  • Impulse buying has been considered a pervasive and distinctive phenomenon in the modern lifestyle and has been receiving increasing attention from consumer researchers and theorists. In the modern marketplace, spontaneous urges to buy and consume often compete with the practical necessity to delay the immediate gratification that purchasing provides. The purpose of this study is to conceptualize and test the framework of impulse buying behavior for fashion products using structural equation model. Data were obtained from 413 students attending universities during schedules classes in Busan. Analysis of the data, utilizing AMOS 4.1, supported most of the predictions. The results showed that situational variable(time available) and individual variable(fashion involvement) have direct effects on consumers' shopping emotions, including positive and negative emotion. Positive emotions had effects on all types of impulse buying(planned impulse buying, reminded impulse buying, and fashion-oriented impulse buying), while negative emotion affected two types of impulse buying(reminded impulse buying and fashion-oriented impulse buying). These emotional experiences influence impulse buying behaviors for fashion products serving as critical mediators. The findings suggest that time available and fashion involvement are good predictors mediated by shopping emotion to impulse buying behavior for fashion products. The implications of this research for future work on the shopping emotion and impulse buying behavior are discussed.

  • The main objectives of this study were to investigate the characteristics of clothing buying behavior under the refund policy of stores (CCBBURPS) and the influence variables on CCBBURPS and to build the model of CCBBURPS. Additionally frequency and reasons for refund were researched. The interviews with 26 subjects the reviews of previous studies and the empirical investigation were processed for the study. The data was collected from 163 Korean females living in U.S. and analyzed by frequency mean factor analysis {{{{ chi ^2 }}-test, t-test and regression. The following results were found : the easyness of decision making (EDM) the loyalty of refund policy store (LRPS) and the increase of buying (IB) were found as the characteristics of clothing buying behaviors under the refund policy. EDM, LRPS and IB were influenced by clothing attitudes-shopping involvement and perceived buying risk-. The frequency of refund with 10 purchases was usually 0~1 times(38.7%) or 1~2 times (38.7%) The reasons for refund were : size unflattering appearance design com\ulcorner. The model of CCBBURPS was built based on the above findings(fig. 1)

There were significant differences in clothing shopping orientation, impulsive purchasing, use of information sources, store selection standards between groups who had experience of buying imported clothing and had no experience of it. Also, there were significant differences in education levels, income Levels, marital status between two groups.

Personality types were identified using Myers-Briggs Type indicator(MBTI). The data were collected from 360 female adults using a questionnaire to clothing lifestyle and clothing buying behavior. The data were analysed with factor analysis, one- way ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. Results are summarized as follows: First, 'Fashion-oriented', 'self-regulate-oriented', 'activity-oriented', 'economic-oriented', 'social-oriented', 'leisure-oriented' and 'conservationoriented' clothing life-style had a significant difference of psychological types. Second, Extroverted(E) or Sensation(S) or Feeling(F) types regarded significantly higher in 'VMD', 'store atmosphere', 'famous brand name and store name' as criteria for store selection than combination types(IN, IT, NT) of Introverted(Ⅰ), iNtuition(N), Thinking(T). • Since most clothing research has still centered around buying behavior, the importance of consumer behavior which exists outside the purchase context has been neglected. This orientation focusing solely on purchase-related processes is deficient as it cannot account for consumer behavior that is recreational or that occurs without a recognized consumption need. In this vein, clothing browsing behavior can be a significant variable that has effects on clothing purchase-related variables. So to speak, browsers do make purchases at times; delayed-action purchases, impulse purchases and browsers may provide other less informed people with product information. In this study, we used definition proposed by Bloch and Richins(1983), which defines non purchase shopping(browsing) as 1,he examination of merchandises of a store for recreational or informational purposes without a current intention to buy. The specific objectives of the study were to identify the dimensions of clothing non -purchase shopping and to determine the causal relationship among clothing involvement, non-purchase shopping, impulse buying, purchase quantity, opinion leadership. The questionnaire method was used and 366 questionnaires were analyzed. Results can be summarized as follows. First, the non-purchase shopping was divided into two dimensions such as recreational non-purchase shopping and informational non-purchase shopping Of the two dimensions, recreational dimension explained the greater part than informational one. Second, it was revealed that clothing involvement was strongly positively related to non-purchase shopping, which influenced considerably on impulse buying, purchase quantity, and opinion leadership. In other words, clothing non-purchase shopping behaivor is very significant concept of clothing product category and has considerable effects on clothing buying though it occurs independently of purchase, so it seems that much more concern will be needed on this concept.
