  • In the present paper we define the codes which assign D-alphabet one-one codeword to each outcome of a random variable and the functions which represent possible transormations from one-one codes of size D to suitable codes. By using these functions we obtain lower bounds on the exponentiated mean codeword length for one-one codes in terms of the generalized entropy of order $\alpha$ and type $\beta$ and study the particular cases also.

  • In this paper, we have proposed the robust estimation of HMM parameters which is based on CDDN(codeword dependent distance normalization)and codeword weighting by distance. The proposed method has used a distance normalization based on the characteristics of a codeword dependent distribution and have computed fuzzy contributions of codeword to a input vector with a fuzzy objective function. From experimental results, we have shown the effectiveness of the proposed method in that the correction rate of the proposed method is improved 4.5% over the conventional FVQ based method. Especially, the application of distance weighting to smoothing of output probability is improved the performance of 2.5% compared to distance based codeword weighting.

  • Vector quantization (VQ) is widely used in many high-quality and high-rate data compression applications such as speech coding, audio coding, image coding and video coding. When the size of a VQ codebook is large, the computational complexity for the full codeword search method is a significant problem for many applications. A number of complexity reduction algorithms have been proposed and investigated using such properties of the codebook as the triangle inequality. This paper proposes a new structured VQ search algorithm that is based on a multi-stage structure for searching for the best codeword. Even using only two stages, a significant complexity reduction can be obtained without any loss of quality.

  • Recently, Hooda and Ram [7] have proposed and characterized a new generalized measure of R-norm entropy. In the present communication we have studied its application in coding theory. Various mean codeword lengths and their bounds have been defined and a coding theorem on lower and upper bounds of a generalized mean codeword length in term of the generalized R-norm entropy has been proved.

  • In this letter, a block code that minimizes the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals is proposed. It is shown that peak envelope power is invariant to cyclic shift and codeword inversion. The systematic encoding rule for the proposed code is composed of searching for a seed codeword, shifting the register elements, and determining codeword inversion. This eliminates the look-up table for one-to-one correspondence between the source and the coded data. Computer simulation confirms that OFDM systems with the proposed code always have the minimum PAPR.

  • In this paper, a new family of wavelength-time codewords using modified time mapped prime sequences as a time spreading pattern is constructed. When $P_t$ = 3, we can construct $P_w^2$ wavelength-time codewords with low autocorrelation sidelobe and crosscorrelation of less than or equal to 1. When $P_t$ = 5 and $P_t$ = 7, the number of wavelength-time codewords of $P_w^2$ can be constructed with good crosscorrelation of 1 and autocorrelation of less than or equal to 2.

  • Design criteria far a block code which guarantees minimized PAPR of the OFDM signals are proposed in this paper. Encoding procedure of the minimum PAPR codes (MPC) is composed of searching a seed codeword, circular shifting the register elements, and determining codeword inversion. It is shown that the PEP is invariant to the circular shift of register elements and codeword inversion. Based on such properties, systematic encoding rule for MPC is proposed. In addition proposed encoding rule can reduced greatly the size of look up table for MPC.

  • In this paper, for my linear orthogonal space-time block including the orthogonal space-time codes introduced by Alamouti[1], Tarokh[14], and Xia[11], the exact expression for the pairwise error probability in the slow Rayleigh fading channel is derived in terms of the message symbol distance between two message vectors rather than the codeword symbol distance between two transmitted codeword matrices. Using the one-dimensional component symbol error probability, the exact closed form expressions for the symbol error probability of linear orthogonal space-time codes are derived for QPSK, 16-QAM, 64-QAM, and 256-QAM.
