  • The free-wing tilt-body aircraft is researched in the flight performance characteristics for center of gravity (CG) change. All of speed, body tilt angle and center of gravity change are simulated to determine the flight envelope by a non-linear 3-DOF mathematical model. In flight, this aircraft configuration changes by the tiltable empennage. Then, flight dynamics distinguishes from those of a conventional fixed-wing aircraft. Though flight performance and trimmability are studied by CG change, the flight model of free-wing tilt-body aircraft is to reduce the hidden risk and to achieve the successful flight test. It is analyzed the flight characteristics by CG change that distinguishes free-wing tilt-body aircraft from the conventional aircraft.

  • Cluster analysis has been widely used in many applications, such as data analysis, pattern recognition, image processing, etc. But clustering requires many hours to get clusters that we want, because it is more primitive, explorative and we make many data an object of cluster analysis. In this paper we propose a new clustering method, 'Clustering algorithm using a center of gravity for grid-based sample'. It reduces running time by using grid-based sample and keeps accuracy by using representative point, a center of gravity.

  • An investigation was conducted to determine whether the changes in the maneuvering forces and moments acting on a hull could be affected by changing the vertical center of gravity (VCG) of a tanker. The changes in the hydrodynamic forces and moment acting on a hull according to the restraint conditions of motion were examined using CFD for cases where the VCG was located at the design draught (100% of draught), under the design draught (75% of draught), and at half of the design draught (50% of draught). The following motion restraint conditions were selected: (1) fixed restraints for everything; (2) heave, pitch, and roll free restraint; and (3) heave and pitch free restraints. It was found that restraint condition (2) had the best agreement with the model experiment results. In addition, it was found that the hydrodynamic forces and moment acting on the hull with restraint condition (2) could be greatly affected in the model tests and CFD calculations by the various configurations for the vertical center of gravity of the hull. Finally, it was concluded that the location of the vertical center of gravity of the hull could be an important factor when more accurate hydrodynamic maneuvering forces and moment are estimated.

  • We present a method for modelling the terrain response of gravity gradiometry surveys utilising an adaptive quadtree mesh discretization. The data- and terrain-dependent method is tailored to provide rapid and accurate terrain corrections for draped and barometric airborne surveys. The surface used in the modelling of the terrain effect for each datum is discretized automatically to the largest cell size that will yield the desired accuracy, resulting in much faster modelling than full-resolution calculations. The largest cell sizes within the model occur in areas of minimal terrain variation and at large distances away from the datum location. We show synthetic and field examples for proof of concept. In the presented field example, the adaptive quadtree method reduces the computational cost by performing 351 times fewer calculations than the full model would require while retaining an accuracy of one E$\"{o}$tv$\"{o}$s for the gradient data. The method is also used for the terrain correction of the gravity field and performed 310 times faster compared with a calculation of the full digital elevation model.

  • Joining the WTO in 2001, China became a number of the global economic system. China succeeded in vying to host Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and World Expo 2010 Shanghai. It is China's honor and opportunity to have high economic growth in the coming future. In 2007, the total cost of public logistics decreased by 18.2% than 2006 to 4540.6 billion RMB, accounting for 18.4% of the GDP. So, China logistics is a huge industry and a growing market full of charm. The statistic ratios of China's logistics and growth trends show us it is an important issue to build and run an effective logistics system. However, research on China's logistics systems and supply chain is lacked. This study is focus on the logistic location strategy in China including the study of factories and warehouses geographic strategy concerned with SCM. The core of this study is to propose a New Multi-Facilities Location Decision Model. This study banded the revised gravity center, the standard single facility location decision model(Gravity Center Model) and the transportation model into a new Multi-Facilities Location Decision Model. In addition, this study suggested the gravity center of population, the gravity center of each industry, the location decision graded-list of each industry of china using the gravity center model and the revised gravity center model. The new Multi-Facilities Location Decision Model proposed in this study can be used to solve the location decision problem of more than two facilities. And it can be used in the fields such as the location decision of production facility and service facility, the location of distribution and logistics, the location of broadcast and satellite communications, the location of wireless communication tower and so on.

  • Although Pacific mackerel (Scomber japonicus) is an important commercial species in Korea, its recruitment mechanism remains largely unknown. Diel vertical positioning of larvae in the water column, which is affected by their specific gravity and the surrounding water density, may help to provide an understanding on recruitment success through predator avoidance and prey availability. The specific gravity measurement on Pacific mackerel eggs and larvae would seem to be essential information necessary to learn about the transport process from spawning to nursery grounds, and consequently the recruitment success. Eggs were artificially fertilized, and larvae were fed with rotifer when their mouths opened 3-4 days after hatching. We conducted the experiment using a density gradient water column to measure the ontogenetic changes in specific gravity from fertilization to 10 days after hatching. Egg specific gravity was stable during most of the embryonic period, but a sudden increase to $1.0249g\;cm^{-3}$ happened just before hatching. However, the specific gravity of newly hatched larvae was much lighter ($1.0195g\;cm^{-3}$), and specific gravity tended to increase continuously after hatching. Comparison of specific gravity with seawater density reveals that eggs and newly hatched larvae can float in the surface layer of the ocean. For the later period of the experiment, the specific gravity showed a cyclic diel pattern: the highest in the evening while the lowest at dawn. The fullness of larval stomach may be responsible for the observed differences in specific gravity, because stomach fullness was lower (40-60%) at midnight, and higher (80-85%) in evening. The diel pattern of specific gravity might provide clues regarding how larvae match the diel vertical migration of prey organisms.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the dynamic situation of the biomechanical responses of a pilot that occur before the black out during high gravity maneuvering. The computer biodynamic simulations using the Articulated Total Body(ATB) model show the following results : 1) the center of gravity(c. g) offsets of a helmet have significant effects on the head deflection angle which is closely connected with the head down : 2) the average and maximum gravity forces are smaller in the curvilinear type of an acceleration than in the straight type of the acceleration, and it is applied to the case of the head deflection angle. We suggest that the new concept of protective device should be necessary to prevent the head down during high gravity maneuvering.

  • This study investigates Korean phonation types in terms of spectral characteristics of release bursts. Particularly, this study compares intensity of the speech signal in the release burst, the center of gravity and skewness of the spectra of the release bursts across phonation types for the Korean alveolar plosives. The results showed that there was no significant difference in intensity, center of gravity, or skewness across phonation types but a significant difference across speakers.
