  • This study was conducted on how the harvest time affect fruit quality, core breakdown, and taste of GA-pasted 'Wonhwang' pear (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai) fruit in order to verify the optimum harvest time. Harvest time included 110, 115, 120, 125, 130 days after full bloom (DAFB). Delayed fruit harvest increased fruit weight and content of soluble solids but decreased firmness, titratable acidity, and starch content. Harvest at 130 DAFB severely reduced fruit firmness and increased fruit core breakdown for 21 days at room storage, while harvest at 115 DAFB showed the opposite result of the fruit firmness and breakdown. Delayed fruit harvest reduced fruit taste, regardless of GA pasting on fruit. GA-pasted fruit showed reduced taste in advance compared to those of non GA-pasted fruit, regardless of the harvest time. Harvest at 120 DAFB would be suitable to maintain fruit quality and reduce core breakdown.

  • Diagnostic, surge and ac breakdown tests are widely used to evaluate the insulation condition of stator winding in traction motor. Diagnostic test included ac current, tan delta and maximum partial discharge. The result of diagnostic test indicates that five kinds of stator windings are good condition. Surge test was peformed to confirm the healthy of turn insulation in stator windings. This test is very easy to detect the turn insulation failure between normal and defect stator windings. After completing the diagnostic test, ac breakdown test has conducted gradually increasing ac voltage, until the stator winding punctured. No. 5 stator windings failed near rated voltage of 18.9 kV The breakdown voltage of No. 1 stator windings was 13.0 kV The ac breakdown voltage of normal winding is about 1.45 times higher than that of defect windings. The failure was located in a line-end coil at the exit from the core slot.

  • This paper discusses WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) that is known for technique of basic project management. The WBS use in domestic industries often exhibit errors in Its structure. The most common serious error is space-oriented breakdown structure of PBS (Product Breakdown Structure) that becomes the core element of the WBS. This paper proposes a method to correct the problem of space-oriented breakdown structure constructed in domestic railroad industry. DSM method was adopted to construct PBS containing function-oriented structure. The proposed process and method will contribute to minimize time that take to construct an accurate and useful PBS.

  • Stator winding of hydro generator is gradually deteriorated by multi-stress and steady degradation of insulation results in insulation breakdown. The region where insulation breakdown occurs in stator winding is part where the multi-stress causes the defect of insulation material and electrical stress has been concentrated. Therefore, we judged locations of insulation breakdown to be varied according to various stress factors in service. In this paper, we drew the stator winding of hydro generators which has run for a long time and separated it into 3 parts(central part, end winding part, drawing part) according to the positions laid on the core. We performed electrical and thermal stress on these specimens for 1000 hrs under the same condition, measured the condition regularlyand analyzed the insulation status of each winding by performing partial discharge test. In addition, we analyzed the trend of partial discharge concerning specimens that caused the insulation breakdown during aging.

  • Cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulators are used as insulation in ultra-high voltage electric power cables. This study investigated the electrical properties of XLPE at different temperatures. The electrical properties of the changing tree phenomenon was examined as a function of temperature applied to the electrical conductors by measuring the partial discharge at $25^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$ and applied voltages to the electrodes ranging from 1 kV to 40 kV. The activity of the partial discharge was examined at various temperatures using the K-means distribution. The results revealed the specimen at $80^{\circ}C$ to have the lowest inception voltage and breakdown voltage. In addition, the core of clusters was moved $0^{\circ}$ and $180^{\circ}$ at the positive region and $180^{\circ}$ and $360^{\circ}$ in the negative region in the K-means. The distribution of clusters was concentrated on the inception condition and spread out widely at the breakdown voltage.

  • To assess the condition of stator insulation, nondestructive tests were performed on twenty five coil groups and twenty six motors. The stator windings has nominal ratings of 6.6kV and are classified into five coil groups ;one group with healthy insulation and four groups with four different types of artificial defects. After completing nondestructive tests, the AC voltage applied to the stator windings was gradually increasing until insulation failure in order to obtain the breakdown voltage. No.1, No.2 and No.6 of 6.6kV motors failed near rated voltage of 14kV, 8.7kV and 14kV, respectively. The breakdown voltage of three motors was lower that expected for good quality coils(14.2kV) in 6.6kV motors. No.3 and No.6 of 4.16kV motors failed near rated voltage of 5.6kV and 4.2kV, respectively. Almost all of failures were located in a line-end coil at the exit from the core slot. The breakdown voltages and the types of defects showed strong relation to the stator insulation tests such as in the case of AC current, dissipation factor(tan${\delta}$) and partial discharge magnitude.

  • To assess the condition of stator insulation, nondestructive and overpotential tests were performed on four high voltage motors. The stator windings under these tests have nominal ratings of 6.6 kV. After completing nondestructive tests, the AC overvoltage applied to the stator windings was gradually increasing until insulation failure in order to obtain the breakdown voltage. No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 of 6.6 kV motors failed near rated voltage of 18.4 kV, 19.8 kV, 19.7 kV and 21.7 kV, respectively. The breakdown voltage of four motors was higher that expected for good quality coils(14.2 kV) in 6.6 kV motors. Almost all of failures were located in a line-end coil at the exit from the core slot. The breakdown voltages and the types of defects showed strong relation to the stator insulation tests such as in the case of AC current, dissipation factor($tan{\delta}$) and partial discharge magnitude.

  • Stator insulation quality assessment for high voltage motors is a major issue for the reliable maintenance of industrial and power plants. To assess the condition of stator insulation, nondestructive tests were performed on the sixty coil groups of twelve motors. After completing the nondestructive tests, the AC voltage applied to the stator winding was gradually increased until insulation failure in order to obtain the breakdown voltage. The stator winding of each motor was classified into five coil groups; one group with healthy insulation and four groups with four different types of artificial defects. To analyze the breakdown voltage statistically, Weibull distribution was employed for the tests on the fifty coil groups of ten motors. The 50th percentile values of the measured breakdown voltages based on the statistical data of the five coil groups of ten motors were 26.1kV, 25.0kV, 24.4kV, 26.7kV and 30.5kV, respectively. Almost all of the failures were located in the line-end coil at the exit of the core slot. The breakdown voltages and the types of defects showed strong relation to the stator insulation tests such as in the case of dissipation factor and ac current. It is shown that the condition of the motor insulation can be determined from the relationship between the probability of failure and the type of defect.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of temperature during transportation and continuing shelf-life on fruit quality and the occurrence of physiological disorder to set up the appropriate exportation temperature condition in Asian pear (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai) 'Hanareum'. In the experiment of simulated exportation headed for USA, the fruits transported at $1^{\circ}C$ showed less weight loss than those of $5^{\circ}C$. Market temperature appeared as a key factor for keeping freshness of exported pear fruits rather than transportation temperature. Quality factors such as high flesh firmness and low incidence of fruit rot and physiological disorders including core breakdown and pithiness were attained at the fruits maintained at $18^{\circ}C$. Approximately two times higher incidence of physiological disorders and of fruit decay rates were observed in the fruits distributed at $25^{\circ}C$ than the those of $18^{\circ}C$. Therefore, temperature management during marketing resulted as an important factor for maintaining fruits quality in the process of pear fruit exportation.

  • Cylindrical type air core pulse transformers capable of passing high voltage and energy pulse waveforms with high efficiency and low distortion require a much more delicate design balance of physical dimensions and electrical parameters than iron or ferrite core units. The structure of an air core high voltage pulse transformer is relatively simple, but considerable attention is needed to prevent breakdown between transformer windings. Since the thickness of the windings in spiral type is on the order of sub-millimeter, field enhancement at the edge of the windings is very high. It is, therefore, important to find proper electrical insulation Parameter to make the system compact. Several shapes of the winding are considered for air core pulse transformer development. In this paper, we are described design procedure, parameters measure and experiment results of air core type HV pulse transformer.
