  • The principal objective of this study was to assess the quality characteristics of Topokki with different amounts of curry powder[0%(CT0), 2%(CT2), 4%(CT4), 6%(CT6) and 8%(CT8)], based on the amount of rice flour. The L values of the uncooked and cooked Topokki decreased significantly with increases in the amount of added curry powder. The a and b values of cooked Topokki increased significantly with increases in the amount of added curry powder. The weight gains(%) of CT0(11.40%), CT2(11.67%) and CT4(10.93%) were significantly higher and the volume increases(%) of CT2(12.53%) and CT4(12.23%) were higher than those of the other samples. Textural properties such as hardness, cohesiveness, springiness and gumminess were also assessed. Our sensory evaluation test demonstrated that the appearance of CT2(4.24), the color of CT2(4.24) and CT4(4.26), the flavor of CT2(4.34) and the overall acceptability of CT2(4.24) and CT4(4.26) were superior to those of the others. CT4, CT6 and CT8 evidenced more profound antimicrobial activities than the others. In conclusion, the addition of $2{\sim}4%$ curry powder to the rice flour proved the most acceptable for the preparation of Topokki with curry powder.

  • 초음파 CT는 시기적으로 가장 빨리 X-ray CT와 함께 연구되어 왔으나 인체내의 투과성, 난반사, 긴파장등에 의해 실용화가 아직은 요원하다. 초음파 CT는 크게 Time of flight (TOF)CT, Attenuation CT, Reflection CT, Diffraction CT등으로 나눌수 있다.

  • This study was conducted to estimate absorbed radiation doses associated with CT examinations. We compared CT dose index between single detector CT and multi detector CT. To establish radiation dose criteria in CT examination in Korea, we measured radiation dose for CT examinations in Seoul and kyungki-do. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. Averaged CTDIW value per 100 mAs was $13.5{\pm}3.2\;mGy$, and ranged from 8.1 mGy to 19.1 mGy in head phantom, was $7.1{\pm}2.0\;mGy$, and ranged from 3.7 mGy to 10.9 mGy in body phantom. 2. CTDIW was 3.2 mGy(1.26 times) larger in multi detector CT than single detector CT in head phantom, and 2.1 mGy(1.34 times) larger in body phantom. 3. The dose was the highest in 4 channel multi detector CT, and followed 8 channel multi detector CT, 16 channel multi detector CT and single detector CT in head phantom. And the dose was the highest in 4 channel and 8 channel multi detector CT, and followed 16 channel multi detector CT and single detector CT in body phantom.

  • The dependence of CT scanning parameters on the CT number to physical density conversion from the CT image of CT and CBCT electron density phantom acquired by the CT scanner using in radiotherapy were analyzed by experiment. The CT numbers were independent of the tube current product exposure time, slice thickness, filter of image reconstruction, field of view and volume of phantom. But the CT numbers were dependent on the tube voltage and cross section of phantom. As a result, for physical density range above 0, the maximum CT number difference observed at the tube voltage between 90 and 120 kVp was 27%, and the maximum CT number difference observed between CT body and head electron density phantom was 15%.

  • The CT number corresponds to electron density and its influence on dose calculation was studied. Five kinds of CT scanners were used to obtain Images of electron density calibration phantom (Gammex RMI 467), Then the differences between CT numbers for each scanners were ${\pm}2\%$ In homogeneous medium and $9.5\%$ in high density medium. In order to Investigate the influence of CT number to dose calculation, patients' thoracic CT images were analyzed. The maximum dose difference was $0.48\%$ for each organ. It acquired the phantom Images inserted high density material in the water phantom. Comparing the doses calculated with CT Images from each CT scanner, the maximum dose difference was $2.1\%$ in 20 cm in depth. The exact density to CT number conversion according to CT scanner is required to minimize the uncertainty of dose depends on CT number Especially the each hospital with various CT scanners has to discriminate CT numbers for each CT scanner. Moreover a periodic quality assurance is required for reproducibility of CT number.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the effective energy of CT X-ray beams by using the CT slice images of a CT number calibration insert part in the AAPM CT performance phantom. The CT number calibration insert part in the AAPM CT performance phantom was scanned five times by using a CT canner for 80, 100 and 120 kVp X-ray beams. The average value of CT numbers of each pin were measured for each CT slice image. The correlation coefficients were obtained by linear fit between the average value of CT numbers measured and liner attenuation coefficient under different energy at each pin calculated from data of NIST. A photon energy corresponding to the maximum value of the obtained correlation coefficient was determined as an effective energy. As a result, the effective energy was 56, 62 and 66~67 keV, respectively, for 80, 100 and 120 kVp X-ray beams.

  • Recently, SPECT/CT system has been applied to many diseases, however, the application is not extensively applied at pulmonary disease. Especially, in case that, the pulmonary embolisms suspect at the CT images, SPECT is performed. For the accurate diagnosis, SPECT/CT tests are subsequently undergoing. However, without SPECT/CT, there are some limitations to apply these procedures. With SPECT/CT, although, most of the examination performed after CT. Moreover, such a test procedures generate unnecessary dual irradiation problem to the patient. In this study, we evaluated the amount of unnecessary irradiation, and the usefulness of fusion images of pulmonary disease, which independently acquired from SPECT and CT. Using NEMA PhantomTM (NU2-2001), SPECT and CT scan were performed for fusion images. From June 2011 to September 2010, 10 patients who didn't have other personal history, except lung disease were selected (male: 7, female: 3, mean age: $65.3{\pm}12.7$). In both clinical patient and phantom data, the fusion images scored higher than SPECT and CT images. The fusion images, which is combined with pulmonary vessel images from CT and functional images from SPECT, can increase the detection possibility in detecting pulmonary embolism in the resin of lung parenchyma. It is sure that performing SPECT and CT in integral SPECT/CT system were better. However, we believe this protocol can give more informative data to have more accurate diagnosis in the hospital without integral SPECT/CT system.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of extended CT field of view (FOV) on PET/CT of Standardized uptake value (SUV) when imaging extends beyond the CT FOV. Materials and Methods: CT images were reconstructed at different FOV sizes (500 and 700 mm). Two sets of CT images were reconstructed from the CT projection data by using two FOV sizes. Twenty patients were used in this study. PET images were reconstructed using attenuation maps with 500 mm CT FOV and 700 mm extended CT FOV images. Region of interests (ROIs) drawn on the PET images. In addition, twenty patients' PET images reconstructed by 500 mm CT FOV and 700 mm extended CT FOV were compared with $SUV_{max}$. Results: When using attenuation maps with 700 mm extended CT FOV, the $SUV_{max}$ analysis of liver (p=0.000), lung (p=0.007), mediastinum (p=0.001) were statistically significant. Conclusions: 700 mm extended CT FOV helps to recover the true activity distribution in the PET emission data. In addition, 700 mm extended CT FOV has affected SUV measurement of liver, lung, mediastinum.

  • Cancer-testis (CT) antigens are immunogenic protein antigens with restricted expression in the testes and a wide range of human tumor types, eliciting both humoral and cellular immune responses in cancer patients. They are considered to be ideal targets for vaccine-based immunotherapy, and more than 100 CT antigens, including MAGE, NY-ESO-1, GAGE, BAGE, LAGE, SSX2 and NY-SAR-35 have been identified to date. The CT antigens were identified through various techniques and can be divided in those that are encoded on the X chromosome, the CT-X genes, and those that are not, the non-X-CT genes. CT genes are aberrantly activated and expressed in a proportion of various types of human cancers. The biological role of CT-X in both germ line tissues and tumors remains poorly understood. Cancer vaccine trials based on several CT antigens are currently ongoing. This paper reviews recent advances in and future trends of CT antigens for cancer immunotherapy.
