Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the history, current status, and regulation of complementary medicine in Australia. Methods : To investigate complementary medicine in Australia, we searched domestic and overseas academic databases, and websites of public and private organizations related to the Australian health care. Results : Complementary medicine consists of numerous services, among which massage and chiropractic care are significantly utilized by Australians. Since 2010, Australian healthcare practitioners, in the field of complementary medicine, have been supervised by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Those who AHPRA is responsible for managing acupuncturists, chiropractors, and osteopaths. Other professions are regulated by their own respective associations. Not only aforementioned services offered by specialists, but also consumption of oral supplements accounts for considerable portion of complementary medicine in Australia. Complementary medicine products, vitamins, and minerals are managed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). In terms of insurance policy, the reimbursement of complementary medicine expenses in Australia is covered by the public healthcare insurance system, Medicare. Medicare covers acupuncture, chiropractic, and osteopathy services. Other complementary therapies are continuously reviewed to update their coverage under this scheme. Conclusion : In Australia, practitioner qualifications, education standards, and scope of procedures related to complementary medicine are systematically managed through legal regulations of the federal and state governments.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine mothers' knowledge levels on complementary foods and their perception of convenience complementary foods. Methods: An online survey was conducted with mothers aged 20-49 years who had purchased convenience complementary foods and had a preschool child aged 4 months or older. The respondents were categorized into 3 groups based on their knowledge scores: low- (0-50 points), mid- (55-65 points), and high- (70-100 points) knowledge groups. Results: The average score of mothers' knowledge on complementary foods was 58.8 out of 100 points. Working mothers were found to have lower levels of knowledge compared to mothers who were housewives. Only 1/4 of responding mothers had educational experience on complementary foods. Mothers expressed a desire for information on the types of complementary foods (72.2%) and the intake amounts (60.3%) corresponding to each phase of their child's development. Multivariate analysis of variance revealed significant differences in health (P = 0.002), variety (P = 0.039), and hygiene (P = 0.041) among the factors taken into consideration when purchasing convenience complementary foods according to the mothers' knowledge levels. Mothers in the high-knowledge group placed a greater importance on 'balanced nutrition' (P = 0.022) and 'hygienic cooking' (P = 0.010) compared to mothers in the low-knowledge group. The results of the modified importance-performance analysis, which compared the importance and performance of the factors taken into consideration when purchasing convenience complementary foods, highlighted the need for efforts in 'health,' 'hygiene,' and 'price,' while also indicating an excessive effort in 'convenience.' Conclusions: This study suggests expanding relevant education programs to enhance mothers' knowledge on complementary foods, especially for working mothers. In the industry, marketing strategies for complementary food products could be developed that align with the needs of mothers, focusing on health, hygiene, and price.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify attitudes of nursing students in terms of complementary and alternative therapies and to find out what curriculums they prefer. Methods: Data was collected through 283 participants from a nursing school by self-report questionnaires that were constructed to include scales. The scales were made as a measurement to search the attitudes of nursing students regarding complementary and alternative therapies. In addition, to find out some of the curriculum that are preferred by them. The data was analyzed using t-test and ANOVA with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: Students' attitudes of complementary and alternative therapies were positive. Students' attitudes of complementary and alternative therapies differed depending on factors like one's religion, experiences and education. Some of the curriculum that nursing students wished to be opened related to complementary and alternative therapies turned out to be massage therapy, art therapies that include music and dancing, medication therapy and aroma therapy. Conclusion: In order for nursing students to be able to apply these complementary and alternative therapies at the field after graduation while they are working as a registered nurse, constant effort should be accomplished in establishing complementary and alternative therapies as regular curriculum at University.
Significant low knowledge and poor attitudes on complementary feeding undermine the practices. This study was a cluster randomized controlled trial in which 284 study participants were assigned into two groups. One intervention group and a control group in a ratio of 1:1. Nutrition education on complementary feeding was carried out among the caregivers in the intervention group but the caregivers in the control group were not educated. To determine complementary feeding knowledge and attitudes, data was collected from caregiver at baseline, midline and at endline using researcher-administered questionnaires. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS version 22.0. From the analysis, there was a significant difference in complementary feeding knowledge of the caregivers after the intervention. The baseline difference was -0.06, the midline difference was 3.85 the endline difference was 4.00 and the DID of the baseline and endline was 4.06 which was significant at p=0.001. There was a significant difference in the attitude of the caregivers towards complementary feeding at baseline (-0.14), midline (2.09), endline (3.82) and the DID of baseline and endline was 3.96 which was significant at p=0.001. The intervention improved the caregivers' knowledge on complementary feeding and it improved the attitudes of the caregivers towards adequate complementary feeding.
Objectives: Pregnant women could have various diseases, but the treatment of medication has the limitation that could cause fetal injury. So pregnant women have used complementary and alternative medicine in the world, but korean medicine had not been actively studied on obstetrics. This study is to investigate efficacy and safety of complementary and alternative medicine on obstetrics. Methods: We searched for papers which had pregnancy, obstetrics, complementary medicine, acupuncture and herb in the pubmed since 2000. Results: 41 papers were found. Acupuncture have the efficacy and safety on nausea, pelvic pain in pregnancy and breech presentation. Complementary alternative medicine had been studied as randomized controlled trial at various diseases in obstetric. But the method were without coordination, results were different from methods. So more clinical trials about complementary and alternative medicine would be needed. Massage and acupressure would be helpful for pregnant mood complaint. Conclusion: Complementary and alternative medicine has been proved as efficacy and safety in obstetrics, so complementary and alternative medicine would be helpful method in pregnant women. For making guidelines on complementary and alternative medicine treatment during pregnancy, more research will be needed.
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the practice of complementary feeding and its influencing factors in children under 2 years of age in Indonesia. Methods: This cross-sectional study used data obtained from the 2017 National Socioeconomic Survey. The sample totaled 1,751 households with children under 2 years of age, who received complementary feeding in urban and rural communities. Furthermore, the practice of complementary feeding was evaluated on the basis of the variations in provided food grouped into two categories: complete and incomplete. This study applied bivariate and multivariate analytical methods. Multivariate analysis was performed using binary logistic regression. Results: The proportion of children under 2 years of age who received complementary feeding with complete variant food was 15.9%, while that with incomplete variant food was 84.1%. Furthermore, the factor influencing the practice of complementary feeding among the children was the mother's educational level (odds ratio: 1.481, 95% confidence interval: 0.245-0.943). Conclusion: Complete complementary feeding, which involves a variety of food sources, is the best approach to improve the nutritional status of infants. Therefore, the source of food for complementary feeding must be accessible to all communities.

In this study, we tried a study on a direction of the field of oriental medicine on accepting complementary alternative medicine by analyzing the related thesis, journals and papers on the complementary alternative medicine published in the field of oriental medicine. As the result of analyzing the present study of the field of oriental medicine on the complementary alternative medicine, there have been 22 studies on the complementary alternative medicine. Thesis, papers were mainly experimental papers about the bee venom therapy, energy therapy, fasting therapy, and colon therapy, and the journals were actively studied in order of clinical paper, experimental paper, and reference paper about the bee venom therapy, energy therapy, and reflexolgy. The acceptance of complementary alternative medicine by the field of oriental medicine through a scientific relation should be conducted more systemically by setting the main academy taking charge of the study on common characteristics of the complementary alternative medicines on the classification of NCCAM as well as the related academies taking charge of the study on the unique characteristic of each complementary alternative medicine. First, additional studies are needed to make the most of characteristics of each complementary alternative medicine through the main academy and the related academies, and for the next, additional studies are necessary to complement the research trend on each complementary alternative medicine through the main academy and related academies.

Complementary trees are two spanning trees rooted at the sink node satisfying that any source node's two paths to the sink node on the two trees are node-disjoint. Complementary trees routing strategy is a special node-disjoint multi-path routing approach. Several complementary trees routing algorithms have been proposed, in which path discovery methods based on depth first search (DFS) or Dijkstra's algorithm are used to find a path for augmentation in each round of path augmentation step. In this paper, a novel path discovery method based on multi-tree-growing (MTG) is presented for the first time to our knowledge. Based on this path discovery method, a complementary trees routing algorithm is developed with objectives of low average path length on both spanning trees and low complexity. Measures are employed in our complementary trees routing algorithm to add a path with nodes near to the sink node in each round of path augmentation step. The simulation results demonstrate that our complementary trees routing algorithm can achieve low average path length on both spanning trees with low running time, suitable for wireless sensor networks in industrial scenarios.
