A Study on Occupational Safety and Health among Child Care Workers : An Empirical Investigation (돌봄 서비스 종사자의 안전보건 실태와 개선방안 고찰 : 어린이집 보육교사를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigated occupational accidents of child care worker. We surveyed 392 childcare worker to investigate their experience of occupational accidents. Fifteen percent of the respondents from occupational accdients survey for child care workers reported that they had experienced more than one occupational accident, but mostly did not claim Occupational Safety and Health Insurance. We suggested policy tasks to improve system for protecting child care workers.

The Effect of the HYO Consciousness on Job Satisfaction in Care Worker : The Mediation Effect of the Elderly Image (요양보호사의 효의식이 직무만족에 미치는 영향 : 노인이미지 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of the elderly image in the relationship of HYO consciousness and job satisfaction in care worker. In this study, the HYO consciousness of care workers is the consciousness of taking good care of the elderly. The research subjects were selected by 10 long-term care institutions belonging to Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and a total of 450 nursing care providers were selected for the survey using a questionnaire. The final 429 questionnaire was used for the analysis. The analysis shows that first, HYO consciousness and the elderly image have a defining effect on job satisfaction. Second, HYO consciousness were found to have a positive influence on the elderly image. Finally, the elderly image played a role in the relationship between HYO consciousness and job satisfaction. The government should seek ways to foster a sense of HYO consciousness and a positive image of the elderly by utilizing educational opportunities for care worker in the future.

The Mediating Effects of Care Work Appraisals Held by Care Workers in Elderly Care Facilities on the Relationship between Job Environment and Service Quality (시설요양보호사의 근무환경과 서비스 질과의 관계에서 돌봄노동 평가의 매개효과)

  • This study aimed to investigate the positive and negative appraisals of care work held by care workers in elderly care facilities and to analyze the mediating effect of care worker's appraisals of care work on the relationship between job environment and service quality. For the purpose of the study, the data were collected from 298 care workers by using non-random and purpose sampling method. The results of the study showed job environment was a significant predictor in explaining in the variances of care work appraisal and service quality. In addition, care worker's positive and negative appraisals of care work were statistically significant mediators in the association of between job environment and service quality. Finding of the study indicated that service quality could be improved by not only improving job environment but also strengthening care worker's positive appraisal of care work. Finally, based on the findings of the study, implications and limitations of the study were discussed.

  • A study was carried out from October 1977 to September 1978 in order to develope health care delively system which will meet to rural area in Korea. For the study objective a model of health care delivery system of Myun (township) area was developed which is adopted the net-work of village health voluntary worker who will play the role of bridge for communication related with health and illness between families or village people and health subcenter, and :he model health care delivery system net-work was set in the area of Soodong Myun, Yangju Gun. which is the rural health demonstration area of Ewha Womans University since 1972. The activities and attitude of 22 village health voluntary workers were observed and analized. during the study period. The results are as follows; 1. For the field activities of village health voluntary workers. a guide line which is described with specific behavioral objectives was developed and used for not only training of the workers but also evaluation of their field activities. 2. During the study period, the number of 971 village people were served primary health care service by village health voluntary worker and the service was classified largely into symptomatic medications (92%) and preventive measures (8%). 3. Comparative percentage of the number of 894 symptomatic cases cared by village health voluntary workers to 5,695 cases of patient treated by Soodong Health Subcenter during the same period was 15.7%. 4. Annual utility rate of village health voluntary worker by Myun total people was 16.1% but utility rate by Rie was varied from 38.2% to 2.8% which shown there were considerable differences in each Rie. In order to settle the village health care service, the obstructive factors of utility should be detected and their counter measure must be taken. 5. As the health need of village people increases, it is expected that the supplement of drug excluding present sit basic drugs is inevitable, but considering the ability of village health voluntary worker, the selection of additional drugs and education, plan should be carefully studied. 6. It is desirable that a financial resource for supplementary purchase of first aid kit, drugs and materials whould be alloted from village public fund like Saemaeul Women's Club fund, which has already practiced in a few villages in the study area. 7. As pointed out by village health voluntary workers, in order to improve the village health, village leaders should be in the center of it and the cooperation of whole village people is a core of healthful village development, and it is reasonable that the health subcenter backs up these voluntary health activities by village people in techniques. 8. It seems effective that a supplementary education for village health voluntary worker be accomplished by a planned education through regular meetings like worker's monthly meeting and irregular post guide when Myun Health Workers can handle the problems found during the round trip of villages. 9. It is desirable that village health voluntary workers, who are recommended by a civil voluntary organization like Saemael Woman's Club, are charged by natural villagc unit, are given a function of village health care service and used through basic education at health subcenter. 10. It is advisable that the village health voluntary worker's service is compensated not by a form of money, but by other way such as an exemption of medical fee of worker herself or her families in health subcenter can be one method. 11. Daily health activities of each village health voluntary worker should be reported to health subcenter by biweekly or monthly in order to get not only for basic data of the program but also for evaluation the program. It is recomandable that the report form should be simple and clear enough for village health voluntary worker to fill it effectively. 12. Village health care service should be developed into a Saemaeul Movement in which village people actively participate. For this, the appointed function of village health voluntary worker should be absorbed into those of living Environment Betterment Section or Family Planning Section of Saemaeul Women's Club or it is desirable that establish a new section, Village Health Promoting Section and make it involve the appointed functions of those sections mentioned above.

Effects of Care workers' Job Satisfaction on the Quality of their Stay-at-Home aged Welfare Service (요양보호사의 직무만족이 서비스 질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the job satisfaction of care worker affect on service quality. It was intended to provide the basic information for enhancing the Job satisfaction and making better quality of service. In order to meet the above purpose, the questionnaire method was applied for the care workers who worked at the 16 home care facilities located in Busan metropolitan city. 250 sheets of questionnaire were distributed and the total of 216 sheets were sampled among the collected questionnaire and analyzed. For data analysis, the statistics package of SPSS/WIN 12.0 was employed to perform reliability test, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis. And the obtained results are as follows: As the result of the regression analysis to find out how care worker's job satisfaction will affect towards the quality of the service, service quality increased as the care worker's job satisfaction rate was higher. For the job satisfaction's sub-variables, it showed high service quality as the satisfaction was increased in the order of task satisfaction level and job safety level.

Perception Types on the Training System with regard to long-term Care Worker (노인 장기요양인력 양성체계에 관한 인식 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out subjective perception types and needs of interested group on manpower training system with long-term care service by Q methodology, then to search for political measures to improve long-term care system in the implication of the sorted subjective perception types. The result of the study showed that there are five major sorts of subjectivities on manpower training system with long-term care service: emphasizes retraining of existing care worker(Type1), emphasizes ethics of public service provider(Type2), emphasizes practice-oriented education(Type3), emphasizes policy judgement of government(Type4), emphasizes training of long-term care worker in demand(Type5). And to try quantity approach methods, this study was developed Q-Block as a assessment tool to enhance validity and reliability of Q-types. The results of the survey showed high conformity.

  • The purpose of this study is to increase the perception of publicness and service quality on nursing facility for the elderly.The care wokers are core human resources in elderly care work practices and their perception of their publicness are likely to on effect service quality. This survey was conducted 318 care workers in nursing facility for the elderly. Research method used multiple regression analysis. Result indicated that care worker's perception of publicness level and service quality is above the ordinarly. And care worker's perception of publicness had positive effect service quality.

  • This study had collected 267 Dental Health Care Worker in Busan, Gyeongnam and Ulsan, in order to investigate work-family conflict, job satisfaction and turnover intention of dental hygienists and find relationship between these. A survey was conducted from April 8 through April 30, 2013, by using structured, self-administered questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS 12.0 program. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The average job satisfaction point are 3.32, work-family conflict point 3.06, and turnover intention point 2.80. 2. The job satisfaction was under the greatest influence of the Group of Rationality, followed by declination of Work Demand, Working Environment, Money. 3. The turnover intention was under the greatest influence of the Money, Job of Future. All the foctors had a positive impact on their turnover intention. That lowering these factors expressed a positive correlation, the higher the money and job of Future turnover intention.

A Study on the Elderly Care Facilities Worker's Attitude and Awareness of Associated Factors of Falls (노인요양시설종사자들의 낙상에 대한 태도 및 낙상영향요인 인식에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the elderly care facilities worker's attitude and awareness of associated factors of falls. The subject was 194 the elderly care facilities workers in Chungbuk. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient was utilized for the data analysis. The results of this study were as follows. the score of attitude was $2.98{\pm}.34$ out of 4, the score of awareness of associated factors was $3.00{\pm}.43$ out of 4. There were statistically significant differences of attitude and awareness of associated factors of falls according to general characteristics. the relationship of attitude and awareness of associated factors of falls was significantly positive. Falls is important health related problem in elderly care facilities, so effective fall prevention program is needed for elderly care facilities worker.

Effect of Positive Psychological Capital on Turnover Intention of Care Worker (요양보호사의 긍정심리자본이 이직의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to analysis the effect of positive psychological capital on turnover intention of care worker in Long-term Care Program. Main results are as follows. First, the results identified the characteristics of the sub-factors of positive psychological capital, The efficacy, hope and resilience of care workers mostly are higher as the more married man, the longer working hours, the longer the career, the more good health condition, the more religion and more the salary. Second, total positive psychological capital is higher as the longer working hours, the more good health condition and the more the salary like sub-factors' characteristics of positive psychological capital in care workers. Third, the turnover of care worker also is higher as the longer working hours and the shorter professional career and the more unmarried. Finally, the positive psychological capital was having a negatively significant impact on turnover intention. In other words, turnover intention of the care worker is lower as the higher positive psychological capital.
