  • Currently workmen take charge of the maintenance work of bridges. But the process of sealing cracks in damage bridge is dangerous, costly, and labor-intensive operation Labor turnover and training are increasing problems related to crack sealing crews, and as traffic volumes increase, crack sealing operations become increasingly disruptive to the general public. Automation crack sealing can reduce labor and road user costs, improve work quality and decrease worker exposure to bridge hazards. This research aims to develop an automated damage bridge crack sealing system and developing of algorithms for hybrid controlling.

  • It is essential for health monitoring of a cable-stayed bridge to provide more accurate and enough information from the sensors. In experimental modal testing, the chosen measurement locations and the number of measurements have a major influence on the quality of the results. The choice is often difficult for complex structures like a cable-stayed bridge. It is extremely important a cable-stayed bridge to minimize the number of sensing operations required to monitor the structural system. In order to obtain the desired accuracy for the structural test, several issues must take into consideration. Two important issues are the number and location of response sensors. There are usually several alternative locations where different sensors can be located. On the other hand, the number of sensors might be limited due to economic constraints. Therefore, techniques such as methodologies, algorithms etc., which address the issue of limited instrumentation and its effects on resolution and accuracy in health monitoring systems are paramount to a damage diagnosis approach. This paper discusses an optimum sensor placement criterion suitable to the identification of structural damage for continuous health monitoring. A Kinetic Energy optimization technique and an Effective Independence Method are analyzed and numerical and theoretical issues are addressed for a cable-stayed bridge. Its application to a cable-stayed bridge is discussed to optimize the sensor placement for identification and control purposes.

스마트 교량 관리시스템 개발을 위한 요구사항 및 활용 시나리오 도출 (Derivation of System Requirements and Scenario for Smart Bridge Facility Management System Development)

  • 도시의 확장 및 인구 증가로 사회기반시설물 들의 대형화, 복잡화, 노령화가 진행되고 있다. 사회기반시설을 효율적으로 관리하고 유지비용을 절약하기 위해, 정보통신기술과 건설기술을 융합한 스마트 도시관리 기술의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 센서기술, BIM의 3차원 모델을 기반으로 한 교량 관리 시스템을 제안하여, 현행 교량 시설물 관리 시스템이 가지는 운영체계의 미흡과 정보관리의 객관성, 일관성 및 확장성의 문제를 해결하고자 하였다. 또한, 제안한 시스템의 요소기술인 센서 네트워크 기술, BIM 기술과 표준정보체계 현황을 조사하여 스마트 교량 관리시스템을 개발하기 위한 요구사항을 도출하였으며, 활용 시나리오를 제시하여 향후 개발 방향에 대해 논의하였다. 본 연구는 향후 교량 중심의 스마트 시설물 유지관리 시스템의 개발 프레임워크 구축을 위한 기초자료로써 활용될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

Multi-variate Empirical Mode Decomposition (MEMD) for ambient modal identification of RC road bridge

  • In this paper, an adaptive MEMD based modal identification technique for linear time-invariant systems is proposed employing multiple vibration measurements. Traditional empirical mode decomposition (EMD) suffers from mode-mixing during sifting operations to identify intrinsic mode functions (IMF). MEMD performs better in this context as it considers multi-channel data and projects them into a n-dimensional hypercube to evaluate the IMFs. Using this technique, modal parameters of the structural system are identified. It is observed that MEMD has superior performance compared to its traditional counterpart. However, it still suffers from mild mode-mixing in higher modes where the energy contents are low. To avoid this problem, an adaptive filtering scheme is proposed to decompose the interfering modes. The Proposed modified scheme is then applied to vibrations of a reinforced concrete road bridge. Results presented in this study show that the proposed MEMD based approach coupled with the filtering technique can effectively identify the parameters of the dominant modes present in the structural response with a significant level of accuracy.

구조물의 운동 에너지 원리에 의한 감지기의 최적 위치 (Optimal Transducer Placement Based on Kinetic Energy of the Structural System)

  • This research aims to develop an algorithm of optimal transducer placement using Kinetic Energy of the structural system. The structural vibration response-based health monitoring is considered one of the best for the system which requires a long-term, continuous monitoring. In its experimental modal testing, however, it is difficult to decide on the measurement locations and their number, especially for complex structures, which have a major influence on the quality of the results. In order to minimize the number of sensing operations and optimize the transducer location while maximizing the accuracy of results, this paper discusses about an optimum transducer placement criterion suitable for the identification of structural damage. As a criterion algorithm, it proposes the Kinetic Energy Optimization Technique (EOT), and then addresses the numerical issues which are subsequently applicable to actual experiment where a bridge model is used. By using the experimental data, it compares the EOT with the EIM (Effective Independence Method) which is generally used to optimize the transducer placement for the damage identification and control purposes. The comparison conclusively shows that the EOT algorithm proposed in this paper is preferable when a structure is to be instrumented with fewer sensors.

경량전철 교량의 생애주기비용 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Life Cycle Cost Analysis of Light Railroad Transit Bridges)

  • 최근 경량전철 건설사업에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있으며, 경량전철 건설 사업은 주로 민자사업의 형태로 추진되고 있다. 따라서 사업에 투자할 비용을 계약기간 동안 해당 시설물 운영을 통해 수익창출을 해야 하는 민간건설업체 입장에서는 생애주기측면에서 보다 정확한 비용의 산정이 요구되고 있다. 특히, 경량전철 건설사업에 있어서 비용측면에서 많은 부분을 차지하고 있는 교량은 기존의 생애주기비용 산출방식보다 정밀한 비용 산출이 필요하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 문헌고찰을 통해 LCC 분석 모델을 개발하고, 비용분류체계를 제시하였다. 제시된 비용분류체계를 바탕으로 경량전철 교량 상부구조 형식별 공사비와 보수 ${\cdot}$ 보강 ${\cdot}$ 교체 이력자료를 바탕으로 비용발생주기 및 비용단가 등을 수집 ${\cdot}$ 분석하였다. 또한, LCC분석을 위한 기본적인 가정사항을 설정한 후, 각 항목별 실적자료 정보를 활용하여 LCC 측면에서의 경제성 평가를 실시하였다. 그간 경량전철을 비롯한 철도교량에 대한 LCC분석연구가 많이 이루어지고 있지 않은 상황임을 감안할 때, 본 연구를 통해 제시된 비용분류체계와 유지관리 관련 데이터는 철도교량의 체계적인 유지관리 활동에 대한 기반이 될 것으로 기대된다.
