Objectives : Many studies are being done in the method of experimental chuna science in China. The aim of this review is to understand and study the methods of experimental chuna science, focusing on the effects of chuna on nervous system. Methods : We reviewed "實驗推拿學"(experimental tuina science) and Chinese journals were searched using China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI). Korean journals were searched using 3 Korean web databases(OASIS, NDSL, RISS). Results : By experimental chuna science, analgesic effect of chuna, therapeutic action of chuna on stroke, therapeutic action on polio, effect of modulating autonomic nerves of chuna and effect of modulating thermoregulatory centers of chuna were proved. Conclusions : Experimental chuna science is necessary for development of chuna to a higher level. In Korea, not a lot experimental studies are being done, especially in chuna. For this reason we need to learn and adapt the methods of experimental chuna science of China.

Objectives : Through the study of Chuna of "Naegyung", this study attempts to secure the basis of Chuna therapy. Methods : This study selected sentences such as Kyo, Gyo, Do, Ma, Mun, Bu, Ahn, Ol, In, Jeol, Jo, Chu, Tan(喬, ?, 導, 摩, ?, ?, 按, ?, 引, 切, ?, 推, 彈), etc. to try various studies related to Chuna. Results : As for Chuna in "Naegyung", the origin and role of Chuna, the instruments of Chuna, the mechanism of Chuna treatment, the application range of Chuna, and the notes of Chuna, etc. are summarized in this study. Conclusions : Based on Chuna of "Naegyung", it is necessary to study the development process of Chuna and to create various manual techniques of Chuna.

Results : By experimental chuna science, effect of chuna on blood pressure, cardiovascular system, hemorheologic system, blood flow velocity, circulation and lymphatic system were proved. Conclusions : Experimental chuna science is necessary for improvement of chuna to a higher level. In Korea, not many experimental studies are being done, especially in chuna and it has very narrow target diseases. For this reason we need to learn and adapt the methods of experimental chuna science of China.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to analyze the Chuna manual therapy usage status after the application of Chuna manual therapy health insurance. Methods This study analyzed the health insurance data (2019-2021). From April 2019 to December 2021, monthly data were collected by simple Chuna, complex Chuna (own expense 50%), complex Chuna (own expense 80%), and special (dislocation) Chuna. Results The major results are as follows. First, in hospital-level medical institutions, simple Chuna and complex Chuna (own expense 50%) occupied a similar proportion. In clinic-level medical institutions, simple Chuna occupies the largest proportion. Second, the amount of use decreased in all medical institutions after September, which is thought to be the result of restrictions on Chuna manual therapy health insurance. Conclusions Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research by receiving more detailed data onr Chuna manual therapy health insurance. Through this, an improved policy of Chuna manual therapy health insurance should be discussed.

Bibliographic study on pediatric Chuna in the Myung Chung dynasties resulted as the following. 1. Pediatric Chuna experts in Myung dynasty utilized methods of Chuna to a great extense as means of preventing and treating various kinds of pediatric disorders. 2. Pediatric Chuna experts in Myung dynasty put emphasis on diagnosis through the doctor's inspection. 3. Pediatric Chuna experts in Myung dynasty developed and applied special acupoints for pediatric Chuna. 4. Pediatric Chuna experts in Myung dynasty put emphasis on replenishing and discharging according to hand manipulation. 5. Pediatric Chuna experts in Myung dynasty developed and applied methods of massaging with herbal medicine. 6. Pediatric Chuna experts in Myung dynasty put methods of Chuna into songs for handier use. 7. Pediatric Chuna experts in Chung dynasty corrected the errors of the predecessors and further developed the handed down advantages. 8. Pediatric Chuna experts in Chung dynasty specifically combined the theories of Chuna with characteristics of pediatric physiology. 9. Pediatric Chuna experts in Chung dynasty described treatments by symptoms systematically. 10. Pediatric Chuna experts in Chung dynasty, criticizing the trend at the time of despising pediatric Chuna, endeavored to spread pediatric Chuna. 11. Pediatric Chuna experts in Chung dynasty arranged the relationship between hand manipulation of Chuna and herbal medicine. 12. Pediatric Chuna experts in Chung dynasty arranged various kinds of methods for diagnosis, including diagnosis by palpation of the chest and the abdomen. 13. Pediatric Chuna experts in Chung dynasty combined the method of multiple hand manipulation and method of basic hand manipulation. 14. The theories of pediatric Chuna before Myung Chung dynasties only put emphasis on Ki and Blood, not combining with the basic principles of Korean medicine like Eum/Yang and Five Phases. The scholars of Myung Chung dynasties came to successfully combine the principles of Korean medicine like stability theory, Jang and Bu (internal organs) theory, and Eum-Yang theory with the theories of pediatric Chuna. This combination best characterizes the theories of pediatric Chuna in the Myung Chung dynasties.

Objectives: Although chuna medicine has progressed distinguishingly, yet chuna medical terminology hasn't been standardized. So there are a lot of difficulties in translating chuna related book and their meaning cannot be conveyed properly. For this reason, we could say standardization of chuna medical terminology is very essential. Purpose of our study was to develope a standard database of concept terms for chuna medicine, in addition, we considered establishing fundamental principles of chuna medical terminology. Methods: To select standard chuna medical terms, we sorted important chuna medical index words. Then we sorted those words into a group that has same meanings and united to one single term. In the meantime, we extracted index words from 26 domestic and foreign manual technique related books and sorted them out and based on these word, we translated chuna medical terms to Korean terms. In the case of chuna technique terms, we searched chuna text books for term those were wrongly used, and corrected them by suggesting fundamental principles of terminology. Results: 664 chuna words were selected as standard chuna terms and have been translated to English terms. In the process, adscititious words such as anatomical terms and title of books were exempted and selected only important words that could be used as index of chuna terms. In deciding essential elements of chuna technique terms, patient position, contact point, segmental contact point, malposition, procedure method were selected. Conclusions: Correcting chuna medical terms in a sort period could cause confusion, but in long term perspective, in the aspect of conveying the meaning clearly and education purpose, standardizing of chuna medical terminology must be done. From this study, standardization of chuna medical terms were chosen in large category, but further studies must be followed in order to standardize terms of subdivisional categories.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of chuna treatment on cervical sprain caused by traffic accident in early stage. Methods : This study carried out on 20 patients who have received hospital treatment in Daejeon Univ. cheonan Oriental Hospital. Non-chuna group got acupunture-therapy, herbal medication, physical therapy and Chuna group got chuna treatment besides. We measured Heart Rate Variability(HRV) and Visual Analog Scale(VAS) on 2nd, 4th day. Results : After being treated by our methods, Chuna Group showed the inclination to balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve. In chuna group, an autonomic nerve activity showed the inclination to increase. But there were no significant difference between both groups. Chuna group's VAS were significantly decreased(p=0.043). Conclusions : The results suggest that Chuna treatment help traffic accident patients in early stage to reduce pain. Refer to autonomic nerve system, chuna treatment seem to do positive effect but Further long tenn study in a large scale is needed.

Objectives : The aim of present study is to estimate clinical outcome of Chuna treatment and Chuna medicine treatment for patients with H.I.V.D(Herniated Intervertebral Disc) of lumbar spine according to the character of patients and the steps of Chuna therapy, and therefore suggest a prospective, desirable Chuna treatment and patient guidance. Methods : We investigated the 258 cases of outpatients who were diagnosed as the H.I.V.D. on lumbar C.T. or MRI and were treated more than seven times with chuna treatment and more than one time with Chuna medicine treatment In Jaseng Oriental Medicine Hospital from September 1, 1999 to December 31, 2000. We evaluated the subjective symptoms by Hudgin's classification. For the sake of the more objective evaluation for before and after treatment, we calculated the Improvement index and ratio of the four parts to estimate the pain and functional disorder In before and after treatment by Macnab's criteria. Results & Conclusion : The improvement index and ratio showed that the conservative therapy with Chuna therapy improved the symptom of H.I.V.D. much effectively, and especially in the patient groups of male, 30-39 years, standing Job, duration of symptom within one week, the 4th step of chuna treatment, the first step of chuna medicine treatment, and the excellent satisfactory assessment of Chuna treatment. Therefore, it is supposed that the conservative therapy with Chuna therapy and patient guidance should be much actively continued.

Objectives This study aimed to the application of Chuna manual therapy in patients with stroke where much evidence is not available. Methods Domestic databases (KOREANTK, OASIS, RISS, KISS, and KMBASE) were queried for literature showing application of Chuna manual therapy in stroke patients. Additionally, insufficient evidence was supplemented with expert consensus using the Delphi method. Based on the literature review and expert consensus, the academic committee of the Korean Society of Chuna Manual Medicine reviewed and summarized the Chuna technique recommendations that can be applied to stroke patients. Results There were six studies on Chuna manual therapy in stroke patients, and Chuna therapy was applied for pelvic, shoulder, and elbow joint spasticity. The expert Delphi survey did not agree with the application of the nine of the 69 standard Chuna techniques and deliberated on matters to be considered when applying Chuna manual therapy to stroke patients. Finally, based on clinical research literature and expert opinions, Chuna technique was recommended for patients with post-stroke spasticity. Conclusions The application of Chuna therapy to non-muscular skeletal disorders, including stroke is recommended and should be applied while taking the necessary precautions.

The manipulations are the main therapheutic procedure of Chuna. Manipulation is the essential procedure of Chuna theraphy. On the basis of touch parts and motion changes, each elementary manipulation is divided into Stimulating Manipulations (reflexional manipulations) and Mobilizing Manipulations. Objectives: This study were advanced so as to know Chinese Chuna Manipulations especially on Herniated Nucleus Pulposus. Methods We Investigated Chinese medicine paper about Chinese Chuna Manipulations on Herniated Nucleus Pulposus between 1996 and 1999. Results. Chinese Chuna theraphy, Pressing Manipulations and Thrusting-Wrenching Manipulations are mostly used on Herniated Nucleus Pulposus, and Chinese Chuna theraphy carrys out Traction, Injection. Chinese medicine. Acupuncture side by side. Conclusions: Chinese Chuna theraphy uses not only Mobilizing Manipulations, but also Stimulating Manipulations whereas Korean Chuna theraphy chiefly uses Mobilizing Manipulations.
