Improvement of korean Braille-Code System for Automatic Reverse Braille Translation (자동 역점역을 가능하게 하는 한글점자 부호체계의 개선)

  • Translation of a Korean text into a braille text causes no problem under the existing Korean braille-code System that maintains I: I correspondence between Korean characters and braille codes. However, reverse translation of a braille text into a Korean text would cause unavoidable mis-translation due to I : N correspondences between braille codes and Korean characters. The analysis shows that in Korean braille-code System, the major reasons for mis-translation are the conflicts between Korean Chosung (initial consonant) letters and numbers, between Korean Jongsung (final consonant) letters and punctuations, between Korean Jongsung (final consonant) letters and English mode delimiter codes, and overlapping use of the same braille code such as opening and closing parentheses. In this paper, we firstly established a reverse translation rule, that is to use an ordinary braille code unless the braille code causes any conflict in braille code sequences. If any ordinary braille code may cause some conflict during the reverse translation, an extended braille code that we propose in this paper must be used. In the experimentation, we cannot get any translation errors with the newly designed braille-code System compared with 25% of errors with the existing braille-code System.

  • Currently RFID code systems are classified into ISO, EPC, uCode, KKR code, Mobile RFID code, and etc. According to RFID code systems, RFID system is changed. For various RFID code systems, it's difficult to make it to the network and permanence of RFID business. And the existing system isn't add new RFID code systems to RFID system, and change it efficiently. This paper is proposed to a system of Multi RFID code Identification Translation using Ontology. This system is able to identify code data from RFID reader using ontology build into the identifier info and translation info of RFID code systems, and translate to URN data. Therefore in case of extending and changing RFID code systems, we can add and change the identifier info and translation info of RFID code systems in ontology.

Design and Implementation of a Dynamic Instrumentation Framework based on Light-weight Dynamic Binary Translation (경량 동적 코드 변환 기법을 이용한 동적 인스트루멘테이션 기법 설계 및 구현)

  • Dynamic binary instrumentation is a code insertion technique for debugging a program without scattering its execution flow, while the program is running. Most dynamic instrumentations are implemented using dynamic binary translation techniques. Existing studies translated program codes dynamically by parsing the machine code stream to intermediate representation (IR) and then applying compilation techniques for IRs. However, they have high overhead during translation, which is a major cause of difficulty in applying the dynamic binary translation technique to the program which requires high responsiveness. In this paper, we introduce a light-weight dynamic binary instrumentation framework based on a novel dynamic binary translation technique which has low overhead while translating the program code. In order to reduce the translation overhead, our approach adopts a tabular-based address translation and exploits a translation bypassing scheme, which stores the translated address of a frequently called library function in advance. It then accesses the translated address and executes function codes without code translation when calling the function. Our experiment results demonstrated that the proposed approach outperforms the prior dynamic binary translation techniques from 2% up to 65%.

  • ARM processors are being utilized in a variety of embedded systems. It is also that most ARM processor accepts C application, and then generates ARM assembly code using GNU gcc Cross-compiler. For the purpose of improving the quality of code generated and the efficient code generation, the various researches are underway. In this paper, we generates the ARM assembly code from the ANSI C programs using Syntax-directed Translation Techniques, and then the performance evaluation results for our research experimental compare to GNU gcc Cross-compiler are described. The techniques are presented in this research compared to GNU gcc cross-compiler very simple and convenient in extension of the production rules.

  • Binary translation is a kind of the emulation method which converts a binary code compiled on the particular instruction set architecture to the new binary code that can be run on another one. It has been mostly used for migrating legacy systems to new architecture. In recent, binary translation is used for instrumenting programs without modifying source code, because it enables inserting additional codes dynamically, For general application, there already exists some instrumentation software using binary translation, such as dynamic binary analyzers and virtual machine monitors. On the other hand, in order to be benefited from binary translation in kernel-level, a few issues, which include system performance, memory management, privileged instructions, and synchronization, should be treated. These matters are derived from the structure of the kernel, and the difference between the kernel and user-level application. In this paper, we present a scheme to apply binary translation and dynamic instrumentation on kernel. We implement it on Linux kernel and demonstrate that kernel-level binary translation adds an insignificant overhead to performance of the system.

A Transformation from POSIX Based Source Code to OSEK/VDX Source Code Based on API and OIL Translation (API 및 OIL 변환을 이용한 POSIX 기반 코드의 OSEK/VDX 코드로의 변환)

  • In this paper, we present a transformation method of source code from a POSIX (Portable Operating System Interface) based source code into an OSEK/VDX (Offene Systeme und deren Schnittstellen fur die Elektronik in Kraftfahrzeugen/Vehicle Distributed eXecutive) source code. As the electronic parts of automobile systems increase, the use of embedded software in automobile systems is also growing. Accordingly, many electronic systems are designed in automobile system with OSEK/VDX. Otherwise, one of the major problems of embedded software would be portability to other OS's. To enhance the portability and interoperability of embedded software, we propose a source code transformation method from POSIX to OSEK/VDX based on API (Application Programming Interface) translation method. Considering the characteristics of the OSEK/VDX which uses OIL (OSEK/VDX Implementation Language) standard, transformation process is performed with source code transformation and OIL code generation. For the validity of the proposed method, the transformation experiment is given using Micro-C OS II and OSEK/VDX with XC167CI micro-controller.

  • Within 10years, it will be possible to integrate 10B transistors on a single chip microprocessor which wilt operate far beyond GHZ, and it will execute about 20-200 instructions per clock cycle from widely variable instruction streams leveraging SMT(Simultaneous Multithreading) technology . Also it will decouple the current legacy X86 binary compatibility by translation layer such as code morphing technology.

A Constraint on Lexical Transfer: Implications for Computer-Assisted Translation(CAT)

  • The central goal of the current paper is to investigate lexical transfer between Korean and English and to identify rule-governed behavior and to provide implications for development of computer-assisted translation(CAT) software for the two languages. It will be shown that Sankoff and Poplack's Free Morpheme Constraint can not account for all the range of data. A constraint is proposed that a set of case-assigners such as verbs, INFL, prepositions, and the possessive marker may not undergo lexical transfer. The translation software is also expected to be equipped with the proposed claim that English verbs are actually borrowed as nouns or as defective verbs to escape from the direct attachment of inflectional morphemes.

  • In this paper, we propose a novo] content-based image retrieval system using both Hidden Markov Model(HMM) and an improved chain code. The Gaussian Mixture Model(GMM) is applied to statistically model a color information of the image, and Deterministic Annealing EM(DAEM) algorithm is employed to estimate the parameters of GMM. This result is used to segment the given image. We use an improved chain code, which is invariant to rotation, translation and scale, to extract the feature vectors of the shape for each image in the database. These are stored together in the database with each HMM whose parameters (A, B, $\pi$) are estimated by Baum-Welch algorithm. With respect to feature vector obtained in the same way from the query image, a occurring probability of each image is computed by using the forward algorithm of HMM. We use these probabilities for the image retrieval and present the highest similarity images based on these probabilities.

  • EPCglobal TDT specifies standards on RFID tag representations and conversion rules among them. According to the rule, more than 200 combinations of code conversions are possible. In this paper, we propose a code generation scheme for developing TDT code conversion program, that imports TDT XML specification and generates conversion codes. The proposed scheme makes it easy to develop and to maintain the conversion codes.
