A Study on the Proposal of DAS Template for Sharing Research Data in Domestic Academic Societies: Focusing on Data Sharing Policy of Foreign Publishers (국내 학회의 연구데이터 공유를 위한 DAS 템플릿 제안에 관한 연구 - 해외 출판사 데이터 공유 정책을 중심으로 -)

  • As sharing of research data has become essential, overseas publishers are providing authors with DAS templates to facilitate data sharing. However, the domestic academic market is still lacking in policies related to such research. This study proposes a data sharing policy and DAS template that can be applied to domestic academic societies in order to activate data sharing. To this end, data sharing policies of 5 foreign publishers including Nature and 12 DAS templates including AMS were investigated and analyzed. As a result of the study, an overview of the data sharing policy applicable to domestic academic conferences and a DAS template consisting of 12 items were derived. It is judged that the data sharing policy and DAS template to be presented as a result of this study can be a practical guide and tool for data sharing.

UEPF:A blockchain based Uniform Encoding and Parsing Framework in multi-cloud environments

  • The emerging of cloud data sharing can create great values, especially in multi-cloud environments. However, "data island" between different cloud service providers (CSPs) has drawn trust problem in data sharing, causing contradictions with the increasing sharing need of cloud data users. And how to ensure the data value for both data owner and data user before sharing, is another challenge limiting massive data sharing in the multi-cloud environments. To solve the problems above, we propose a Uniform Encoding and Parsing Framework (UEPF) with blockchain to support trustworthy and valuable data sharing. We design namespace-based unique identifier pair to support data description corresponding with data in multi-cloud, and build a blockchain-based data encoding protocol to manage the metadata with identifier pair in the blockchain ledger. To share data in multi-cloud, we build a data parsing protocol with smart contract to query and get the sharing cloud data efficiently. We also build identifier updating protocol to satisfy the dynamicity of data, and data check protocol to ensure the validity of data. Theoretical analysis and experiment results show that UEPF is pretty efficient.

An Exploratory Study of Biotechnology Scientists' Research Data Sharing Intention: The Moderating Effects of Academic Reputation (생명공학 분야 연구자의 연구데이터 공유 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구: 학술적 평판의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the factors which influence biotechnology scientists' data sharing intention. This study employed Ostrom's theory of collective action. The target population of this study includes scientists and students of biotechnology field in South Korea. A total of 411 responses which collected by e-mail were used for the final data analysis. The summary of this study is as follows. First, norm of data sharing and academic reciprocity were found to have significant positive influences on data sharing intention directly. Second, perceived community trust was found to have significant positive influences on data sharing intention when academic reciprocity was the mediator. Third, academic reputation showed the moderating effects on the relationship between norm of data sharing and academic reciprocity, and between norm of data sharing and data sharing intention. These findings show that researchers can approach the data sharing behaviors by using the mechanism of trust, norms, reciprocity, and reputation and indicate necessity for a development of academic reputation system to promote more data sharing behaviors of researchers.

  • Data-driven markets depend on access to data as a resource for products and services. Since the quality of information that can be drawn from data increases with the available amount and quality of the data, businesses involved in the data economy have a great interest in accessing data from other market players and sharing data with other stakeholders. Despite the growing need for access to data and evidence of the economic and social benefits, data access and sharing remains below its potential. Individuals, businesses, and governments often face barriers to data access, which may be compounded by the reluctance to share, including within and across sectors. To address these challenges, this paper focuses on finding possible solutions for a better data-sharing economy. This paper 1) Discusses opportunities and challenges of open data and the data-sharing economy, limitations of private sector data, and issues with open government data. 2) Introduces open government data initiatives and open governance networks initiatives. 3) Suggests possible solutions, including the governance and management, the legal and policy frameworks, and the technical standards for open data with proposing an open data governance model for the data-sharing economy.

An Evaluation of an Information Sharing Workflow Using Data Provenance Semantics (데이터 생성의미를 활용한 정보공유구조의 효과성 비교 연구)

  • For effective information sharing, data provenance semantics need to be managed effectively. Based on a scheme to represent data provenance semantics, we propose a model to calculate information sharing costs. Information sharing costs are derived from probabilities of type I and type II errors that occur in organizational information sharing, costs related to these errors, and information sharing distances between organizational units which are determined by information sharing workflows. We apply the model to various types of information sharing workflows including departmental information systems, hierarchical information systems, a hub and a stand-alone system. The calculated information sharing costs show that the hub with data standardization is best in information sharing; however without standardization its information sharing cost deteriorates to that of a departmental information system. And, any information sharing workflow is better than a stand-alone system. It is proved that the model is useful in analyzing effectiveness of information sharing workflows and their characteristics.

  • Recently, interests in the use of Sharing Bike is increasing in consideration of eco-friendly transportation and safety from viruses. As the technology for collecting and storing data is improved with the development of ICTs, research on mobility using the Sharing Bike Data is also actively progressing. Therefore, this paper analyzes the properties of Sharing Bike Data and cases of researches on it through literature review, and based on the results of the review, data of Eoulling, the Sharing Bike System of Sejong City is analyzed as a way to utilize Sharing Bike Data. Most of the selected literature used structured data, and analyzed it through statistical methods or data mining. Through data analysis, it identified the current status, found out problems of the Sharing Bike System, proposed a solution to solve them, developed plans to activate the use of Sharing Bike. This provides basic data for efficient management and operation plans for Sharing Bike System. Ultimately, it will be possible to explore ways to improve mobility in urban spaces by utilizing Sharing Bike Data.

Secure Data Sharing in The Cloud Through Enhanced RSA

  • Cloud computing today provides huge computational resources, storage capacity, and many kinds of data services. Data sharing in the cloud is the practice of exchanging files between various users via cloud technology. The main difficulty with file sharing in the public cloud is maintaining privacy and integrity through data encryption. To address this issue, this paper proposes an Enhanced RSA encryption schema (ERSA) for data sharing in the public cloud that protects privacy and strengthens data integrity. The data owners store their files in the cloud after encrypting the data using the ERSA which combines the RSA algorithm, XOR operation, and SHA-512. This approach can preserve the confidentiality and integrity of a file in any cloud system while data owners are authorized with their unique identities for data access. Furthermore, analysis and experimental results are presented to verify the efficiency and security of the proposed schema.

  • We propose and analyse a flexible secure file sharing scheme which can be used for data sharing among members in P2P environment. When a member wants to share data, notification messages are sent to the members with whom the member wants to share data. Each notification message includes one-time password encrypted with the receiver's public key. A member who received the notification message can download the data by using the one-time password. The proposed scheme provides selective sharing, download confirmation and efficient memory management. In terms of security, the proposed scheme supports authentication, entity privacy, replay attack protection and disguise prevention.

A Study on the Factors Affecting Sharing of Research Data of Science and Technology Researchers (과학기술분야 연구자의 연구데이터 공유의 영향요인에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting the sharing of research data of science and technology researchers. Data was collected through a survey of 198 science and technology researchers. Independent variables in this study included perception, openness in communication, collaboration, and trust. Latent variable was selected as reward system and dependent variable was research data sharing. The results of analysis of structural equation modeling showed that perception were found to have a positive impact on reward system for data sharing for research. Other factors such as trust, openness in communication and collaboration were not statistically significant in their affect on reward system for data sharing. Finally, reward system was identified as the influential factor on research data sharing.

  • Recently, the importance of collecting, analyzing, and real-time sharing of various cybersecurity data has emerged in order to effectively respond to intelligent and advanced cyber threats. To cope with this situation, Korea is making efforts to expand its cybersecurity data sharing system, but many private companies are unable to participate in the cybersecurity data sharing system due to a lack of budget and professionals to collect cybersecurity data. In order to solve such problems, this paper analyzes the research and development trends of existing domestic and foreign cyber security data sharing systems, and based on that, propose a cybersecurity data sharing system model with a hierarchical structure that considers the size of the organization and a step-by-step security policy that can be applied to the model. In the case of applying the model proposed in this paper, it is expected that various private companies can expand their participation in cybersecurity data sharing systems and use them to prepare a response system to respond quickly to intelligent security threats.
