가교 폴리에틸렌의 수트리 특성 (Water Tree Characteristics of Crosslinked Polythylene)

  • Water tree experiments were done for several types of cross-linked polyethylenes. Test method is followed by ASTM D6097. Polyethylene is divided for four subgroup. First One is chemically cross-linked general XLPE, and second one is chemically cross-linked tree-retardant XLPE, and the third one is silane cross-linked polyethylene made by monosil process, and the last one is silane cross-linked polythylene made by copolymer. Tree retardant XLPE shows the shortest water tree length. Cahemcally cross-linked general XLPE shows the longest water tree length. Silane cross-linked polyethylene by copolymer is similar to tree retardant XLPE and similar breakdown strength. So silane cross-linked XLPE by copolymer could be used for the the medium voltage cable which should have tree retardant characteristics.

  • XLPE (Cross-Linked Polyethylene) which has good electric and physical characteristic is ideal material for Insulating material with force high volumetric resistance arid high dielectric constant. We study abort electric characteristics of XLPE by DCP and TMPTA content ration. DCP (Dicumylperoxide), which was used cross-linked agent contest, was changed from 1.0 to 0.5phr. TMPTA (Trimethyl-olpropane), which was used co cross-linked agent content, was changed from 0.5 to 1.5phr. Thermal analysis by DSC in order to observe tendency of Tg according to DCP and TMPTA content. Specimen 3 that content DCP 2.0phr and TMPTA 0.5phr has the highest value Breakdown strength cf specimen 3 (DCP 2.Ophr, TMPTA 1.0phr) is the highest, value and it increased in specific inductive capacity. This due to difference from cross-linked state by DCP and TMPTA content ratio.

Ethylene Polymerization Using (n-BuCp)$_{2}ZrCl_{2}$ Catalyst Activated with a Cross-linked MAO-Supported Cocatalyst

  • A new type of cross-linked methylaluminoxane (MAO)-supported cocatalyst has been prepared by the reaction of a soluble MAO and a cross-liking agent such as an aromatic diamine compound. The cross-linked MAO-supported cocatalyst was used for the polymerization of ethylene in the presence of bis(n-butylcyclopentadienyl) zirconium dichloride, (n-BuCp)$_2$ZrCl$_2$. The catalyst activity of (n-BuCp)$_2$ZrCl$_2$ cocatalyzed with the new supported cocatalyst was higher than that of the commercial silica-supported MAO (SMAO) cocatalyst. The molecular weight and the bulk density of the polyethylene produced by using the new supported cocatalyst were slightly higher than those of polyethylene synthesized using commercial SMAO. The resulting polyethylene particles possess spherical morphologies with very few fine particles.

전력케이블용 가교폴리에틸렌의 공간전하 극성측정기술에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Space Charge Polarity Measurement Teasurement Technology of Cross-Linked Polyethylene for Power Cable)

  • Charged particle in the polymers is supposed to affect the electrical conduction and to lead them th dielectrical breakdown finally. So we measured the space charge distribution made by application of high electric field and evaluated the polarity of the charged particle affected on electrical conduction and space charge formed in the insulating materials by using temperature gradient thermally stimulated current measurement method(TG-TSC measurement). As a result, in the cross-linked polyethylene, A-peak was caused from dipole polarization, C-peak was caused from ionic space charge polarization and D-peak was injected trap hole. Also we found it crossible the evaluated the polarity of injected trap carrier and electron(or hole) of carrier trap in the cross-lined polyethylene. We found that ${\gamma}$-ray irradiated low density polyethylene had a relation to the electronic trap and we also could get the value of electric field distribution in the samples of which evaluation was available.

초임계 메탄올을 이용한 가교 폴리에틸렌의 탈가교화 (Decrosslinking of Cross-linked Polyethylene using Supercritical Methanol)

  • 초임계 유체 공정을 이용하여 가교 폴리에틸렌 수지를 탈가교화하여 재활용하는 방법을 조사하였다. 가교 폴리에틸렌 수지는 메탄올을 이용한 초임계 반응 시 탈가교화가 이루어져 재활용 될 수 있다. 초임계를 이용한 탈가교화 반응은 반응온도에 의해 크게 영향을 받으며 $360^{\circ}C$부터 $400^{\circ}C$ 구간에서 온도의 증가에 따라 탈가교화가 급격히 촉진되었다. 반응온도의 증가에 따라 생성물인 탈가교 폴리에틸렌의 가교도, 분자량, 기계적 물성은 감소했지만, $360^{\circ}C$에서 탈가교된 폴리에틸렌은 가교전의 원료로 사용된 폴리에틸렌과 비교할만한 연신강도와 내충격강도를 보였다. 본 연구의 모든 반응조건에서 폴리에틸렌의 주쇄의 화학구조는 반응조건에 거의 영향을 받지 않았다.

Effects of a Compatibilizer on the Tensile Properties of Low-Density Polyethylene/Modified Starch Blends

  • In this study, thermoplastic starch (TPS), cross-linked starch (CS), and cross-linked starch modified with glycerol (CTPS) were prepared, and the mechanical properties of the compatibilized low-density polyethylene (LDPE) blends (LDPE/TPS, LDPE/CS, and LDPE/CTPS) were investigated and compared with those of uncompatibilized LDPE/TPS, LDPE/CS, and LDPE/CTPS blends. Maleic-anhydride-grafted polyethylene was used as the compatibilizer. The enhanced tensile strength and elongation at break for the compatibilized LDPE/modified starch blends are a result of the improved compatibility between LDPE and the modified starch, which was confirmed by torque measurements and scanning electron microscopy.

  • In this paper, the physical and volume resistivity properties of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) for ultra-high voltage investigated due to temperature dependence, and the measurement of volume resistivity used to highmegohm meter is measured from 1 to 30 minutes when the each applied voltage, for example, DC 100[V], 250[V], 500[V] and 1000[V] is applied, according to the step voltage application method. From FT-IR spectrum as an analysis of physical properties, a strong absorption in wavenumbers 700 to 730[$cm^{-1}$ /], 1456[$cm^{-1}$ /] and 2700 to 3000 [$cm^{-1}$ /] observed by the methyl groups(CH$_2$). From the analysis of DSC, the crystalline melting points of the specimen observed in the temperature 60[$^{\circ}C$] and 106.58[$^{\circ}C$].

Evaluation of Irradiated Oxidation of XLPE Based on Thermal and IR Reflection Properties

  • For evaluating the radiation degradation of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable insulation due to the irradiated oxidation, XLPE was irradiated with ${\gamma}$-ray. For each irradiated samples, TGA, DSC, FT-IR, and tensile tests were carried out. Regarding radiation degradation, oxidative process was predominant. TGA, DSC and FT-IR can be useful tools for evaluating the radiation degradation due to the irradiated oxidation because these analyses need only small amount of samples. The results of TGA, DSC and FTIR analyses showed the similar tendency for irradiated degradation. They can be useful tools for evaluating the oxidation of insulating material by non-destructive testing.

가교폴리에틸렌의 내부방전효과에 의한 절연파괴특성 (A Study on the Breakdown Characteristics in Cross-linked Polyethylene by Treeing Effect)

  • This paper reveals the results of fundamental experiments with the breakdown strength- and treeing phenomena, by A.C voltage and impulse voltage, of cross-linked polyethylene insulator, respectively compared in each case of the various specimens; nonvoid, air void, water void, oil void and oil impregnated one, all articially made. In this research, the V-t and V-n characteristics are investigated by means of the Weibull distribution and are analysed the characteristics of fatigue breakdown caused by the A.C and impulse voltage. Based on numerous tests, treeing effect and treeing breakdown mechanism is investigated through microscopic photographs taken to clarify the shapes of each tree and treeing breakdown phenomena.

  • In other to estimate an electrical properties of the cross linked polyethylene cable, the partial discharge properties due to charge of electrode shape(needle and bar) and void size were investigated at room temperature. Fast trip and breakdown time were appeared by the closed of needle electrode. The trip and breakdown voltage depend on insulator thickness. As the result, confirmed larger effect of void size than effect of insulator thickness. The effect of voids size than influence of insulation thickness was dominated by internal an electrode of inner insulators.
