This study was conducted to understand and analyze experience of learning process support toward mothers of children who suffer from Cerebral Palsy, to generalize and structurize the meaning of practical learning process support, and to use the study results as basic materials for development of support model. Study subjects were 12 mothers who have Cerebral Palsy children attending an ordinary school and a school for handicapped children. Data were collected from November 10, 1999 to December 29, 2000 and from January 20 to March, 2001, for 2 months. Data were collected from un-structural and open questions. And the collected data were analyzed with the phenomenological analysis method proposed by van Kaam(1969). Study results obtained from this report were as follows; As for original materials about learning process support experience of cerebral palsy children's mothers, 48 technical expressions were derived from 97 pieces of original materials, they were categorized into 10 common elements. Those common elements were , , , , , , , , , . Based on the above results, it is suggested that the concept of learning process support toward children suffering from Cerebral Palsy should be structureized, and proper models should be developed.

Improvement in functional gait is one of treatment goals in treatment of cerebral palsy children. This study intended to examine the effects of insoles for postural correction on gait in spastic cerebral palsy patients by investigating changes in gait temporal spatial parameters. As the subjects, 15 spastic bilateral cerebral palsy patients participated in this study. Temporal spatial parameters of gait were measured using GAITRite system under three gait conditions. Bare foot gait, gait in shoes, and gait in insoles for postural correction were conducted. In order to look at differences in temporal spatial parameters according to three gait conditions, repeated one way analysis of variance was conducted. As post hoc test, Bonferroni was conducted. A significant level was set at ${\alpha}=.05$. According to the result of this study, gait velocity, cadence, step length, stride length of the left lower extremity significantly changed. When the subjects put on customized insoles for postural correction, the effect was greatest. There were no significant changes in stance time, single support time, double support time, swing % of gait, and stance % of cycle. Therefore, gait with insoles for postural correction positively influenced functional gait improvement and will be able to be usefully employed for spastic cerebral palsy children as one of gait assistance devices.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference and relationship between sensory processing abilities, gross motor and fine motor capabilities in children with cerebral palsy. METHODS: 104 children with cerebral palsy participated in the study. Sensory processing abilities of the subjects were measured by Short Sensory Profile (SSP). Gross and fine motor abilities were each measured using the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and Manual Ability Classification System (MACS), respectively. RESULTS: There were significant correlations between SSP level and GMFCS (R=.72, p<.00) or MACS (R=.77, p<.00) levels. Significant differences were showed each gross motor (p=.01) and fine motor level (p=.00) among sensory processing level of children. In addition, sub-items of sensory processing as Tactile sensitivity, Movement sensitivity, Auditory filtering and Low energy/Weak were significantly were showed significant correlations gross motor and fine motor level (p=.01). Also, multiple regression result was showed that as MACS level and GMFCS level were higher, the SSP total score was higher all of participants (adjusted $R^2=.62$). CONCLUSION: Sensory processing abilities of children with cerebral palsy were related with gross motor and fine motor capabilities. Also gross motor and fine motor capabilities are as higher, the sensory processing skill was well of cerebral palsy.

The purpose of this study was to provide information concerning the dental caries incidence in cerebral palsy children, and to aid improvement of their oral health. The author examined 106 cerebral palsy children and 185 normal children as control group, between 3 and 15 years of age. The obtained results were as follows: 1) In the DMF person rate, DMFT rate and DMFT index, cerebral palsy children (74.68%, 16.24% and 2.76 respectively) showed remarkable increment compare to normal children. (14.28%, 6.95% and 1.20 respectively.) 2) In the df person rate, dft rate and dft index, cerebral palsy children(93.33%, 37.41% and 6.22 respectively) showed remarkable increment compare to normal children. (78.64%, 20.68% and 3.29 respectively.) 3) There showed no significant in sexual differences. 4) In the dental caries incidence of the permanent teeth, athetosis and paraplegia type was found higher than other types. 5) Cerebral palsy children was found higher than normal children in the oral hygiene index. 6) There was found out necessity of the continuous dental enlightenment and treatment through this study.
The purpose of this case study was to introduce botulinum toxin A injection in cerebral palsy. Spasticity can be managed using a variety of methods. Eliminating aggravating sources, promoting stretching and bracing, and positioning are the least invasive methods of treatment. Botulinum toxin A injection is a relatively recent method of spasticity management in children with cerebral palsy. A 3-year old boy was evaluated for possible botulinum toxin injection to promote left side function. The patient had left hemiparetic cerebral palsy. He walked with bilateral intoning, much worse on the left than on the right and with excessive plantar flexion on the left. Botulinum toxin A was injected into the left medial gastrocnemius, with the goals of improving quality of gait. Finally, botulinum toxin treatment of would improve the motor function and ambulatory status in cerebral palsy by hypertonicity, spasticity, dynamic contracture and athetoid movement.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the improve on brain activity during action observation training for cerebral palsy of diplegia. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: 18 subjects were divide into two groups: action observation training group and a control group. Action observation group practiced repeatedly the action with their motor skill and control group practiced conventional physical therapy. The subjects participated in eighteen 30-min sessions, 3 day a week, for 6week. To confirm the effects on brain activity were evaluated. Results: The results show that the Mu-rhythm was statistically significant increase on the C3 of the action observation training group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The action observation training improves brain activity of a cerebral palsy with diplegia. These results suggest that the action observation training is feasible and beneficial for improving brain activation for the cerebral palsy with diplegia. In the future, I think we need to be actively utilized to the action observation training program in the clinical with the neuromuscular development treatment. And the study on the various the action observation training program that can improve the function of the children with cerebral palsy is thought necessary.

Cerebral palsy is one of the most common disabilities of childhood, which affects movement and co-ordination. Individuals with cerebral palsy are susceptible to traumatic dental injuries. High occurrence of Class II malocclusion with prominent maxillary incisors appears to increase risk of trauma. However, due to fear of behavior management and lack of cooperation, clinicians have avoided orthodontic treatment in cerebral palsy patients. This case report demonstrates that modified rapid maxillary expansion can be used as a simple and effective method to correct ectopic eruption of maxillary incisor in cerebral palsy patient.
Purpose: This study examined the effect of vibration exercise on the thickness of the oblique extrinsic, oblique abdominal, and biceps muscles, which are trunk muscles, targeting children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods: The participants in this study were 20 children (8 male and 12 female) with cerebral palsy aged 5-10 years. They were classified into two groups using a randomized allocation method, and the trunk muscle thickness was measured using an ultrasound-imaging device before and six weeks after the experiment. A paired t-test was used for the within-group changes, and an independent t-test was used for the inter-group changes. The significance level was set to α=0.05. Results: There was a significant increase in the inter-group change in the experimental group and control group in the intra-group change in the external oblique muscle and internal oblique muscle. After six weeks, there was a significant increase in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion: Vibration exercise had a positive effect on the trunk muscle thickness of children with cerebral palsy. Vibration exercise produced a significant difference in the changes in the trunk muscle thickness in children with cerebral palsy compared to no vibration exercise. These results may provide basic data for future research and as a training method for strengthening the trunk muscles in clinical trials.
