution, monitoring, evaluation, and redesigning work processes. Thus, it has created high expectations about not only productivity improvement but also business process innovation. However. having an innovative nature, which is used for process innovation, BPMS implementation has great potential to stir up employee resistance. The analysis and the discussion about the prevention of the resistance against IS(Information Systems) is important because IS change the way people work and also alter the power structure within the organization, in general. The purpose of this study is to investigate factors that have an impact on the effective adoption of BPMS at the enterprise level. To find out these factors, this study considers two characteristics of BPMS: First. BPMS shares some characteristics with other enterprise-wide IS such as ERP. Second, it has special BPMS-specific characteristics. Due to the lack of previous research on BPMS adoption, interviews were carried out with IT-consultants and CIOs who conducted BPMS projects previously to find out BPMS-specific features that would make BPMS unique when compared to other enterprise-wide IS. As a result, the monitoring function was chosen as the main BPMS-specific factor. Thus, this paper reviewed studies both on enterprise-wide IS adoptions, which applied Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and secondly on computer based monitoring to find out factors that would influence the employees' perception on the monitoring function of BPMS. Based on the literature review, the study suggested three factors that would have an impact on the employee's perception of the monitoring function: fairness of enterprise evaluation system, fairness of the boss, and self-efficacy of their work. Three factors that would impact the enterprise-wide IS adoption were also set: the shared belief in the benefit of BPMS, training, and communication. Then, these factors were integrated with TAM. Structural equation modeling was used to test hypotheses, out factors that would impact the employees' perception on the monitoring function of BPMS. Based on the literature review the study suggested three factors that would have an impact on the employee's perception of the monitoring function: fairness of enterprise evaluation system, fairness of the boss, and self-efficacy of their work. Three factors that would impact the enterprise-wide IS adoption were also set: the shared belief in the benefit of BPMS, training, and communication. Then, these factors were integrated with TAM. Structural equation modeling was used to test hypotheses. The data analysis results showed that two among three monitoring function related factors - enterprise evaluation system and fairness of the boss - were significant. This implies that employees would worry less about the BPMS implementation as long as they perceive the monitoring results will be used fairly for their performance evaluation. However, employees' high self-efficacy on their job was not a significant factor in their perception of the usefulness of BPMS. This is related to cases that showed employees resisted against the information systems because they automated their works (Markus, 1983). One specific case was an electronic company, where the accounting department workers were requested to redefine their job because their working processes were automated due to BPMS implementation.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 계층적 분석 기법을 이용한 비즈니스 프로세스 관리 시스템(BPMS)의 평가 모형을 개발하는 것이다. 이를 위해 전문가 집단으로부터 BPMS 솔루션 선택을 위한 기준을 도출하였으며, 이 기준들의 쌍대비교를 통해 AHP 기반의 분석 모형을 개발하였다. 분석모형을 통해 기업이 원하는 BPMS 솔루션을 선택할 수 있으며, 이는 기업의 프로세스 관리 능력 제고에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

  • This study integrated the factors for enterprise-wide IS implementation and BPMS-specific factors to examine factors for effective BPMS implementation. We interviewed IT-consultants and CIOs who conducted BPMS projects. As a result, monitoring function has been agreed as a main BPMS-specific factor. We reviewed literature on BPMS implementation and Computer-based monitoring and integrated the factors from the literature with TAM. We used structural equation modeling to test hypotheses and found some organizational factors such as reward management, boss' fairness were significant.

  • BPMS 기반 논문투고편집 프로세스 포탈은 '논문투고/편집 프로세스모델' 을 기반으로 논문투고 알림, 편집위원 선정 등의 할 일을 챙겨주는 BPMS 기반에 업무목록, 처리화면 및 논문진행상황 등의 논문상태정보에 대한 개인화된 View를 제공하는 Web Portal System이다. 본 논문에서는 논문투고편집 프로세스를 대상으로 BPMS 기반 포탈에 대한 Architecture 를 제안하고, 이를 대한산업공학회지의 논문 편집프로세스를 대상으로 하여 프로토타입을 개발하여 검증하였다. 또한 본 논문에서는 유지보수에 대한 용이성 및 향후 요구사항 변화에 쉽게 대처하기 위한 것으로서, Rule 기반의 Configuration Framework을 제시하였다.

BPMS 기반 항만물류 가상기업의 구현 (Implementation of a BPMS-based Virtual Enterprise in the Port Logistics Industry)

  • First we provide an overview of how virtual enterprise works, including the lifecycle of a virtual enterprise, expected benefits from a virtual enterprise, and various types of collaborative networks. Next we focus on a problem encountered in the port logistics industry and suggest that implementation of a virtual enterprise can be a good solution to the problem. Then we suggest a prototype of the virtual enterprise in the port logistics industry and a freight transportation process as a business process in the prototype. And then we introduce major functions of the business process management system (BPMS) which, in general, can be regarded as a tool to create the virtual enterprise. Finally by adopting a specific BPMS, we illustrate how to design and implement the freight transportation process in the prototype.

  • 기업이 비즈니스 프로세스의 중요성을 인식하게 되면서 비즈니스 프로세스 관리시스템에 대한 관심이 높아졌다. 그러나 전통적으로 BPMS는 업무프로세스의 모형화 및 실행에 그 초점이 맞추어져 있어, 상대적으로 프로세스 관리의 궁극적인 목적인 프로세스 효율성 제고나 더 나아가 프로세스를 혁신하는 데에는 큰 기여를 하지 못하였다. BPMS는 일반적으로 방대한 량의 이력 데이터를 남기게 되는데, 이에는 프로세스의 실행과 관련된 다양한 의미있는 정보나 규칙들이 숨어있다. 본 연구는 데이터마이닝 기법을 활용하여 프로세스 이력 데이터를 분석하는 체계적인 방법론을 제시한다. 제시된 방법론은 프로세스 분석을 위한 데이터 모형, 분석절차, 그리고 시스템 프레임워크를 포함한다. 또한 그 유용성을 검증하기 위하여, 시뮬레이션 데이터를 이용한 실험결과를 제시한다.

  • 2003년부터 시작하여 현재 진행 중인 L전자의 BPM 구축은 한국에서는 최초의 전사적 BPM 구축으로 다른 기업의 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. L전자는 세계 TOP 3의 Global Brand을 이룬다는 목표 하에 기업 업무 혁신(process Innovation)을 가동하였다. 끊임없이 가속화되는 세계화나, IT의 발전 등으로 인한 기업 경영 환경의 변화는 전략의 변화에 따른 업무 처리 절차, 방식의 변화를 초래하고 있기 때문이다. 본 사례는 L전자가 BPM(Business Process Management)을 이용하여 업무 프로세스를 체계적이며 지속적으로 개선하려는 노력에 대하여 구체적으로 살펴보고, BPM을 통한 혁신의 의미와 가능성에 대하여 논의한다.

RFID 기반 생산운영 프로세스에서의 BPMS 적용 (BPMS Application for RFID based Manufacturing Operation Management)

  • RFID (Radio Frequence Identification) is emerging technology and it is used for many fields. The research about RFID has been focused on hardware such as increasing hitting ratio. But recently the research about how and where RFID can apply is going on. Especially people are doing research about connecting RFID with existing information system. In this paper, when BPM manage RFID based manufacturing operation process, we show components which is needed and how we can obtain the components. And we apply this to straw manufacturing process on experiment. The claim-handling process and order-handling process which need improvement in straw manufacturing are chosen and we improve those processes. For executing the improved process, we define components which are database, data acquisition workflow and real-time event processing system and then we make prototype system.

  • Collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment (CPFR) is the most recent successful management initiative that provides supply chain collaboration. By adopting CPFR, companies can dramatically improve the effectiveness of supply chain. The CPFR process has three major sub-processes; planning, forecasting and replenishment, which are formed by a number of steps. Despite the existence of a detailed and comprehensive process model, which is published by the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards Association, in practice CPFR can take a number of different forms. Therefore, this research suggests that business process management system (BPMS) can be utilized as a base system on which a CPFR is consistently constructed and implemented, regardless of a number of its possible forms. We illustrate how a CPFR protype is implemented by using a BPMS and then describe how the prototype is agilely extended to adopt a variety of changes of CPFR collaboration process.
