  • To investigate the relationship between recurrent aphthous ulcer and oral mucosal keratinization, exfoliative cytology in buccal mucosa, lip mucosa, tongue mucosa were performed on 25 recurrent aphthous ulcer patients and 25 controls whose age ranged from 10 to 65. Keratinization cell ratio was then measured. The results were as follows : 1. Yellow cell ratio in the control group was more than that in the patient group in buccal mucosa, lip mucosa, tongue mucosa. Red cell ratio in the control group was more than that in the patient group in lip mucosa. Blue cell ratio in the patient group was more than that in control group in all regions( p(0.01) 2. In the comparison by sex, the patient group showed no significant difference in all site but, the control group showed different results according to the site; males were more than females in yellow cell, but less than females in red cell Females were more than males in yellow cell, but less than males in red cell. 3. In the comparison by age, patient group showed no significant difference in all site, but the control group showed significantly high yellow cell ratio in buccal and tongue mucosa over the age of 50. In conclusion, there was close relationship between recurrent aphthous ulcer and decreased oral mucosal keratinization. In other words, reduced oral mucosal keratinization must be recommended for prevention of recurrent aphthous ulcer.

According to their general features, the study analyzed whether they had any dental fears and why such fears occurred and conducted Chi-square test to compare their oral hygiene care experiences and behaviors with dental fears. Data analysis was made using the SPSS 12.0K for Window, with level of significance set at 0.05. Results : 1. In terms of dental fear or non-fear, the comparison by gender showed that women had a higher level than men, with 76 women(47.2%) answering yes; the comparison by age showed that the age group of 30 years old or older had a higher level than other groups. 2. In terms of dental fear reasons, "the past pain experiences" recorded 34.2%, showing the highest rate. 3. In addition, dental fears had influences on regular dental examination, scaling and dental hygiene education and the subjects without dental fear showed higher levels in terms of tooth-brushing frequency and time. Conclusions : To control "the past pain experiences", future dental treatment should place priority on preventive treatment and get clients to cope with pains through the preliminary education with pains. • This study was carried out to investigate the cadmium level in blood by age, gender, and smoking status among 162 elderly subjects in Gyeongnam Province from September 2006 to February 2007. The cadmium level in blood was analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Subjects were classified according to smoking status and divided into smokers and non-smokers, smoking duration, daily smoking habits, age, and gender. Mean blood cadmium levels in male and female were $0.70{\pm}0.41{\mu}g/dL$ and $0.57{\pm}0.32{\mu}g/dL$ respectively, with no significant differences between the two groups. Cadmium levels in the blood of smokers and non-smokers were $0.57{\pm}0.32{\mu}g/dL$, $0.90{\pm}0.44{\mu}g/dL$ respectively, with the cadmium level of smokers being significantly higher than that of non-smokers. In comparison by age, cadmium levels in the blood of subjects over the age 70 years and over the age 80 years were $0.91{\pm}0.44{\mu}g/dL$, $1.02{\pm}0.39{\mu}g/dL$ respectively, showing a significantly higher blood cadmium level than that of non-smokers. when compared by the amount of daily cigarette consumption, there were no significant differences in the blood cadmium level between groups. However when compared by smoking duration, the blood cadmium level for the group of smoking duration of over 10 years was $1.15{\pm}0.38{\mu}g/dL$, significantly higher than $0.67{\pm}0.31{\mu}g/dL$ for the group of smoking duration of less than 10 years. In conclusion, longer smoking duration and older aged group showed higher cadmium level in blood. For more reliable results, further study of the elements that elevate the cadmium level in blood with more subjects and study variables will be needed.

  • This study attempts to improve the understanding of the rapidly growing online video platform market such as Youtube and OTT, and to investigate the attributes and relative importance of them. For this purpose, the factors that influence the choice to use were derived through literature studies and the Focus Group Interview (FGI), and the priority of the factors was calculated through the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The upper layer of the AHP structure was 'Relationship', 'Entertainment', 'Informativity', and 'Convenience', and the lower layer was structured into 13 elements. The importance priority analysis among the factors that influence the choice to use was done by teenagers, 20s, and 30s and the results are summarized as follows : First, Users consider the 'Just for fun' and 'Satisfaction of interests' as the most important factors, followed by 'Easy accessibility to use', 'Vicarious satisfaction', 'Usefulness of Information', and 'Up-to-dateness of information'. Second, the ranking of the upper layer was in the order of 'Entertainment'-'Informativity'-'Convenience'-'Relationship'.As a result of AHP,'Entertainment' was 3.6 times more important than 'Relationship'. In the comparison by age group, only teenagers regarded that 'Convenience' is more important than 'Informativity'. According to the characteristics of the age group, the lower layer of teenagers consider 'Convenient function' to be important and ranked 'Usefulness of information' in 8th. While 'Vicarious satisfaction' ranked 4th out of 13 factors in the entire age group, those in their 20s and 30s ranked 8th, showing a difference. In the case of 20s, 'Reasonable price' was ranked 4th and the 'Diversity of Information' was ranked 5th, Otherwise 30s consider 'Trustworthiness of Information' to the third. Third, unlike 'Convenience' which was the lower-rank in the upper layer AHP analysis, 'Easy accessibility to use', the lower-layer of convenience, ranked third overall in the importance analysis among the 13 lower-layer factors, and showed a similar patterns in the age groups results. In the conclusion, this study demonstrates that 'Convenience' and 'Vicarious satisfaction' factors, which were not relatively well addressed in the previous studies, are the key factors to be considered in. By presenting the results of the importance analysis on each of the selected attributes, This study has a practical implication that Industries such as on-line video service platform provider can use the importance priority in establishing the directions of future strategy.
