The Relationship between Kinematics of the Limb motions and Changes in the Velocity of the Center of Gravity of the Whole Body during Support Phase in the Triple Jump (세단뛰기 지지국면 시 사지의 운동학적 변인과 전신 무게중심의 속도 변화와의 관계)

  • The purposes of this study were to determine the functions of actions of the limbs during each of the three support phases of the triple jump and their relationships with the performance of the triple jump. Four elite male triple jumpers were participated as subjects. The statistical analyses used were the Pearson product moment correlation coefficient for establishing relationships and simple regression analyses to determine and compare the relationships between the change of the horizontal velocity and the change of the vertical velocity during different support phases. A level of significance at p<.05 was set. The actions of the arms were responsible for about 25%, 25%, and 30% of the decrease in the horizontal velocity of the whole body center of gravity during the support phases of the hop, step, and jump, respectively. The change in the velocities of the whole body center of gravity due to the actions of the free limbs were significantly related with the whole body center of gravity during each support phase. The action of the support leg was associated with the decrease in the horizontal velocity and the increase in the vertical velocity of the whole body center of gravity during each support phase.

Mechanical principles and motions for increasing the height of Fosbury flop (높이뛰기의 도약 높이를 증가시키는 역학적 원리와 동작)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the principles and motions for increasing the jumping height of Fosbury Flop. The subjects were three male jumpers who were former Korean national team players. Their jumping motions were analyzed using the DLT method of three-dimensional cinematography. The conclusions were as follows. 1. The horizontal velocity of approach run and decreasing of this velocity during the take off phase were increased as the jumping height was increased. Therefore, in order to increase the jumping height, the horizontal velocity of approachrun should be increased and decreased properly during the take-off phase. The average height of the analyzed Dials was 2.15m. The average horizontal velocity of approachrun was 7.49m/s and decreased to 4.16m/s at the instance of take-off. 2. The vertical velocity of the center of gravity was increased as the ascending height of the center of gravity during the take-off phase was increased. Therefore, the center of gravity at the instant of touch down should be lowered. This could be possible by increasing the length of the last stride and the backward lean angle of the body. The average length of the last stride was 111.1% of the standing height, the average height of the center of gravity was 46.6% of the standing height and the average backward lean angle of the body was 40.3 degrees.

Field Measurement of the Center of Gravity and the Moment of Inertia of Railway Vehicles Using Vibration (진동을 이용한 철도차량의 무게중심과 관성모멘트 현장 측정)

  • The center of gravity and the moment of inertia of railway vehicles are important parameters for running safety and stability in railway vehicle design. However, the exact measurement of those is difficult in manufacturing field. The weight measurement of a railway vehicle beneath the wheel using a weight scale is off by a large amount. This paper suggests a measurement method for the center of gravity and the moment of inertia of railway vehicles using vibration. For the measurement a railway vehicle is suspended using four wires. Direct measurement of the tension of the wires and the period of swinging motion of the suspended railway vehicle with calculations give the exact location of the center of gravity and the moment of inertia in x, y, and z directions, respectively. This implementation was demonstrated using an experimental device and verified numerically.

Effects of Korean Medical Treatments Combined with Foot Orthotics on Patients' Center of Gravity with Flat Foot : a retrospective study (후향적 연구를 통한 맞춤형 족부보조기와 한방치료를 병행한 편평족 환자의 인체중심선 변화에 대한 연구)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of Korean Medical treatments combined with Orthotics on patients's center of gravity with flat foot. Methods : We reviewed the medical records of 24 patients diagnosed with flat foot. They had received Korean medical treatments combined with Foot Orthotics. To estimate the efficacy in rebalancing of body, we analyzed the changes in center of gravity. Results : Among the 24 patients, 13 were male and 11 were female. There was no statistically significant change in frontal angle at the time of treatment. But side angle was changed statistically significant(P=0.009). There was no difference according to sex of male and female. Conclusion : In this study, We found that Korean Medical treatments with Foot Orthotics was effective for correction of patients's center of gravity with flat foot.

  • We agree with Hanna and Jahnke's assertion on the use of arguments from physics in mathematical proofs and analyze their educational example of the use of arguments from physics in the proof of the center of gravity of a triangle. Moreover, we suggest practical models for the center of gravity of a triangle for the demonstration in a classroom. Comparing with the traditional mathematical arguments, the role of concepts and models from physics in arguments from physics will be clearly pointed out. Also, the necessity for arguments from physics in the classroom will be discussed in this paper.

Feasible Positions of Towing Point and Center of Gravity for Towfish Attitude Control

  • Most towfish systems do not have propulsive devices and cannot compensate for perturbation motion, which can affect the observation data. This paper discusses attitude control of a towfish with elevators on the left and right tail wings to improve the quality of the observational data. Specifically, we investigate the relationships between the towing point, the center of gravity, and the drag forces produced by the elevators to clarify whether the elevators can control the attitude of the towfish sufficiently for various positions of the towing point and center of gravity. The feasible positions of the towing point and center of gravity are defined by mechanical analyses, and simulations are conducted to verify that the elevators can provide attitude control in these positions. The simulation results show that at some positions, the elevators can control the attitude quickly and sufficiently even if disturbances exist.

  • It was performed to encourage for Physical Therapist to apply the theory of center of the human body and segments in clinical situations. This study was investigated literarily on center of the human body and segments. Methods which search for the center-2 types, that is, method using reaction broad and segmental method-was suggested. The center location difference of gravity in human body depends on individual character. Generally, the center location is in kent of 2nd sacrum, that is, at $55\%$ of height from foot. The center of each segment is on 'link'. In the first place we must how the weight of segment we can search for the center easily. Mean segment coater location of extremities is at $42.33\%$ from each proximal end, and mean center of head and trunk lies at $45\%$.

  • The remaining features in this study using the Freecad proceeds according to the overall effect was not supported by the modeling Freecad were conducted a study to complement using the CATIA program or other commercially available. The focus of this study is that there can be obtained the stability through the center of gravity of the balancing of two parts by increasing the weight of the other magnet through a Fortuna other end of the weight of the bar, using the center of gravity. Finally, to find the optimal design of the weight and thickness of the main bar through the center of gravity balancing is the purpose of this study.

  • An equilibrium point of a WIP (Wheeled Inverted Pendulum) with changing its center of gravity is derived and validated by various numerical simulations. Generally, the WIP has two equilibrium points which are unstable and stable one. The unstable one is interested in this study. To keep the WIP over the unstable equilibrium point, the WIP is consistently being adjusted. A state feedback controller for the WIP needs a control reference for the equilibrium point. The control reference can be obtained by studying an equilibrium point of the WIP based on statics. By using Lagrange method, this study is deriving dynamic equations of the WIP both with and without changing its center of gravity. Various numerical simulations are carried out to show the validation of the equilibrium point.

Proteomic Analysis of Coprinopsis cinerea under Conditions of Horizontal and Perpendicular Gravity

  • Coprinopsis cinerea was employed to investigate the fungal response to gravity. Mycelium growth revealed a consistent growth pattern, irrespective of the direction of gravity (i.e., horizontal vs. perpendicular). However, the fruiting body grew in the direction opposite to that of gravity once the primordia had formed. For the proteomic analysis, only curved-stem samples were used. Fifty-one proteins were identified and classified into 13 groups according to function. The major functional groups were hydrolases and transferases (16%), signal transduction (15%), oxidoreductases and isomerases (11%), carbohydrate metabolism (9%), and transport (5%). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on a proteomic approach to evaluate the molecular response of C. cinerea to gravity.
