  • Using text network analysis, this research aimed to identify significant keywords associated with each period of the revised High School Engineering curriculum from 2009-2022 and to examine their interrelationships in order to analyse the observed changes. The results of this study can be summarised as follows. Firstly, a significant increase in the number of words was observed throughout the curriculum revisions, with prominent occurrences of terms such as 'engineering', 'understanding', 'problem', 'solution', 'learning', 'evaluation' and 'diversity'. Secondly, network analysis and examination of connection centrality for each subject revealed the connection relationship that represented distinct subject characteristics. Thirdly, the study of the engineering curriculum revealed shifts in emphasised content with each revision. Based on these findings, recommendations were formulated. Firstly, given the growing importance of engineering, it is imperative to conduct systematic research on engineering education in primary and secondary school contexts. Secondly, efforts should be made to strengthen the link between Engineering and Technogy・Home-economics subjects in secondary schools. Finally, high school engineering subjects should be used not only to explore engineering careers, but also to cultivate talents with interdisciplinary expertise.

  • The objective of this research is to understand the current field and composition of environment related terminology used in middle and high school textbooks, to find out uniformity and relationship between them, and development for the future establishement and replacement in the environmental education, simultaneously. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The terms used in middle school textbooks were found out to be 334, while those used in high school were 717. Total terms used were 870(759 kinds) and those recorded in the environmental terminology dictionary were 362 including synonyms. 2. Of those 870, 211 terms (24.25%) which were the same words have been used in interlinked connection with the Middle and High schools. While 136 terms(15.63%) have been used in the only middle, and 524 terms(60.23%) have been used in the only high schools. In middle and high school environmental text books 211 (24.25%) terms were the same interlinked terms. Of those extracted terms, 136(15.63%) were used in the middle school 'environmental' textbooks and in high school, 524(60.23%) were used in 'environmental science' book. These results shows that there is big gap between middle and high school contents and we will need more consideration in selecting the terms and better substance. 3. The same terminologies used in both middle and high schools were total number of 676. In those terms 257 kinds(76.26%) were used in middle school 'environmental' text books, and 563 kinds(78.52%) in high school 'environmental science' text books. Here are some details : 1) Terms used as same meaning but different in expression in middle school: 83 kinds, 192 terms (11.99%). 2) Differently expressed in the same text book : in middle school - 20 kinds(2.64%) in high school - 61 kinds(8.04%) 3) Differently expressed terms between middle and high school: 51 kinds(6.72%) 4) Same meaning in 3 expressions or more : 19 kinds 4. Of the examined terms 362(including 43 synonyms) were defined in environmental dictionary which is 41.8% of the total words. In the future specialization in utmost fields will be needed 5. When dividing those examined terms according to the middle and high school curriculum, the most terms were used in nature and pollution fields following environmental preserving, artificial environment, and environmenatal counterplan. In middle schools the most used terms were in the field of environment pollution, preservation, counterplan, and sanitation. These results reflects the education goals and objectives of middle schools. But for the middle school 'environment' curriculum moret uniform distribution are needed and for the high schools' 'environmental science' program, the fields in artificial environment, industrization, urbanization, and sanitation should be intensified.

  • One of the most important objectives in science education is to develop students' science literacy. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relevance between biology instructional objectives in the 7th curriculum taught in elementary and secondary schools. For this study, 7 major parts in each grade were analyzed including cell, the form and function of plants, the form and function of animals, genetics, diversity, evolution, ecology, and environment. The strand map of instructional objectives is completed that represents the relation between the objectives. The summary of the results from this study is as follows. First, the concept about cells is not fully covered in lower grades including elementary schools. While the concept of energy metabolism is repeatedly covered, there is no concept of energy covered in learning the concept of energy metabolism in elementary schools. Second, the textbooks in elementary and middle schools have main concepts about the form and function of plants while those in high schools don't. The concept related to the part of the form and function of animals is repeatedly involved in the curriculum throughout the elementary, middle, and high schools. Third, the concepts such as genetics and evolution are involved in higher grades since these concepts are abstract ones. The part of genetics and evolution as well as diversity has no connection between grades in schools, so the development of "notion between" is necessary to relate these concepts with each other. Fourth, the 4 parts of diversity, ecology and environment, evolution, and the form and function of plants are covered in limited grade levels. The results of the relevance of gene in lesson goals will play an important rein as the primary material in developing the connection between textbooks in which lesson goals are closely related to each other throughout all grade levels in elementary, middle and high schools.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive implications for the development of the next home economics curriculum by comparing the 'function' and 'achievement standard' presented in the 14 subjects of the 2015 revised middle school common curriculum with the home economics curriculum. For this, keyword network analysis was conducted, and the results are as follows. First, in the 'function' of the 2015 revised middle school common curriculum, 'analysis, use, and expression' were found to be core function keywords with high Degree Centrality and the Eigenvector Centrality. Second, the functional keywords 'understanding, explanation, expression, analysis, and use' in the 'achievement standard' of the 2015 revised middle school common curriculum appeared with high frequency, and 'practice, problem-solving, search and reasoning' which are related to practical problem-solving ability appeared. It was confirmed that 'appreciation, solution and realization', which have relatively high Eigenvector Centrality, were core functional keywords used in the 'achievement standard'. Third, when the 'function' and 'achievement standard' of the 2015 revised middle school home economics curriculum were matched and compared, 7 out of 15 functions were not used in the statement of 'achievement standard', so the connection between 'function' and 'achievement standard' appeared to be insufficient. In addition, the diversity of functional keyword used in the 'achievement standard' was also found insufficient when compared to the middle school common curriculum. Therefore, this study propose strengthening the connectivity of 'function' and 'achievement standard' in the next home economics curriculum, using keywords such as 'analyze', 'express', 'compare', 'understand', 'interpret', 'explore', 'appreciate', and 'solve'.

  • The 2015 revised curriculum is an integrated curriculum that reflects national and societal needs to foster creative convergent talent in the school curriculum. Along with these changes, the Ministry of Education introduced a system to change the major from 2017 to the fourth year of university. Therefore, each university should prepare to reflect the curriculum and institutional change before welcoming students who have completed the 2015 revised curriculum. The university needs to study the countermeasures for implementing the 2015 revised curriculum and expanding the period of major change when preparing the curriculum and contents of the calculus courses that freshmen take. Handong University has been studying the operation methods of new students who want to decide their major at the first grade, such as operating calculus courses at various levels and allocating appropriate proportions of calculus for preliminary examinations. This case is similar to the basic purpose of the revised curriculum in 2015, so it can suggest implications for the operation of the university calculus class after the curriculum revision. In this paper, we have analyzed the results of the recent freshman mathematics test for the recent 5 years and the students' calculus grades and compared them with the contents of the calculus curriculum operated by Handong University and the 2015 revised higher mathematics curriculum. As a result, we proposed five classes of calculus suitable for college major and it was found that the calculus curriculum should include the missing quadratic method in the 2015 revised curriculum.

  • The result of TIMSS 2015 was announced at the end of 2016. In this research, we conducted test-curriculum matching analysis for 8th grade earth science and analyzed Korean students' percentage of correct answers and responses for TIMSS earth science test items. According to the results, Korean students showed high percentage of correct answers when the item topics are covered in the 2009 revised science curriculum, and Korean students revealed their weakness in constructed response items since the percentage for correct answers on constructed response items is half that of multiple choice items. Depending on the earth science topic, for 'solid earth' area, which includes earth's structure and physical features, as well as earth's processes and history, students showed high percentage of correct answers for multiple choice items. Students, however, showed low percentage of correct answers for items that require applying knowledge to everyday situations and connecting with other areas of science such as biology. For 'atmosphere and ocean' areas, which include earth's processes and cycles, students showed low percentage of scores for climate comparison between regions, features of global warming, etc. For the area of 'universe', students showed high percentage of scores for the earth's rotation and revolution, the moon's gravity, and so on because they have learned these topics since primary school. Discussed in the conclusion are ways to secure content connection between the primary and middle school earth science curriculums, ways to develop students' science-inquiry related competencies, and so on to improve middle school earth science curriculum as well as teaching and learning.

  • This study aims to identify implications for the role of home economics in consumer education in middle schools focusing on building consumer competency. To this end, the content in middle school textbooks of home economics and other subjects, written according to the 2015 revised curriculum, were analyzed. This study examined consumer education content based on the consumer competency measurement index developed by the Korean Consumer Agency, and reviewed different foci presented by subjects. This study also investigated how the knowledge, attitude and practice, which are components of consumer competency, are presented. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: First, consumer competency content, presented in textbooks of home economics and other subjects, were comprised of citizenship competency(65.3%), transactional competency(27%), and financial competency(7.7%). Second, in terms of content on the consumer's citizenship competency, little attention was paid to consumer rights, revealing an imbalance between responsibilities and rights. Third, despite its importance, the "utilization of information and communications technology" in transaction competency, and "consumer participation" in citizenship competency are insufficiently covered in the home economics. Fourth, social studies was the subject that most extensively covered the content of consumer competency. In terms of scope, home economics dealt with most of the sub-fields. Fifth, even when the same content of consumer competency was covered, it was presented differently by subject. Sixth, there was a lack of connection between components of consumer competency-knowledge, attitude, and practice, with a disproportionately high emphasis on knowledge. In conclusion, this study concluded that consumer education content of middle school subjects is insufficient to enhance consumer competency.

  • This study has attempted to analyze the achievement standards in the 2015 revised curriculum, based on the revision of Bloom's Taxonomy and aims to identify the knowledge and required competencies in the fourth industrial era. The results of this study are as follows: First, the knowledge dimensions was the highest 'metacognitive knowledge' in middle school, while 'factual knowledge' was the highest in high school, and 'knowledge of specific details and elements' was the highest subtype of all of the knowledge dimensions. The dimensions of the cognitive process, such as the terms 'apply' and 'analyze' in middle school, as 'understand' and 'evaluate' in high school have been treated inattentively. Second, the knowledge dimension and the cognitive process dimension according to key concepts display the metacognitive knowledge and 'understand' in development, the conceptual knowledge and 'understand' in relationship. While the 'metacognitive knowledge' and 'apply' in life culture, the 'procedural knowledge' and 'evaluate' in safety, the 'factual knowledge' and 'apply' in management and the 'metacognitive knowledge' and 'understand' in life design were extremely high. Third, the verbs used in the achievement standards displayed as 'explore', 'understand', 'analyze', 'practice', 'suggest', 'recognize' and 'evaluate'. Since the statement of the action verb is the very basis for determining the performance process, specific competencies may be achieved by reflecting on the actual achievement standards. These standards should provide us with a effective cognitive process for to understand a learner's performance skills and support the direction of the education required, through a strategy that refines the connection between content elements and functions and develop their competences for the future.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the error happening in the process of solving the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities and to propose the correct teaching method. We first introduce a problem about the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities. And we will see the solution which a student offers. Finally we propose the correct teaching method by analyzing the error happening in the process of solving the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities. The cause of the error are a wrong conception which started with the process of solving the simultaneous equality with two unknown qualities and an insufficient curriculum in connection with the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities. Especially we can find out the problem that the students don't look the interrelation between two valuables when they solve the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities. Therefore we insist that we must teach students looking the interrelation between two valuables when they solve the simultaneous inequality with two unknown qualities.
