  • A serial pendulum dynamic vibration absorber (DVA) was designed to suppress the vibration of two degrees of freedom (Two-DOF) structure model. The optimal DVA parameters are selected using a genetic algorithm (GA) by minimizing the fitness function formulated from the system's frequency response function (FRF). Two fitness function criteria, using one and two target frequency ranges, were utilized to calculate the optimal DVA parameters. The optimized serial pendulum DVA parameters were used to reduce structural vibration under free and forced excitation conditions. The simulation study found that the serial pendulum DVA can effectively reduce the vibration response for a small excitation amplitude. However, the DVA performance decreases for a large excitation amplitude due to the nonlinearity of pendulum motion, and the percentage of vibration response attenuation is smaller than that obtained using a small excitation amplitude.

  • Dynamic vibration absorbers (DVAs) in the form of tuned sloshing dampers (TSDs) and tuned mass dampers (TMDs) are commonly used to reduce the wind-induced motion of high-rise buildings. Full-scale performance of structure-DVA systems must be evaluated during the DVA commissioning process using structural monitoring data. While the random decrement technique (RDT) is sometimes employed to evaluate the DVA performance, it is shown to have no theoretical justification for application to structure-DVA systems, and to produce erroneous results. Subsequently, several practical methods with a sound theoretical basis are presented and illustrated using simulated and real-world data. By monitoring the responses of the structure and DVA simultaneously, it is possible to directly measure the effective damping of the system or perform system identification from which the DVA performance can be evaluated.

  • A Dynamic vibration absorber(DVA) is developed to reduce the excessive vibration of an optical disk drive(ODD) originated from the deriving range of an wobble disk and unbalanced disk. We design the material properties and shapes of the DVA by simulating Frequency response function(FRF) such as target frequency, mass of the DVA, stiffness of damper, damping coefficient, shape and dimension, analyze dynamic characteristics and provide its design guide line for suppressing the vibration of an optical disk derive. To examine the performance of the DVA, the vibration of the feeding system with DVA and without DAA are measured by using a three-axis accelerometer, PCB derive and Pulse analyzer. The result show that the proposed DVA reduces the vibration of wide range in ODD.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in the dynamic visual acuity between (DVA) the distance and near and the effect of change of accommodative stimulus on the dynamic visual acuity by the addition of the plus lens. Methods : The study involved 40 male and female adults ($22.84{\pm}2.43$ years old) with over 1.0 of visual acuity and without systemic disease or ocular disease. We compared the distance and near DVA and the change of DVA induced by the addition of the plus lens(+0.50D, +1.00D, +1.50D). Results : The distance DVA and near DVA are $78.86{\pm}19.46deg/sec$ and $76.90{\pm}18.05deg/sec$ respectively. The distance DVA was slightly higher(p=0.04). The higher the distance DVA, the higher the positive correlation with the near DVA and distance DVA, and distance DVA was higher in those who had higher the near DVA(r=0.95, p=0.00, Fig. 4). The near DVA according to the change of accommodative stimulus was $75.95{\pm}18.85deg/sec$ in full correction and the near DVA with +0.50D spherical power was $76.95{\pm}16.45$ but there was no statistically significant differences(p>0.05). However, the near DVA with +1.00D spherical power was $79.02{\pm}13.51deg/sec$ and it was slightly higher. Also, the near DVA with +1.50D spherical power was $84.28{\pm}18.96deg/sec$, there and it was statistically significant difference(p<0.05). Conclusion : There is no difference between distance and near DVA, but near DVA is also excellent if distance DVA is good. The DVA increases as added a plus lens for controlled accommodative stimulation changes.

  • Deer velvet antler (DVA) is one of the most popular medicines in China. Numerous studies have demonstrated that velvet antler possess biological effects. However, data regarding its anti-migration activity on prostate cancer is scarce. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effect of top DVA (T-DVA) on the expression of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and migration-related genes in the human prostate cancer cell, LNCaP. The T-DVA down-regulated the expression of PSA. In addition, the RadiusTM assay revealed that T-DVA inhibited the migration behavior of prostate cancer cells. Furthermore, the expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) was also decreased with T-DVA. On the contrary, T-DVA increased the tissue inhibition of metallo-proteinase (TIMP)-1 and (TIMP)-2. Taken together, our findings indicate that the T-DVA possesses anti-migration activity on prostate cancer cells. This is the first study of DVA to report the anti-migration activity on prostate cancer.

  • This paper presents a novel dynamic vibration absorber (DVA) to suppress the unbalance response of flexible rotor-bearing systems. The DVA unit consists of two DVAs, an adapter to place the DVAs and an adapter frame to locate the adapter. The essential feature of the proposed DVA unit is to place itself on any desirable location of the shaft without disassembling the rotor-bearing system under consideration. A simulation with a 3D element based commercial rotor dynamic software is made to test the possibility of the proposed DVA on the suppression of unbalance response in rotor-bearing systems. Experiments are performed to validate the proposed DVA unit. The simulation and experiments show that the proposed DVA unit is very effective to suppress the unbalance response in rotor-bearing system at designated rotational speeds of interest.

  • A dynamic vibration absorber(DVA) is developed to reduce the excessive focusing vibration of an optical disc drive(ODD) originated from the resonance of an wobble disc. We design the material properties of the DVA by FEM model such as Young's modules, damping coefficient, shapes and dimensions, analyze its dynamic characteristics and provide its design guide line for suppressing the vibration of an optical disc drive. To examine the performance. of the DVA, the vibration of the wobble disc and the feeding system is measured by using a laser vibrometer and the noise level is checked by using microphone. The result shows that the proposed DVA reduces the vibration and. the noise in an optical disc drive.

  • In high-speed optical disk drive, the excitation caused by rotation of a mass-unbalanced disk is a major source of vibration. The vibration can be a disturbance to the servo system, which is sufficient to cause severe failures in the reading and writing process. The vibration also causes users to feel unpleasantness. The vibration reduction is therefore essential for the reliable operation of optical disk drive. One of the approaches to reduce the vibration is a dynamic vibration absorber(DVA). In this paper, we analyze the dynamic behavior of $DVD{\pm}RW$ combo drive system with DVA through 12-dof rigid multi-body dynamic model. The effective location and the optimal frequency ratio for the DVA are obtained from the analysis. The DVA are fabricated based on the analysis and its usefulness is confirmed.

  • Large machine and structure can not be normally treated as lumped parameter system. Such machine or structure must be broken down to individual beams or panels the motion of which must be analysed before an absorber system can be designed for each element. The absorber may be a lumped parameter system or a continuous system. One of the most common elements in a machine or structure is the cantilever, and in this paper is considered the design of a continuous parameter absorber to reduce the transverse vibrations of a beam. So this paper describes the method to obtain the accurate information about combined continuous beam system with DVA. This information is obtained from the combined system's receptance. and this paper shows the convenience and useful informations when design the dynamic vibration absorber with the combined system's receptance.

  • This research is aimed to design and analyze the performance of double dynamic vibration absorber (DVA) using a pendulum and a spring-mass type absorber for reducing vibration of two-DOF vibration system. The conventional fixed-points method and genetics algorithm (GA) optimization procedure are utilized in designing the optimal parameter of DVA. The frequency and damping ratio are optimized to determine the optimal absorber parameters. The simulation results show that GA optimization procedure is more effective in designing the double DVA in comparison to the fixed-points method. The experimental study is conducted to verify the numerical result.
